Michael Patrick Connor passed away April 24, 2006.
The son of Jim and Anne Connor, he lived in Fountain Hills since 1978.
Mr. Connor is survived by his wife, Pamela Connor, who loved him with all her heart; his best friend, Dave Smith; and a brother, John Connor.

Howard L. Percival
Howard L. Percival (Perce) was born on Aug. 25, 1940 in Quakertown, Pa. and died April 27, 2006 at his home in Fountain Hills. He was 65 years old.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Barbara Ann; his daughters, Jacqueline Ann Percival and Tracey Lynn Weaver; son-in-law Sherman Weaver; and three grandchildren, Trisha Lynn, Eric Joseph and Tiffany Lee-Ann, and a great-grandson Ethan Michael, and many life long friends.
Perce was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2006 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony on the Desert Episcopal Church located at 12990 E. Shea Blvd., Scottsdale.
In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Howard L. Percival may be made to St. Anthony on the Desert Episcopal Church.
Daniel R. Regan
Daniel R. Regan, 73, of Fountain Hills, died Wednesday, April 26, 2006.
Mr. Regan was born Jan. 30, 1933 in Woburn, Mass. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of Fountain Hills American Legion Post #58, and VFW Post #7507. He was owner of Panasonic Distributing (Gor-Dan’s Distributing Co.) and founded Fountain Hills Taxi.
Mr. Regan is survived by his wife, Rita (Jordan) Regan of Fountain Hills; three sons, Harvey Regan of Virginia, and Daniel Regan and Larry Regan, both of Connecticut; three stepdaughters, Cheryl Jones of Massachusetts, Deborah Raynen and Anessa Davola, both of California; a brother, Edward Regan; a sister, Helen Banks; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Dixon.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers the family is suggesting contributions be made to the Veterans Memorial Committee, c/o VFW Post 7507, P.O. Box 20677, Fountain Hills, AZ 85269.
Julie Ann Zelasko
Julie Ann Zelasko, age 48, of Fountain Hills, passed Saturday, April 29, 2006 at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Steven; son, Andrew; daughter, Allison; and mother, Joy Back; all are Fountain Hills residents.
She is also survived by a sister, Lisa Ubik of Chicago; brothers, Thomas of Phoenix and William of Reno, Nev.; her mother-in-law, Esther Zelasko of Calumet City, Ill.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Steve and Janet Mitchell of Minneapolis, Minn.
Julie was employed by T&T Construction of Fountain Hills.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 3, at 4 p.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Steve Bergeson officiating.
Memorials may be given to Shepherd of the Hills for use in the Sunday School where Julie was a devoted teacher for 10 years.
Julie will be forever in our hearts.
Crystal Rose Hinton
Crystal Rose Hinton of Fort McDowell died Tuesday, May 2, 2006 She was 18.
She was born Aug. 16, 1987 in Phoenix and was a student.
She is survived by her mother, Debbie Haynes of Fort McDowell and her step-father, Eric Cracium of Fort McDowell; her godparents, Mariam and Gerald Alsenay of White River, Ariz.; a brother, Christopher Hinton, and sister, Cherlyn Hinton, both of Fort McDowell; her grandparents, Helen and Woodrow Wilson of Shawnee, Okla., Vernon and Josie Haynes of Fort McDowell, and Zonie Hinton of White River; her aunts and uncles, Lee and Reva Quotsktyva, Darold and Harriet Haynes, Turik and Daletha Rivera and Dorene Haynes, all of Fort McDowell; a nephew, Darius Hinton-Lejero of Fort McDowell; and various other family members.
Visitation was held Tuesday, May 9, at her mother’s residence and funeral services will be Wednesday, May 10, at 2 p.m. at Fort McDowell Community Center. Interment will be at Fort McDowell cemetery.
Ann LeMonde
Ann LeMonde, age 86, Fountain Hills resident for 33 years, died in Michigan on Friday, May 5, 2006.
She was preceded in death by husband Richard LeMonde, who died in April of 2004. They were married just one month short of 60 years.
Ann is survived by a daughter, Denise Chopp of Fraser, Mich.; son, Dennis LeMonde of Tampa, Fla.; as well as four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Ann was active in St. Vincent de Paul, the Rosary Group and the Daughters of Isabella, which Ann founded in Fountain Hills through the Catholic Church of the Ascension.
Ann will be missed by all her Fountain Hills friends, of which there were many. Services will be held in Fraser, Mich. Those wishing to honor Ann are asked to have a mass said on her behalf.
James R. Olin
For about 40 years, veterinarian James R. Olin worked wonders with pets in St. Paul.
He could talk to animals and make them feel better, said Dr. Sam Hunter, a heart surgeon who became friends with Olin after the vet began taking care of his German shepherd in the 1960s. "There was a magic about him."
Olin, a decorated veteran and longtime Mendota Heights resident, died April 15 of natural causes. He was 80.
He was training to become an engineer as a young Army recruit during World War II but he knew he wanted to work with animals, said his wife, Marilyn Olin. So, at the end of the war, he headed back to Kansas to study veterinary medicine.
He rejoined the U.S. Army as a member of the Veterinary Corps at Fort Snelling in 1950, the year he completed his veterinary studies. He quit the service in 1953 to work with Arnold Feist, then one of only a few St. Paul veterinarians. A year later he bought Feist’s hospital.
His specialty was small animals, but he treated all kinds of sick animals, including a tiger from the Como Zoo, his wife said.
Earlier in his career, Olin treated dogs and cats that were hit by cars and became an expert in fixing broken bones, she said, adding that he was always on call.
"He was tall and big, yet so gentle," and he felt for both the animals and the owners, she said. He would put his arm around grieving pet owners and console them about their injured or dead pet.
His other interest was community service, Hunter said. Olin was involved with the St. Paul Rotary Club, the Salvation Army Advisory Board and the Humane Society for Companion Animals. He donated time to perform surgeries on small animals for the group until he had a stroke in 1994, his wife said.
Olin loved talking about his years in the Army and "would tell a good story," Hunter said.
In addition to his wife of 54 years, survivors include his son David of Mendota Heights and two granddaughters.
Services were held in St. Paul, Minn.

Adrian Titiriga
Adrian Titiriga of Fountain Hills died Friday, May 5, 2006 in Fountain Hills.
Mr. Titiriga was born April 13, 1960 in Pecica-Arad, Romania. He worked as an air conditioning technician.
He is survived by his mother, Drghina Titiriga of Romania; and an extended family including John Bucur and family, George Burca and family, Florian Sabo and family; and his ex-wife, Adriana Titiriga.
He will be missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 15, at 10 a.m. at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary, 12065 Saguaro Blvd.
William E. Farrell
William E. Farrell ("Bill") died May 12, 2006, after a brave nine month battle with lung cancer.
He was born July 31, 1940 in Chicago, Ill, son of William and Loretta Farrell. He graduated from St. Ignatius College Prep in 1957; he married Karen Lee Goodfellow in 1960. He received his bachelor's degree from Loyola University in Chicago and Juris Doctorate in Law from the University of Arizona.
Bill built a reputation as one of the premier municipal attorneys in the state of Arizona. He served as town attorney or legal consultant for several municipalities over the years, including Yuma, Glendale, Scottsdale, Litchfield Park, Paradise Valley, Apache Junction, Chino Valley, Fountain Hills, Queen Creek and Cave Creek.
For the past five years, Bill worked for the law firm of Mariscal Weeks McIntyre & Friedlander. His accomplishments include crafting state legislation, incorporating towns and arguing hillside development regulations before the U.S. Supreme Court in the Corrigan case.
He was very proud of his work in persuading the PGA to move the Phoenix Open to Scottsdale which included the acquisition and development of the Princess Hotel and the Tournament Players Club for Scottsdale.
Personally, he influenced hundreds of young men by serving the community as a baseball coach for more than 15 years. His love for baseball was rewarded in 2005, when his beloved White Sox won the World Series.
He was a devout Catholic and he and Karen are twelve year members of St. Patrick's Catholic Community where he served in various ministries.
Bill is survived by his wife of 46 years, Karen Lee; sons and daughter in-laws Terry and Naomi of Gilbert, Bill and Sandy of Phoenix and Tim and Tara of Mesa; daughter and son in-law Pam and Bill Nielsen of Henderson, Nev.; and eight grandchildren: Kristen, Kimberly, Kelley, Kelsi, Billy, Caitlin, Kendra and Erin.
In his last days, he was surrounded by loving friends and colleagues, to whom his family is very appreciative. His passing has left a void in all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Visitation and rosary will be held from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17 at Messenger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary, 8555 E. Pinnacle Peak Rd., Scottsdale. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, May 18, at St. Patrick's Catholic Community, 10815 N. 84th St., Scottsdale, at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at Holy Redeemer cemetery in Phoenix.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and the American Diabetes Association.
Dorothy M. Hinkle
Dorothy M. Hinkle, 87, of Rio Verde died May 11, 2006 at the Eckstein Center in Scottsdale.
Mrs. Hinkle was born Dec. 7, 1918 in Omaha, Neb. She had worked as a stock clerk with J.C. Penny and was a member of St. Dominic’s Mission in Rio Verde.
Mrs. Hinkle is survived by one son, Ron Hinkle of Fall River, Mass; a daughter, Donna Hoover (Gary) of Rio Verde; two sisters, Lucille Sramek of Iowa and Betty Poulicek (John) of Omaha; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation with a Rosary for Mrs. Hinkle was held Monday, May 15, at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 16, at St. Dominic’s Mission at Rio Verde.

Ralph Greer
Ralph Alan Greer, 76, of Fountain Hills, and an Arizona resident for 35 years, passed away on May 17, 2006.
He was born to Mayetta and Cyrus K. Greer on Nov. 26, 1929 on a farm near Oxford, Neb.
His life-long occupation was as an electrical lineman, beginning with the REA in Nebraska and retiring from Arizona Public Service in 1991. He served 20 years in the National Guard in Nebraska and Colorado.
An active promoter of Boy Scouts of America, he organized a troop in Granby, Colo. and functioned as Scout Master for a number of years.
He was an accomplished woodcarver and earned many awards. A member of Arizona Woodcarver Association for 33 years, he contributed time and energy as an officer for most of that time. He was also a member of The Grand Canyon State Woodcarvers.
Ralph was a devoted husband and father. Honest and unpretentious, with a subtle sense of humor, he was well-liked by those with whom he associated. His unwavering faith was important to him, and he was church-involved all his life.
His survivors include Nelia, his wife of nearly 54 years; children, Julene Dawson (Gene) of Glendale, Christa Farr (Stuart) of Gilbert, Dave Greer (Mary) of Phoenix and Gretchen Jacobs (Tim) of Phoenix; and 10 grandchildren: Alicia, David, Andrew, Natalie, Evan, Cole, Sierra, Lauren, Edward and Tristan.
His sisters are Marjoria Loretta Kratzer of Bellevue, Neb. and Georgia Ruth Boswell of Wincherster, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Cyrus M. Greer and Waldo Greer.
A memorial service will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church ELCA at El Lago and Fountain Hills boulevards in Fountain Hills on Friday, May 26, at 2 p.m. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.

Beth Kalmbach Shafe
Beth Kalmbach Shafe of Fountain Hills died Monday, May 15, as the result of a stroke.
Beth was born March 31, 1917 in Detroit, Mich., to Louise and Josephine Kalmbach. As her family didn’t have the wherewithal to send her and her brother, Don, to college, she worked her way through on her own, demonstrating at an early age her uncanny ability to accomplish a goal in spite of significant obstacles.
After graduating with bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Wayne State University in Michigan, Beth taught music and related studies in the Detroit public schools for 32 years. She also performed on cello and harp and gave many hours as a volunteer promoter of the musical arts.
Beth married Fred Shafe in 1942. The two of them shared a deep love of music and the arts that would help bind them together for more than 50 years. They had two children, Tim and Jeff, both of whom shared their love of music.
Beth was an incorporator and president of the Mu Phi Epsilon, a musical arts fraternity that promotes music, friendship and harmony. She was presented the fraternity’s first lifetime achievement award and was the recipient of the Hixon Award for service to Children.
After she and Fred moved to Fountain Hills in 1994, she became an active volunteer. She served 11 years on the In-Home Concerts Committee and was most involved with the Fountain Hills Arts Council.
She has also served as president of the Fountain Hills P.E.O. chapter and served terms on the boards of the Noon Kiwanis Club and the Fountain Hills Historical Society. Most recently she was inducted into the Lower Verde Valley Hall of Fame in recognition of her many volunteer efforts.
In spite of her many achievements, Beth will most profoundly be remembered by those whose hearts she touched along the way. Her cheerful, "can-do" spirit was appreciated by many and will be remembered for many years to come.
A memorial service is planned for Friday, June 16, at the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church.
