Michael A. Corbo
Michael Anthony Corbo, 20, of Fountain Hills passed away early Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009 from a head injury sustained in an auto accident.
Michael was born in Rochester, N.Y. on Aug. 31, 1989. He attended Wilford Woodruff Academy in Winter Park, Fla. and maintained honor roll status.
Michael loved music and one of his favorite things was to play his guitar and attend concerts of his favorite bands. He had great relationships with several close friends and loved playing his favorite video games.
Michael is survived by his mother, Kimberly Corbo of Fountain Hills; his father, Joseph Corbo of New York; his maternal grandmother, Ann Dillella; and paternal grandfather, Craig Chilton.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking donations be made to the National Autism Society of America.
Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints in Fountain Hills.
Leslie R. Howes
Leslie R. “Les” Howes, 75, passed away on Oct. 22, 2009. Les was born in Takoma Park, Md. on Nov. 29, 1933.
After graduating from Montgomery Jr. College he joined the Navy and served two years aboard the USS Whitehurst DE 634 and two years at FPO 850, Yokohoma, Japan.
He then attended Bryant College, graduating third in his class in 1959 with his BS in business administration. He joined Norton Abrasive Company and left after 10 years as a district manager where he entered the financial planning profession, retiring 33 years later.
Les was very active in the youth fellowship and Rockville, Md. Methodist Church. He was a Boy Scout leader, past president of the Sunset Kiwanis Club of Fountain Hills and a Mason.
He married Diane, his beloved wife of 43 years. He is also survived by his son, Steve, and daughter, Charlie Zabinski; sister-in-law, Mary Howes; nieces, Linda and Kim; and nephews, Sam and Alan.
Les and his family lived in the Valley for 33 years.
Military burial is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at the National Memorial cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix. The cemetery is located just north of Loop 101 on Cave Creek Road.

Zipporah Kill-Buitimea
Zipporah Kill-Buitimea, 44, a Fort McDowell resident, passed away Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at Scottsdale Healthcare, Shea Campus in Scottsdale.
She is survived by her mother, Ophelia Kill, and father, Stanley Kill; her spouse, Rafeal Buitimea; her sons, Ryan (Samueal) Kill, and Chioke Hart-Kelly; her daughter, Eliza Paya; her brothers, Darryl Kill (Liela Williams), Elijah Kill, Byron Kill (Cheryl Kill); and her sisters, Evangeline Zavala (Santos Zavala), Joy Kill, Samantha Kill and Mona Bakos (Joe Bakos).
Also surviving are aunts, Claudette “Wheaty” Rivera (Joe Rivera III) and Maxine Dickens. Her grandparents, James and Mae Kill, preceded her in death.
She was employed by Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation Tribal Court as a Deputy Clerk. She also taught in Mesa public schools, Carson City, Nev. and Phoenix’s Indian School. She was a member of the Fort McDowell Recreation Committee and a volunteer in the community.
A wake will be held at her residence, 5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 6. A funeral service will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Fort McDowell Recreation Center. Final internment will be at Fort McDowell cemetery.
Kathleen F. Krugel
A memorial service will be held for Kathleen Frances Krugel at Messenger Fountain Hills Chapel, 12065 N. Saguaro Blvd., Fountain Hills, AZ, at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009.
Marie Noorlag
Marie Noorlag, 53, of Fountain Hills passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 29, 2009.
Born in Richland, Wash. on July 28, 1956, her family moved several times finally settling in Lombard, Ill. where she graduated high school and met her husband, Joseph, in 1975. They were married 33 years last July 10.
Marie was actively involved in raising their four children and supported each of the children through karate, dance, drill team and many other activities too numerous to mention.
She and Joe moved to Colleyville, Texas near Fort Worth in 1992 and from there to Fountain Hills in 2005.
She has been an active supporter of the Susan G. Komen For the Cure, walking several times in Fort Worth and Phoenix to raise funds for breast cancer research.
She is survived by her mother, Nancy Boone, of Albuquerque, N.M.; her husband, Joseph, of Fountain Hills; daughters, Jennifer Cano and husband David, of The Colony, Texas, Allyssa Kimbrell and husband, Carlos, of Louisville, Texas; sons, Thomas (TJ), of The Colony, Texas, and James of Chicago, Ill.; a brother, Martin McLaren, of Tampa, Fla.; sisters, Carol Sue Hensley, of Roy, Utah, and Lynne Handling, of Albuquerque, N.M.; as well as three beautiful grandsons, Beckham Jude Kimbrell, Cameron Jon Cano and Aaron James Cano.
A funeral service will be held at Messinger’s Fountain Hills Chapel, 12065 Saguaro Blvd., on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 10 a.m.

Nancy Vohs
Nancy Vohs passed away on Nov. 1, 2009. Formerly of Holstein, Iowa.
She is survived by her husband, Donald J. Vohs. Nancy and Don had three children, Tammy Donaldson, her husband, Bud, and two grandsons, Ross, 24, and Bryce, 19 of Mesa. Their son, Todd Vohs, his wife, Annette and granddaughter, Danica, 4; youngest daughter, Kristi Huebner and her husband, Doug and sons, Colin, 6, and twin babies Roy and Barrett, age 3 months. Nancy has two sisters, Janet Kitchen of Fullerton, Calif. and Morgan Broms of La Jolla, Calif.: one brother, Stewert Henderson of Medford, Ore.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Holstein, Iowa.

Lou Aguilar
Lou Aguilar left this life Friday, Nov. 12, 2010 at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea hospital after his valiant heart gave way.
Much loved by all who knew him, Lou is predeceased by his first wife, Angeline, and his two brothers, Ernest and Vincent.
He leaves a grieving wife, Mae, who he has been married to for 17 years. He leaves two sons, Gregory and Jeffrey Aguilar and a daughter, Janet Foret from Texas.
He also leaves three stepchildren, Gregory Vajda of Hawaii, Barclay Vajda of San Diego and Donna Cirignani of Illinois.
Lou had a total of 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Services are to be held Thursday, Nov. 18, at Messinger’s Fountain Hills Mortuary chapel from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A mass will be held Friday, Nov. 19, at Church of the Ascension on Fountain Hills Boulevard at 10 a.m.
The flowers in heaven will bloom more beautifully for Lou is there. Vaya con dios my darling – ‘til we meet again.
Randolph Chester
Randolph Chester, 56, of Ft. McDowell, passed away Nov. 8, 2010 at the V.A. Medical Center.
Born in Miami, Ariz., he grew up in Miami until his enlistment in the US Navy., serving at sea during the Vietnam War from 1974 thru 1979.
Upon returning home, he enrolled at Maricopa Tech and received an Associates degree in Architecture. He practiced as a draftsman for a few years until his illness would not allow him to work again.
Eventually, he became a resident of the Veterans Nursing Home until his demise.
He is survived by his mother, Evelyne R. Chester; sisters, Roselynn Chester and Rebecca Warrington; three nieces, Saphira Chester, April Chester and Madonna Luna; and two nephews, Aaron Chester and Donovan Warrington III; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Monday, Nov. 15, at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary. Funeral was held at the gymnasium at Fort McDowell on Tuesday, Nov. 16.

Theresa M. Erickson
Theresa Marie Erickson, 83, of Fountain Hills, passed away on Nov. 28, 2010.
Theresa as born in Keokuk, Iowa on May 23, 1927 to Frank and Anna Weirather. She married Kenneth Erickson in 1949 and moved to Minneapolis.
Theresa and Ken settled in Chanhassen, Minn. on Lotus Lake where they raised their three children, Ken Jr., Terri and Mary.
After her children were grown Theresa returned to school completing her bachelor’s degree in business from Minnesota Metro State University. Theresa served 10 years as executive director of the Scott-Carver Economic Council.
As supervisor at Carver County Social Services Theresa assisted single mothers and other low income residents in finding employment and child care.
In 1984 Ken and Theresa retired to Rio Verde where she enjoyed golfing, sewing and cooking for her family.
Theresa was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Flavin. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Kenneth Erickson; her children Terri Sexton and Ken Erickson Jr.; her grandchildren, Kasey and Kelley Flavin, Jessica Heimer, Alison and Steven Sexton; her great grandchildren, Halia Flavin and Benjamin Heimer; and her brothers, Frank Jr. and Harold Weirather.
Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral mass at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011 at Fountain Hills Church of the Ascension. Interment will follow at Green Acres cemetery in Scottsdale.
Shirley T. Hess
Shirley T. Hess passed away Dec. 6, 2010 at the age of 86.
She was born in Buffalo, N.Y. on Oct. 23, 1924. Her maiden name was Shirley May Tice.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Grant, and is survived by her sons, Grant T. Hess Jr. and Scott F. Hess. She had four grandchildren, Stephanie, Michael, Jack and Rachel.
She was an alumnus of the University of Buffalo before it became part of the New York State University System and was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority.
A loving mother and homemaker, when her family had grown Shirley resumed her career as a buyer in retail merchandising for which she was naturally talented. After retiring she and her husband moved to Charlotte, N.C., relocating nine years later to Fountain Hills, then 19 years later to Albuquerque, N.M.
Beckwith Horton
Beckwith Horton, a resident of Fountain Hills, died on Monday, Dec. 13, 2010 at his home.
His wife, Gwen; son, Keith; daughter, Pamela; three grandchildren; five siblings and many other loving relatives, survive him.
Beck and Gwen wintered in Fountain Hills before becoming permanent residents two years ago. Beck came to Arizona because he loved the sun, golfing year round, and his growing dislike for the cold Minnesota winters.
Family and friends will miss him.
The Memorial Service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at Trinity Lutheran Church located at 13770 Fountain Hills Boulevard.
June A. Post
June A. Post, 86, of Fountain Hills died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010 in Scottsdale.
June was a retired secretary for a manufacturing firm. She is survived by her sons, George R. Post of Phoenix and Robert D. Post (Carol A.) of Fountain Hills; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Messinger Fountain Hills Chapel, 12065 N. Saguaro Blvd.
Final interment will be at the Arlington National cemetery, Arlington, Va. at a later date.
Robert E. Anderson
Robert Ernest Anderson died peacefully at his home in Fountain Hills, on Sept. 5, 2010.
Bob was born June 10, 1924 in Wilmette, Ill., son of Evald and Esther (Wendell) Anderson, the second of four children. He graduated from New Trier High School and served in the Navy from 1943 - 1945, completing Aviator training in Florida.
He studied at the University of Illinois and was a member of the first graduating class of the Thunderbird School of Global Management (1947) in Phoenix. Bob married Lois Peterson, a childhood schoolmate, on June 21, 1947, and they lived in Jakarta, Indonesia for a short time while Bob worked for Goodyear.
Returning to the U.S. he made a career in the insurance business, including working for 24 years and becoming a full partner at an agency in Wheaton, Ill.
Bob and Lois had three children together, and enjoyed many years of square dancing, sunfish-sailing on Lake Michigan, and gatherings with Bob's large family.
Bob loved golf - from his high school years as a caddy to his later years playing with proficient expertise.
Lois died in 1983, and Bob married Jeane Peacock in 1985. They moved to Rio Verde in 1987, and had 25 happy years together, traveling and playing golf. Bob was generous with his time and active in service, from Lions Club in Illinois to the Rio Verde Community Association, where he served for many years. In 2008, Bob and Jeane moved to Fountain View Village.
Bob is survived by his wife, Jeane; and his children, James (Betsy), Chuck, Marcia (Clancy) and Patricia (Dan); Jeane’s daughter; grandchildren, Christopher, Erika, Kevin, and Avery; great-granddaughter, Meredith; and sister, Ruth (Alfred).
His integrity, loyalty, business acumen and sense of humor earned Bob the respect and friendship of many. He will be missed by his large extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept 24, at Rio Verde Community Church, preceded by a private family ceremony of inurnment in the church memorial garden.

Jytte Essenburg
Jytte Essenburg of Fountain Hills went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010 following a strong battle with pancreatic cancer. Her family was at her side as she passed away peacefully, overlooking her floral backyard, which she so loved.
Born in Copenhagen, Denmark to Fredrick and Inga Andersen, she came to the United States in 1958 and became a U.S. citizen shortly thereafter. Her career included accounting, marketing and interior design. She was active in Danish clubs in Minneapolis and Phoenix and a proud member of the Danish Museum in Elkhorn, Ind., and a water aerobics class in Fountain Hills.
She was a loving wife, mother and friend, always caring for others. Even while suffering her own ills she cared deeply for others.
Jytte was a most gracious hostess, renowned for her Danish smorgasbords and beautiful table settings. She enjoyed gardening, nature walks, floral arranging and helping others. Her positive attitude and smile was comforting to her family and friends.
Jytte is survived by her husband, Roger Essenburg of Fountain Hills; daughters, Nina and Tom Briggs of Baudette, Minn.; Tina and Brad Lund of Breezy Point, Minn.; step-children, Randy and Lynda Essenburg of Dodge City, Kan., Mike and Carol Essenburg of Lincoln, Neb., Laura and Tim Miles of Tucson and Jeff and Jennifer Essenburg of Cleveland, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and her father and mother-in law, Jack and Ella Essenburg of Holland, Minn.
A celebration of her life service will be held at a later date, details to be announced.
Jytte was an exceptional lady who will be forever missed by family and friends.
