Robert Alleman Hitz, 96, died Oct. 22.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene. He is survived by three daughters, Susan (John) Ey, Mary Miller and Barbara Roark; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Upon retirement, Hitz and his wife moved to Sedona, later relocating to Tucson.
A Memorial Service will be Thursday, Oct. 29, 2 p.m., at Oro Valley United Church of Christ, 1401 E. El Conquistador Way, Tucson.

Ruth Edna Kirkpatrick
April 1, 1935 — Oct. 14, 2009

Ruth Edna Kirkpatrick died Oct. 14.
She was a resident of Sedona, retiring here in 2001, from Akron, Ohio.
She was born in Detroit, Mich., and raised there.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Kirkpatrick of Sedona; sons Michael Kirkpatrick of Globe, Sam Kirkpatrick of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Robert Kirkpatrick of Kent, Ohio; brothers Steve Major of Florida and William Major of Royal Oak, Mich.; sister Margie Mollencoph of Tucson; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
No services are scheduled.

Stephen Mark Pearson
Oct. 24, 1954 — Oct. 4, 2009

Stephen Mark Pearson, 54, of Sedona, died Sunday, Oct. 4, at Sedona Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 24, 1954, in Madison, Wis. He is survived by his wife Karen; three daughters Claire, Kaycee, and Kilee; two sisters Pegge Butenhoff of Oklahoma City and Judith Vavarapis of Athens; three brothers Dave of Madison, Bill of Denver, and Tim of Morgantown, W. Va. He was preceded in death by his parents Mabel and David Pearson. A private service was held by the family.

Anita Smith
Sept. 21, 1925 — Jan. 11, 2010

Anita Smith, 84, of Sedona, died Monday, Jan. 11, at Verde Valley Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 21, 1925, in Louisville, Ky.
She married Doyle Smith in 1960. They moved to Sedona in 1987.
She is survived by her husband; daughter Nora Stewart of Sierra Madre, Calif.; stepson Doyle Shawn Smith of Austin, Texas; brother Morley Read of N. Augusta, S.C.; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Preceded in death by stepson Doyle Jr.
Contributions to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or the American Heart Association.

Glynn O. Mount Jr.
Jan. 18, 1933 — Dec. 25, 2009

Glynn O. Mount Jr., 76, died Dec. 25 in Cottonwood at Verde Valley Medical Center.
He was born in San Antonio, Texas, on Jan. 18, 1933.
He was a resident of Cornville for 28 years.
He is survived by sons Kyle Mount of Cornville and Jerry Mount of Galveston, Texas.

Cheryl G. “Dee Dee” Elmer, 61, of Sedona, died Jan. 18. She was born Dec. 28, 1948, in Jerome. She was preceded in death by a son, Doyle Newton.
She leaves her husband, Jay Elmer; daughter Julie Elmer of Cottonwood; brothers Don R. Elmer and Dean A. Newton of Sedona; sisters LaVern Jones of Grand Junction, Colo., Bonnie Jackson of Lake Montezuma, Phyllis Christy and Sharon Terry of Sedona and Vivian McCroggen of Cornville; and one grandchild, Dillon Lightfoot.
Funeral service: Saturday, Jan. 23, First Assembly of God Church, Sedona, 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Sedona Community Cemetery.

Louis G. Nichols

Louis “Lou” G. Nichols, of Oak Creek, beloved husband and father, passed away Jan. 23, at home surrounded by his wife and family.
Survivors are his wife Billie Dawn Nichols; children Sammantha McDonald, Jan Nichols, Mark Nichols and Laurie Schoenberg; stepchildren Sharon Finster, Patti Utz, Dennis Alvey and John Alvey; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held at Canyon Mesa Country Club on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 3 p.m.

Anne Helene Wienges
Dec. 14, 2009

Anne Helene Wienges, age 99, passed away Dec. 14 in Sedona.
Wienges was the mother of Malachy Wienges and mother-in-law of Noreen Wienges, of Sedona. She also leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Anne and Robert Fewkes, of North Carolina, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A Mass celebrating Anne Wienges’ life will take place Friday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
Burial will take place the following week in New York.

Lois Jane Panter
April 7, 1926 — Jan. 12, 2010

Lois Jane Panter, 83, of Sedona, died Jan. 12. She was born April 7, 1926, in Bass Brook, Minn., to Louis and Clara (Ruth) Bemis. She is survived by her husband, Junior Charles Panter.
Memorial services will be Sunday, Jan. 24, at Christ Lutheran Church, 25 Chapel Road, Sedona.

Pearl Joyce Vanderhoof
Nov. 28, 1921 — Sept. 1, 2009

Pearl Joyce Vanderhoof, 87, died Sept. 1. A 20-year-resident of Sedona, she leaves behind her husband of 67 years, Fredric; daughters, Terry Foster, Cindy Vanderhoof, Ronny Frischer; and son Tom Vanderhoof; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was a remarkable lady, wife and mother and she will be greatly missed.

Detta Lourance, 95, of Camp Verde, died Aug. 27.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Ralph and daughter Jean Marshall.
She leaves daughter Elizabeth Annie Sabin; grandsons David A. Lee, Steve Marshall and family, Thomas Marshall and family; granddaughters Detta Cavanaugh and family, Christie Daster and family, and Traci Bartells; great granddaughter Susan Sabin and family; and great grandson Jullian Sabin and family.
She was a member of Saint Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
