Apolinar (Paul) J. ( Poli) Nunez, Sr. died May 22 at Thunderbird Hospice in Glendale. Poli was born in Mexticacan, Jalisco, Mexico in 1915. At 7, Poli, his mother and older brother immigrated to the United States where his father had settled in Flagstaff. In 1933, he worked for the Arizona Lumber and Timber Co. and then the Saginaw and Manistee Lumber Co. He took a break from the lumber industry to join the construction industry. He returned to the lumber industry to work for Southwest Forest Industries until retiring in 1972. He and his wife of 63 years, Porfiria, stayed in Flagstaff until 1976, when they moved to Glendale to be close to their two sons and daughter.
He is survived by his wife, Porfiria; sons Paul Jr. of Surprise and Richard of Peoria; brother, Tony of Flagstaff; two sisters-in-law; along with grandchildren, cousins, nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Christina; sisters Esordra and Ines; and brothers Adencio, Antonio, Max and Joe.
Memorial Mass was held May 28 at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Glendale.

Anthony Louis Proietto, 59, of Phoenix and Flagstaff died June 4. He was born in Chicago, Ill. and was retired from the engineering profession.
He is survived by his mother, Catherine, wife, Jeannette, daughters, Michelle and Mandy, and sisters, Jacqueline and Dorothy.

Anthony Louis Proietto, 59, of Phoenix and Flagstaff died June 4. He was born in Chicago, Ill. and was retired from the engineering profession.

Ernest W. Chilson

Ernest Warren Chilson, 86, died at his home in Flagstaff on June 2, 2002.
Mr. Chilson was born in 1915 and was raised in Payson. He graduated from Winslow High School and Phoenix College. He was married to Evelyn Back from Camp Verde and together they managed the Bar T Bar Ranch, located in the Tonto Basin, on the Mogollon Rim near Long Valley, and later, near Winslow. A partner in the ranch, he served as its manager from 1942 until his retirement. He was also president of Meteor Crater Enterprises, Inc. from 1955-1993.
Mr. Chilson loved the ranching business and served the industry as president of the Arizona Cattle Growers' Association and the Northern Arizona Cattlemen's Association. He was a founding member of the Arizona Cattle Industry Research and Education Foundation.
He was the American Society of Range Management's "Range Management Man of the Year" in 1998. He was a charter member of the Arizona 4-H Youth Foundation and was awarded the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Service "Extensionist of the Year" award.
Mr. Chilson was a charter member of both the Arizona Oil and Gas Conservation Commission and the Arizona Water Resources Committee. He also served on the Arizona Power Authority.
Mr. Chilson was recently recognized by the Elks Lodge in Flagstaff as having the most years of membership, and had been a member of the Flagstaff Sheriff's Posse since 1940.
Survivors include his only daughter, Judy Prosser; son-in-law Robert; and twin grandsons, Spencer and Warren Prosser.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2002, at the Federated Community Church, 400 W. Aspen Ave.

Richard Lorenzo Sanchez, 36, died Monday, June 3, 2002, in Winslow.
Mr. Sanchez was born Jan. 17, 1966, in Winslow and worked as a self-employed mechanic. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his nieces and nephews.
Survivors include his father and mother, Blas and Maryellen Sanchez, of Winslow; brothers Patrick Herrera, Blas Sanchez Jr. and Raymond Sanchez, all of Winslow; sister Elizabeth Estrada of Winslow; nine aunts and six uncles, along with numerous nephews and nieces.
Holy Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at Madre de Dios Catholic Church and Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday.

Phillip Ben Tsosie, 56, died June 1, 2002, in Leupp.
Mr. Tsosie was born on April 21, 1945, in Castle Butte. He was a rancher and a mechanic in Birdsprings and Leupp most of his life.
Mr. Tsosie is survived by his daughters Phillis Sam, Priscilla Tsosie and Marilyn Tsosie, all of Salt Lake City; daughters Trina Tsosie, Chryelle Tsosie and Estelle Tsosie, all of Leupp; and Jamie Cody of Chandler; sons Phillip Tsosie, Jr. of Washington, Patrick Tsosie of Salt Lake City, and stepson Themes Cody of Phoenix; brother Max Chase of Standinghouse; brother Nelson Chase of Dilkon, sisters Jane Taha and Maxine Nez of Dilkon and Anne Yazzie of Winslow.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 6, 2002, at the Newlife Fellowship Church, Castle Butte, at 10 a.m. A viewing will be held prior to the service at the church from 9 to 10 a.m. Pastor Raymond Long will be officiating. Interment will be held in the family plot.

Former Flagstaff resident Victor Sarytchoff Jr., 44, of Payson, died Monday, July 29, 2002, in a traffic accident on Highway 87 in Clints Well.
Mr. Sarytchoff is survived by his wife, Lisa, of Payson; sons James, Alexander and Shawn Sarytchoff, all of Payson; mother Adele Sarytchoff of Mesa; and a grandchild.
A private family service was held at Flagstaff Mortuary.
Roy Boyes

Roy Boyes, 90, died Friday, July 26, 2002, in Phoenix. He was born Dec. 16, 1911, in Canada.
Boyes was a logger who lived in Flagstaff, Sedona and Williams before moving to Phoenix. He enjoyed tending his rose garden at his home in Phoenix.
He is survived by his sons, Kim Boyes of Flagstaff and Bucky Boyes of Kingman; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Greenlawn Memorial cemetery in Phoenix.
Robert Boone

Robert "Bob" Boone, 53, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002.
He was born Jan. 17, 1949, in Macon, Miss. He worked for Peabody Coal for 25 years and had recently retired. He enjoyed playing bass guitar in the '50s-'60 rock 'n' roll band Flashback, restoring Pontiac GTOs, and spending time with his children.
Survivors include his wife, Carol, of Flagstaff; sons Lindsay of Phoenix and David of Flagstaff; mother Glessie; sister Judy; and brother Jim, all of Macon, Miss.
He was preceded in death by his father Don; and brother Charlie.
Private services for family members will be held at Norvel Owens Mortuary on Friday. A celebration of Mr. Boone's life will be held for friends at their home, Friday from 4 to 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mr. Boone to Northland Hospice, P.O. Box 997, Flagstaff, AZ 86002. Arrangements are under the direction of Norvel Owens Morturary.

Michael Ray Rusnak, 64, of Winslow died Saturday. He was born June 9, 1938, in Gallup, N.M. and graduated from Gallup High School in 1956.
Rusnak moved to Winslow in 1980 and owned and operated Kachina Auto Wrecking in Holbrook, Winslow, Page and Snowflake for many years. He was known as "good-hearted Mike" to all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene; sons Michael Jr. and wife Karen, Steve and wife Jacki, Clinton Morgan and wife, Mary, and Clayton Morgan; his mother, Josephine Nies of Payson; sister Dorothy Wagner of Payson; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Calvary Chapel, Second Street and Campbell in Winslow. Viewing will be held from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Interment in Desert View cemetery will follow the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations be made to Northland Hospice, P.O. Box 997, Flagstaff, AZ 86002.

Thelma L. “Patsy” Butler, 88, of Litchfield Park died June 22, 2013, at her home.
Mrs. Butler was born Jan. 31, 1925, in Los Angeles to Bishop and Marion Patterson.
She was raised in Buckeye, where she graduated from Buckeye Union High School.

Raymond R. Cuellar, 76, of Youngtown and formerly of Tolleson died June 26, 2013.
Mr. Cuellar was born Dec. 13, 1936, in San Bernardino, Calif., to Gregorio and Jessie.
He is survived by four brothers, Don, Danny, Florence and Sonny; and three sisters, Dora, Juanita and Janet.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, with funeral services at 11 a.m. at Advantage Crystal Rose Chapel, 9155 W. Van Buren St. in Tolleson. Interment will follow at West Resthaven Park cemetery, 6450 W. Northern Ave. in Glendale.

Charles Brooks Grierson II, 85, of Avondale died June 21, 2013, in Goodyear.
Billy Lynn Ball
Billy Lynn Ball, 79, of Goodyear died June 22, 2013.
Mr. Ball was born May 29, 1934, at home in Garrad County, Ky., to Charles and Virginia Ball.
He served in the Marine Corps and graduated from the University of Kentucky with a civil engineering degree, then moved to California where he lived until 1991 when he moved to Goodyear.
He is survived by his second wife, Lana Lee Ball of Temecula, Calif.; one daughter, Teresa Ball; one son, Lafe Ball; one stepdaughter, Kim Purdue; two stepsons, Brian Baker and Eric Baker; and 11 grandchildren.
A memorial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at his house, 11297 S. Santa Fe Lane in Goodyear. Services will be July 26 at Fort Rosecrans National cemetery in Point Loma, Calif.

Juanita Pearl Friesner
Juanita Pearl Friesner, 69, of Goodyear died June 16, 2013.
Mrs. Friesner was born Jan. 29, 1944, to Ernest and Helena Hopper.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 40. She retired from K-Mart after 28 years of employment.
She was preceded in death by one son, Charles.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Paul Friesner; two daughters, Cynthia and Summer; one son, Douglas; her mother, Helena Brown; two sisters, Etta Hatfield and Paula Devorak; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service was held June 22 at Sanctuary Community Church.
