Lucille Davidson

Lucille Davidson (Dempsey), 78, of Scottsdale passed away Aug. 22, 2000.

She was born Jan. 28, 1922 in Canton, Ohio to Dennis and Zella (Garthwaite) Dempsey. She raised her family in Euclid, Ohio and retired from the Euclid Ohio Library system. She moved to Sagamore Hills, Ohio before coming to Fountain Hills.

Ms. Davidson is preceded in death by her brother, Walter, and her sisters, Zella McCoy and Dorothy Dempsey. She is survived by Harold, her husband of 56 years; and daughters Barbette Lobella, Deborah Zdanowicz, Claudia Irwin, Lydia Schlenkert and nine grandchildren.

Memorial services for Ms. Davidson were held at Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church on Aug. 28.

Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to Holden Arboretum, 9500 Sperry Road, Willoughby, OH 44094, or to 32nd Degree Masonic Learning Center for Children, Inc., P.O. Box 519, Lexington, MA 02420-0519.

Dorothy Hunnicutt

Dorothy "Dottie" Eunice Hunnicutt, 78, of Fountain Hills died Tuesday, Aug. 22, in Goodyear, Ariz.

Ms. Hunnicutt, a bookkeeper, was born in Sandy, Ore. Survivors include a sister, Lorena Dietrich; a brother, Aaron Updegrave; three daughters, Phyllis Lee, Carol Hudson and Susan Condon; a son, James Gregg; and 11 grandchildren.

Private services for Ms. Hunnicutt are to be held in Glide, Ore.

The family is suggesting memorial contributions to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.

Funeral arrangements were by Best Funeral Services.

Mary Ann Neuleib

Mary Ann Neuleib, 85, of Fountain Hills, died Aug. 25 at the Eckstein Center in Scottsdale.

Ms. Neuleib was born Jan. 20, 1915 in Winnipeg, Canada. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Ascension and a volunteer at the Mayo Clinic.

Ms. Neuleib is survived by two sons, James Phillips (Tiki) of San Francisco and Donald L. Phillips of Fountain Hills; two daughters, Patricia Ann Loll (Paul) of Battle Lake, Minn. and Geraldine Martino, Las Vegas, Nev.; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

A funeral Mass for Ms. Neuleib was held on Monday, Aug. 28 at Church of the Ascension in Fountain Hills. Interment is at Riverside cemetery, Longville, Minn.

James Treptow

James E. Treptow, 72, of Fountain Hills died Aug. 26, 2000, the date of his 50th wedding anniversary.

Born March 28, 1928 in Fon du Lac, Wis., Mr. Treptow was an Arizona resident since 1959 and had lived in Fountain Hills since 1985.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons, Jeff of Phoenix and Gary of Mesa; daughter and son-in-law, Debi and Kevin Kealey; and grandchildren, Christopher and Heidi Ann Treptow and Sean and Nicole Kealey.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, with Pastor Scott Von Lanken of Fountain Hills Assembly of God officiating at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale.

Doris Miller

Doris Miller, 83, of Grand Forks, N.D. died Jan. 26, 2001.

Doris Billadeau was born July 30, 1917, the daughter of Hector and Ava (Johnson) Billadeau. She grew up and attended school in Raub, N.D. and attended Parshall, N.D. High School.

She married Lyle P. Miller on July 30, 1936 in Tolley, N.D. They lived in Mohall, N.D., Cavalier, N.D., Roseau, Minn. and in Fountain Hills.

They owned and operated the Miller Café in Cavalier and she worked as a nurse at the Cavalier Hospital.

She is survived by her sons, Perry (Lois) Miller of North Bend, Wash. and Rick Miller of Glendale; daughter, Joanne (Chester) Yon of Fountain Hills; brother, Leon (Lorraine) Billadeau of Parshall; and six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, sister Thelma Johnson and brother Everell Billadeau.

Louise C. Grillo

Louise C. Grillo, 85 of Fountain Hills died Sunday, April 8 in Scottsdale.

Ms. Grillo was born August 23, 1915 at Framingham, Mass. She was a homemaker.

Ms. Grillo is survived by two brothers, John Chiariello of Rhode Island, and Joseph Chiariello of California; two sisters, Helen Berrini of Florida and Mary Parlato of Massachusetts; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family is suggesting memorial contributions to the American Lung Association, 102 W. McDowell Road, Phoenix, AZ 85003.

Vincent (Pete) Smith

Vincent (Pete) Smith, 68 passed away April 7, 2001 in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Mr. Smith was born on June 18, 1932 in Grand Forks, N.D., the son of Frank and Edna Smith.

He was employed by the Grand Forks Seed, Co. and by Terra Chemical International, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Rae (Rossow); one son Vincent Peter (Virginia), Colfax, ND; one daughter Suzanne (Joseph) DeSerto, Chicago, IL; one sister Barbara (Ralph) McDowell, Zionsville, IN; one brother Robert, Grand Forks, ND; three grandchildren, Michaela, Joseph and Hannah; three step-grandchildren, Rachel, Tony and Michael, 13 nieces and nephews and many, many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard.

A memorial services was held at the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, April 10. Memorial contributions may be made to the Phoenix Children’s Hospital, 1300 N. 12th Street, #404, Phoenix, AZ 85006.

Horace E. Wright

Horace E. Wright, 87, of Fountain Hills died Nov. 15 at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital North.

Born Jan. 12, 1910 in Jamestown, Tenn., Mr. Wright was a retired meat cutter with 30 years experience as the food service supervisor at Miami University in Ohio.

He was also a World War II navy veteran and a member of the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Euna Wright; two daughters, Donna Yordy of Fountain Hills and Louise Beckett of Orangeburgh, S.C.; three sisters; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Interment will be held at Darrtown Cemetary in Milford Township, Ohio.

Contributions are being accepted by Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 18044, Fountain Hills, AZ 85269.

Lyle Pringle

Lyle Allan Pringle, 80, a prominent and highly-respected figure in the cattle industry, died Nov. 11, 1997 at his Fountain Hills retirement home.

He was born in Floyd County, Iowa on his family's farm on Aug. 7, 1917.

From 1974 until his retirement in 1987, he was vice president for procurement for National Beef Packers in Liberal, Kan.

Mr. Pringle began his career at the age of 19 as a cattle buyer for Jacob E. Decker and Sons in Mason City, Iowa, after learning the cattle business in partnership with his father, Ben Pringle, a livestock dealer in Marble Rock, Iowa, and also a buyer for Deckers.

He became an independent cattle buyer in 1942, a business venture that was interrupted by his service in the U.S. Army during World War II but resumed following his military stint.

From 1959 until 1965, Mr. Pringle was a partner in the Clear Lake Livestock Auction and was employed by Iowa Beef Processors in Dakota City, Neb. and Guymon, Okla. from 1965 until his employment by National Beef Packers in 1974.

On June 20, 1938, Mr. Pringle married Winifred S. Ackley, with whom he shared a devoted, caring and generous family life and with whom he retired to Fountain Hills in December, 1987 after 54 years in the cattle industry.

Survivors include his wife, Winnie, of Fountain Hills; daughter and son-in-law, Winnie P. and H. Gary Pannell of Atlanta, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Lynn A. and Laura S. Pringle, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Pringle was an active member of various Methodist churches during his life, including The Fountains, A United Methodist Church in Fountain Hills, as well as several civic and professional organizations including The Club of Fountain Hills, Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association, American National Cattlemen's Association and the BPOE.

The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014-5699.

Services were held Nov. 16 at The Fountains with the Rev. Ed Grant officiating.

Adrien Paris

Adrien J. Paris of Fountain Hills died on Nov. 3, 1999 at a Scottsdale Hospital. He was 65.

Mr. Paris was born Aug. 22, 1934 in Goffstown, N.H. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1956 and was the retired owner and operator of an auto repair center.

Mr. Paris was a founding member of the New England Vintage Thunderbird Club, the Time Travelers Car Club and the Arizona Chapter of Vintage Thunderbirds.

Mr. Paris was also a member of the Mercedes Benz Car Club of Arizona, the Uncanoonic Mountaineers Snowmobile Club of Goffstown, the Better Business Bureau of New Hampshire and the Goffstown Men’s Bowling League.

Survivors include his wife, Ann, of Fountain Hills; five daughters, Deena Paris of New Boston, N.H., Lea Devriendt of Goffstown, Karen DeYoung, Lauri Young and Audrey Kanik all of New Boston; nine grandchildren; a brother, Alfred Paris of Manchester, N.H.; a step mother, Yvonne Paris of Bedford, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews.

A service for Mr. Paris was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 8, 1999 at Church of the Ascension. An interment took place at Mount Calvary cemetery in Manchester, N.H.

Donations in his memory can be made to The Scott Goudreault Memorial Scholarship in care of The Uncanoonic Mountaineers at P.O. Box 486 in Goffstown, N.H., 03045.

Darlene Swensen

Darlene Swensen, 48, of Fountain Hills died on Nov. 4, 1999 in Scottsdale.

Born March 4, 1951 in Mound, Minn., Mrs. Swensen was a self-employed homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene Swensen of Fountain Hills, and a brother, Robert Ebert of Wayzata, Minn.

A memorial gathering for Mrs. Swensen will be held at 10 a.m. today, Nov. 10, at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary, 12065 N. Saguaro Boulevard.

Gail Barringer

Gail Thorley Barringer, 47, a homemaker and former Fountain Hills resident, passed away Nov. 6, 1999 in Lakewood, Calif.

Survivors include her husband, Jay R. Barringer; son, Michael; parents, Vincent and Dorothy Cremonese of Fountain Hills and Douglas and Dorothy Thorley of Riverside, Calif.; five sisters, Lynne Harnois of Kaysville, Utah, Kerrie Bringhurst and Jan DellaVedova of New Harmony, Utah, and Susan Hixson and Michelle Smout of Fountain Hills; and 19 nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in New Harmony, Utah.

Ted Chebat

Teofyl "Ted" O. Chebat, 93, of Fountain Hills died Nov. 11, 1999 in Scottsdale.

Born Feb. 23, 1906 in Raseinai, Lithuania, Mr. Chebat came to Fountain Hills in 1977 to retire after owning a tavern in Chicago, Ill. for many years.

A furniture maker by trade, Mr. Chebat spent many of his retirement years building furniture for family and friends out of his home-based wood shop.

He was a member of Church of the Ascension.

Survivors include his son, Don (Mary Ann) Chebat; three grandchildren, Don, Terri and Bob; two great-grandchildren, Tanya and Heather; one great-great-grandchild, Allizay; and a brother, Tel, of Florida.

A private family service was held at Messenger Fountain Hills Mortuary on Nov. 12.

Matt DeClercq

Matthew N. DeClercq, 46, of Fountain Hills died Nov. 13 of pancreatic cancer. As a Rural/Metro firefighter, Mr. DeClercq worked in Rio Verde, Fountain Hills and most recently in Scottsdale.

Mr. DeClercq was born in San Diego, Calif. He is survived by his wife, Lori, two daughters Nicolle DeClercq and Dori Baudhuin of Phoenix, one granddaughter, Samantha Baudhuin and two stepchildren, Chris and Lindsey Brendemuhl of Fountain Hills.

He is also survived by his mother, Rae DeClercq of Vista, Calif.; three sisters, Barbara DeClercq of San Diego, Joy Hubbard of Fountain Hills and Kitti Freitag of Escondido, Calif.; and two brothers, Henri DeClercq of San Diego and Len DeClercq of Evanston, Wyoming.

Mr. DeClercq lived a full life, according to family. He graduated from Santana High School in Santee, Calif. in 1971 where he set school and state records in track and cross-country. He enlisted in the Navy during the Vietnam War and he lived and worked for a time in San Diego upon receiving an honorable discharge.

Mr. DeClercq moved his family to Wyoming where he became involved with the Riverton Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter.

Scuba diving, camping and fishing were among his favorite activities. When not on duty as a firefighter Mr. DeClercq offered his services as a handyman around Fountain Hills.

On May 1, 1999 Mr. DeClercq received the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Michael J. McGivney Award for Public Safety and Outstanding Community Service. He has touched many lives with his love and humanitarianism.

Visitation for Matt DeClercq will be held Wednesday, Nov. 17, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 6914 E. Bella Vista Drive, Cave Creek.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m. at Scottsdale Bible Chapel, 79th Street and Shea Blvd., Scottsdale.

Mat Schneider

Mat Schneider of Fountain Hills died on Nov. 11, 1999 at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea. He was 49.

Mr. Schneider was born on Feb. 5, 1950 in San Rafael, Calif. and was employed as a restaurant owner.

He is survived by his wife, Janine of Fountain Hills; a son, Jesse, also of Fountain Hills; and a daughter, Ceia of Homer, Alaska.

A memorial service for Mr. Schneider will be held this Saturday, Nov. 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 13770 N. Fountain Hills Boulevard.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Liver Foundation, 998 Pompton Avenue in Cedar Grove, N.J., 07009.
