Margaret Blasing
Former Fountain Hills resident Margaret Blasing died June 20, 2002 in Las Vegas, Nev. She was 92.
She and her husband, "Cy," were residents of Fountain Hills for 23 years.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol Mannes of Las Vegas and Bette Sutton of Denver, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
William S. Trowbridge
William Scott Trowbridge, a Fountain Hill resident, died July 4 at Scottsdale Health Care Shea Hospital. He was 81.
Mr. Trowbridge was born March 29, 1921 in Detroit, Mich. He worked as an insurance salesman for a living.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II. He was a 1943 graduate of the University of Michigan, a member of The Club and a member of the Church of the Ascension in Fountain Hills.
His wife, Ruth K. Trowbridge, of Fountain Hills; sons William (Amy) Trowbridge of Glendale, Ariz. and Steven Trowbridge of Denver, Colo.; daughters Sharon Trowbridge and Susan Trowbridge, both of Denver, Colo. and grandchild Casey Trowbridge of Glendale, Ariz. survive him.
A memorial mass was held Monday, July 8, at the Church of the Ascension. Contributions may be made in Mr. Trowbridge’s honor to the charity of one’s choice.
Darrell J. Wolfe
Darrell J. Wolfe, age 60, died July 6 at the VA Hospital in Phoenix. Mr. Wolfe was born in Cleveland, Ohio on Nov. 9, 1941.
He was a resident of Fountain Hills and worked as a retail sales clerk. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fountain Hills.
His wife, Joan Wolfe of Fountain Hills, son Ted Wolf (Amanda) of Lake Zurich, Ill., sister Anne Skiera of Lithonia, Ga. and grandchild Ashley Wolfe survive him.
A visitation will be today, Wednesday, July 10, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary, located at 12065 N. Saguaro Blvd. A service will be Thursday, July 11, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 13770 N. Fountain Hills Blvd. Interment will be at Windridge cemetery in Cary, Ill.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or to the Veteran’s Administration of Phoenix
Ann Conner
Ann Conner, 69, of Fountain Hills, died July 13, at her home.
Mrs. Conner was born Sept. 21, 1933 in Cranford, N.J. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Conner is survived by her husband, James Richard Conner of Fountain Hills; three sons, John J. Conner (Camille) of Fountain Hills, Glen Richard Conner (Penny) of Phoenix, and Michael Patrick Conner of Fountain Hills; one brother, Robert Kuntzman of Florida; two sisters, Joyce Moons of Knox, N.Y. and Mary Scanlon of Lakehurst N.J.; two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
A memorial Mass for Mrs. Conner will be held Friday, July 19, at 10 a.m. at Church of the Ascension, 12615 Fountain Hills Boulevard.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, 2701 N. 16th Street, Suite 120, Phoenix, AZ 85006.
Phyllis Robison
Phyllis "Shan" A. Robison, 77, a winter resident of Fountain Hills since 1985, passed away July 11 at her Fountain Hills residence.
The homemaker from Indianola, Iowa was born Feb. 15, 1925 in Lucas, Iowa. She was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Fountain Hills and the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Indianola.
Survivors include her son, Jeffrey C. Robison (Maria) of Belle Vista, Ark.; daughter, Juli Coady (Rich) of Fountain Hills; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service was held July 15 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
Lika Muasau
Lika Muasau, 69, of Fountain Hills died July 25, at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea hospital.
Mrs. Muasau was born Sept. 25, 1932 in Pago Pago, American Samoa. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by five sons, Fa’afetai Muasau of Waianae, Hawaii, Maua Muasau of Tacoma, Wash., Asoailoa Muasau of Vancouver, Wash., Usufono Muasau of Clallam Bay, Wash, and Gatula Muasau of Tacoma, Wash.; six daughters, Aisha Khan of Tacoma, Wash, Saioloa Muasau of Tacoma, Wash., Fa’afofola Muasau of Puyallup, Wash., Vasati Siamupeni of Tacoma, Wash., Saligi Muasau of Fountain Hills, and Telesia Muasau of American Samoa; one brother, Lafaele A’etonu, Savai’I, Western Samoa; one sister, Linda Roach, of Green Valley, Ariz.; 50 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services of Mrs. Muasau will be held Thursday, Aug. 1, at 5 p.m. at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary, 12065 Saguaro Blvd.
Grace Riscossa
Grace Riscossa, wife of Vito Riscossa, of Fountain Hills died Aug. 27, 2002.
Born Dec. 25, 1915, she also is survived by her children, Pat and Sharlene Riscossa of Fountain Hills, John and Kathy Riscossa of Chicago and John and Roseann Fontaine of Fountain Hills; grandchildren Doreen Meyer, Claudine Fuller, Jennifer Riscossa, Anthony Riscossa, Deanna Riscossa, Michelle Hagan, April Oliva, Denise Wilson and Karisa Riscossa; and great-grandchildren Brett Vito, Shea Meyer, Christopher Riscossa, Taylor and Corey Hagan, Adam Oliva and Trey and Gage Fuller.
Visitation will be held at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, with a memorial service at Fountain Hills First Assembly of God Church at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30.
Burial will be at St. Francis cemetery in Phoenix
George A. Wilson
George A. Wilson returned to his heavenly home on July 7, 2002 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Wilson was born to Frances Georgina Jacobsen and Joseph R. Wilson on June 10, 1926. He was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and served in the U.S. Navy as a radar specialist on the aircraft carrier USS Antietam during World War II.
Mr. Wilson married Beverly E. Wilson on Aug. 29, 1950 and later sealed the union in the Salt Lake Temple. They moved with their three children to Scottsdale in 1964, and made their home in Fountain Hills beginning in 1973.
Mr. Wilson was an avid golfer and a building contractor by trade. He was a high priest in the LDS Church and enjoyed working with the Fort McDowell branch of the church.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife of 52 years, Beverly; his children, Linda (John) Grabau, Pam (Eric) Bloland and Cory (Cheryl) Wilson; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one sister and three brothers.
Services were held in the LDS Chapel, Sundy, Utah, on July 12, 2002.
Eldrid W. Nelson
Eldrid E. Nelson, 85, of Fountain Hills, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, in Fountain Hills.
Mr. Nelson was born in Minneapolis, Minn. and moved to Arizona in 1976. He was vice president and general manager of Charles Olson & Sons.
Mr. Nelson is survived by his wife, Billie Bliss; two sons, Larry B. and Stephen J.; one daughter, Cynthia L.; his brother, Vernon (Pete) L.; grandsons, Michael, Scott, Brian, John David and James P.; granddaughters, Lily and Beth; great granddaughter Emily Beth; stepdaughter Billie Lee; a step-grandson, Tim; and a step-granddaughter, Evelyn.
A memorial service for Mr. Nelson will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m. at Rio Verde Community Church Chapel. At gathering will follow at the Tonto Verde Clubhouse.

Roger Stubbins
Roger K. Stubbins, 73, died Aug. 15, 2002 at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji, Minn.
Memorial services were held Aug. 19 at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Bemidji.
Dr. Stubbins was born in Grand Forks, N.D. on Nov. 13, 1928 to Donald and Agnes Stubbins.
After high school he enlisted in the Marines and played in the Marine Corps Band in San Diego, Calif.
Following his time in the service he attended college, graduating from the University of Minnesota’s School of Dentistry.
He practiced dentistry for 40 years. After retirement he enjoyed spending winters in Fountain Hills, where he was a member of The Club.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; two sons, Mark and Craig; a daughter, Julie; and a brother, Robert.

Taylor Crothers
Taylor Robert Crothers, an infant, passed away Sept. 7, 2002, following a two-month stay in Phoenix Children’s Hospital NICU at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Phoenix.
He was born July 2, 2002 to parents Anthony (Tony) and Amy (Hutchison) Crothers of Fountain Hills.
He is survived by his sister Brooke Crothers at home; grandparents, Gloria Stradley of Heath, Ohio, Roberta (Dolly) Crothers of Newark, Ohio, Sam and Claudia Fanelli of Fountain Hills; great-grandmothers, Dorothy Miller of Dresden, Ohio, and Jane VandeVeeGaete of Heath, Ohio, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by grandfather Robert Crothers of Newark, Ohio, great-grandfather Harold Miller of Dresden, Ohio, great-grandfather James Moyer of Erie, Pa., and great-grandparents Salvatore and Elsie Fanelli of Jeanette, Pa.
No services were held. His body was donated to the Willed Body Program at the University of Texas in Houston, Texas in hopes that through his death other babies’ lives may be saved.
Richard Deibner
Richard Brush Deibner, 86, of Fountain Hills died Sept. 18, 2002 at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea.
Born Oct. 31, 1915 in Spirit Lake, Iowa, Mr. Deibner worked as a patrolman for the department of transportation during his adult career.
Survivors include his wife, Elfrieda Deibner of Fountain Hills; son, Richard Deibner Jr. (Lynda) of Torrence, Calif.; daughter, Donna Sims of Hermosa Beach, Calif.; sister, Rachel Wegmen (Orville) of Milford, Iowa; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation was held Sept. 23 followed by a funeral service at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fountain Hills.
Interment was at Resthaven Park cemetery in Glendale.

Jeanne Elaine deJong
Jeanne Elaine deJong, nee Dormand. Born November 18, 1921 in Evanston, Ill., died Thursday, Sept. 26, at her home in Fountain Hills.
She was the daughter of William L. and Velda Leona Homan Dormand. Graduated Evanston High School, class of 1938 and Evanston Business College in 1940. During World War II, she was a Nurse’s Assistant for the Red Cross and worked for the government in the bomb distribution sector in San Francisco, Calif. While there she met and married her beloved husband of 57 years, Jan Andries deJong of Vlaardingen, Netherlands, who preceded her in death November 21, 2001. They moved to Deerfield, Ill. in 1954.
Mrs. deJong was faithfully active all of her life in church activities; including the Chancel Choir, Church Secretary, Sr. Youth Fellowship, Couples Fellowship Dinners, Ladies Auxiliary and as a fundraising coordinator. Jeanne also assisted her husband with fundraisers and events for the Deerfield Fire Dept., where he was the volunteer Fire Chief. She was also deeply involved in all activities regarding Little League, Babe Ruth League and the Parent’s Booster Club for Deerfield High School.
In 1963, the deJongs moved to Brussels, Belgium, where Mrs. deJong was continually involved in the events and fundraisers for the International School of Brussels, where her children attended, the American Protestant Church and the American Baseball League that played all over Europe. She was the Secretary and then President of the American Women’s Club until 1965, when the family returned to Deerfield, Ill.
Upon moving back to Illinois, she resumed her many activities in fundraising and sports and was the President’s Administrative Assistant at the Deerfield State Bank. She and her husband were the Co-Presidents and founders of the Lake County Illinois Gourmet Club that existed over 30 years.
When her husband retired, they moved to Fountain Hills, after searching over 25,000 miles for where they felt at "home." Mrs. deJong immediately became involved in the community by volunteering for the Chamber of Commerce and she and Mr. DeJong became Ambassadors for the community a short while later, a position that they both considered an honor and were devoted to for over seven years.
Jeanne deJong is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, William L. Dormand, and her loving and devoted husband. She is survived by her daughter, Janean D. Hendley, Fountain Hills, Ariz. her son, James A. deJong (Amy), Columbia, Mo., her grandchildren Christopher Hendley, Kenosha, Wis., Anthony Hendley (DeAnna) Pleasant Prairie, Wis., Nicholas and Molly deJong, Columbia, Mo. Her great-grandchildren Jeremy Huffine, Gurnee, Ill., Stephanie Hendley, Kenosha, Wis., Alysa and Arynn Hendley, Pleasant Prairie, Wis. and a host of friends in this world that will all miss her dearly on this earth.
A memorial service for Jeanne deJong will be held on Friday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. at the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church on Fountain Hills Boulevard.
Mary Patton
Mary M. Patton, 85, of Fountain Hills passed away Sept. 26, 2002 in Chandler.
She was born Feb. 5, 1917 in Pawnee, Ill. She had been a bookkeeper in the medical industry.
Mrs. Patton had been a Fountain Hills resident for 24 years and was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert H. Patton.
She is survived by her daughter, Anna Wilhelm, of Phoenix; grandchildren, David Wilhelm (Lori) of Chandler, Robert Wilhelm of Phoenix and Lori Wilhelm of Phoenix.
Services were held Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Church of the Ascension in Fountain Hills.
Mrs. Patton was actively involved in the Lions organization and the Women’s Club and was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
The family requests that memorial donations go to the American Cancer Society or the Arizona Kidney Foundation.
Janine Seyler
Janine Seyler, 74, of Fountain Hills died Sept. 28, at home after losing her two-year battle with leukemia.
Born Nov. 5, 1927 in Paris, France, Janine was a homemaker, loving wife, wonderful mother and adoring grandmother and great-grandmother. Janine moved to her dream home in Fountain Hills two years ago after living in Franklin Park, Ill. for 43 years. Janine and husband, Peter, traveled the world together and enjoyed life to the fullest. They left France in 1952 with two toddlers and two suitcases to find a better life in America, with a lot of hard work and determination they accomplished their goal.
Survivors include Peter, her husband of nearly 56 years, of Fountain Hills; two sons, Gerard (Carmen) Seyler of Gilberts, Ill., and Bruce (Kathy) Seyler of Schaumburg, Ill.; a daughter, Sylvia (Joseph) Strazz of Fountain Hills; a brother, Georges (Madeline) Haberbusch and sister Suzanne (Serge) Chambrier of France, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews of France.
Janine had five grandchildren, Jeanne (Fred) Allen of Webb City, Mo., Jennifer and Peter Seyler of St. Charles, Ill., Joe (Lisa) Strazz, Jr. of Chandler, Ariz. and Lisa Janine (Scott) Hesse of Fountain Hills.
Janine adored her seven great grandchildren, Wylie Guy and Casey Aric Allen of Webb City, Mo., Julia Grace and Emma Janine Strazz of Chandler, and Jake Troy and Nicole Janine Hesse of Fountain Hills.
A viewing was held Sunday, Sept. 29, at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary. It was her wish to be cremated.
Janine will be missed by all who knew and lover her.
