Frederick James Quinlan
Frederick James Quinlan went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 17, 2006.
Jesus Christ was his first love, then family and friends, then music. He had written over 2000 songs, many of which were published and recorded by well-known artists, mostly in the 1950s. Some made the top 20 and a few were hits of that era. He had been a member of ASCAP since 1956.
Bible churches in the Chicagoland area worshiped with his songs. His greatest pleasure in life was leaving a smile on someone's face.
He had a career as a real estate agent in the Chicagoland area from 1951 to 1995, becoming the No. 2 sales associate in the Chicagoland area for Coldwell Banker in 1986. He especially enjoyed helping people buy their first home.
Another interest was golf, from shagging golf balls at a golf range, caddying at a private country club to assistant pro. He served his country as a veteran during WWII in the Merchant Marines.
He was born Nov. 2, 1925, in Chicago, Ill. and was the youngest child of Lillian (Sterling) and Carroll Quinlan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather Edward McLean and stepbrother Harry McLean.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara (Schaefer); children Joyce Borkowski, Joan (Mike) Phillips, and Bruce (Leah) Quinlan; 10 grandchildren; brother Sterling (Mary) Quinlan; sister Jeanne (Bill) Williams and many nieces and nephews.
At his request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that his friends remember him through donations to Carondelet Hospice, 630 N. Alvernon Way, Ste. 361, Tucson, AZ 85711.
