Don Larry “Doc” Adams

Don Larry “Doc” Adams was born on March 5, 1961 to Larry and Colleen Adams in Cedar City, Utah. His younger sister, Tamara, was born two years later on August 5, 1963.
His father’s career moved them to many places throughout the country before finally landing them in Richland, Washington. While attending Richland High School he met his future wife, Stephanie. They were married on December 31, 1981 in Richland. Immediately after the wedding, the two newlyweds drove to Cedar City where Don completed his degree in pre-med at Southern Utah State College (now SUU).
After completing his undergraduate degree in 1983 they moved to Davenport, Iowa where he enrolled at Palmer College of Chiropractic.
Upon graduating from Palmer in 1987, they moved to West Palm Beach, Florida where their first daughter, Lauren Michelle Adams, was born on June 19.
In the fall of 1989, the family relocated to beautiful Sedona, Arizona. He worked alongside a local doctor before purchasing the practice and officially opening the doors to Adams Chiropractic Clinic. On June 27, 1992, their second daughter, Kathryn Elaine Adams, was born in Cottonwood. In 2005, the couple divorced.
As Doc’s practice began to grow, so did his love for the community. His dedication for helping those around him extended beyond his practice and compelled him to get involved with the youth at the local high school.
From the time Red Rock High School opened its doors in 1994, he began to offer his services as a team doctor, coach and mentor. By the time his daughters arrived at the high school he was a well-established figure on the sidelines of every football game and was ever present on the basketball court. Both of his daughters played for the girls basketball program at the high school and he could be found at every game, home or away. Even after Katie’s graduation in 2010, he remained an influential fixture at the high school offering help wherever it was needed.
His passions in life, beyond his love for his family, included a long day on the golf course, hunting with family and friends, volunteering as a coach, caring for his patients, playing and watching sports and generally enjoying an active outdoor lifestyle.
Don is survived by his two daughters, Lauren and Katie Adams, his parents, Larry and Colleen Adams, his sister and her husband, Tamara and Rick Allen and their three children, special friend Kim Maney, as well as many uncles, aunts and cousins.
In his memory, a scholarship fund has been established through Chase Bank.
The Don Adams Student Athlete Scholarship Fund will award a Red Rock High School student athlete funds to use towards their continuing education. In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family has asked that you please consider making a donation towards this fund in his honor.
His services were held in Sedona, Arizona and he will be laid to rest at the Cedar City Cemetery in Cedar City, Utah.
