Kent H. Slocum
Kent H. Slocum, 63, of Apache Junction passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2002. Mr. Slocum was born in Owasso, Michigan, on February 17, 1939 and had 25 years of service with Owasso Fire Department as a firefighter and EMT. He was a very active union steward and also on the Board of Review for the department.
Mr. Slocum became an accomplished builder in home construction and repair work which he used in all 3 of his homes in Owasso. He loved to travel and visited almost all the states in the union.
After retiring, Mr. Slocum and his wife, Mary Anne, moved to and resided in Apache Junction for the past 12 years. He served as Clerk on Apache Junction Fire Board for 8 years and served on the Board of Adjustments for 6 years.
Mr. Slocum has always been involved in volunteer work in Apache Junction and Owosso, Mich. He was ready with a helping hand for anyone who was in need.
Mr. Slocum is survived by his wife Mary Ann, daughter Robin Parker, sons Michael A. Chapko, Lynn, Kevin, and Jeffrey Slocum, father Harold Slocum, sisters Sue Starr and Marguerite Voltenburg and 9 grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled all arrangements.
