John A. Ahmann, 69, a long time resident of Apache Junction, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 16, 2002. Mr. Ahmann was a graduate of Northwestern University in Chicago, IL, served in the military, taught school a short while before working for Kennecott Copper Co. in Kearny, AZ. Mr. Ahmann is survived by his wife Alicia, sister Mary Hallett, stepchildren and step-grandchildren. Mr. Ahmann was laid to rest in Chicago, IL.
Mary H. Stewart
Mary H. Stewart, 84, of Apache Junction, passed away Friday, July 19, 2002. Mrs. Stewart, a retired supervisor of Motorola, devoted her time to her beloved desert home on North Ironwood and worked part time at a local nursery. She volunteered her services at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum for many years and later became afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease.
Mrs. Stewart is survived by her son Victor "Scott" Hoskins of Apache Junction, sister Mrs. F. W. Robinson (Joan) of Boise, Idaho, several grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Cremation by Arizona After Care. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Cheryl Lee Sample, 56, of Apache Junction, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2002. Mrs. Sample, a horse trainer, born in St. James, Minnesota, is survived by her husband Wayne Sample, daughters Michelle Mullin and Stacey Aranda, sons Bradley Senf, Scott Senf and Jake Sample, sisters Pam Sawatzky and Linda Robideaux and 15 grandchildren. Mr. Metcalf, a WWII Veteran and BF Goodrich tire builder, born in Bismark, North Dakota, is survived by his wife Stephie Metcalf, son Jim Metcalf, six stepchildren, 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Frederick Miller Campbell
SFC, Frederick Miller Campbell, U.S. Army retired passed away May 27, 2003, in Mesa Arizona. He was 66 years of age. Mr. Campbell was a military policeman and a training instructor with 23 years of military service to our country. He was a Korean and Viet Nam War Veteran. Mr. Campbell was an Apache Junction resident for the past nine years. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Jean of Apache Junction, 4 children, Amanda Sword of Apache Junction, Sandra Hernandez and husband Mike of Apache Junction, Frederick and his wife Deborah of Corry, PA, and Marvin and his wife Diann of Corry, PA., 4 sisters: JoAnne Terwilliger of Titusville, PA., Martha Gee and her husband Lee of Wattsburg, PA., Shirlee Nichlos of Corry, PA., and Joyce Johnson of Erie, PA., 1 brother, Ted Campbell of Corry, PA., Also 10 Grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Saturday, May 31, 2003 at the Friendship Community Church in Phoenix. There will also be a service on June 6 at 12:30 p.m. at the National Memorial cemetery of Arizona, Friday, located at 23029 N Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Arizona. Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.
Robert Schmidt
Robert Schmidt, 49, died May 27, 2003, at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital after a battle with cancer. He was born October 22, 1953 in Kansas City, Kansas to Soren Schmidt and Ona Ferguson.
Robert served in the Air Force in Vietnam. He received an associate of arts degree in fire science and a bachelor of arts degree in public administration. He attended the National Fire Academy and received the title of "Executive Fire Officer". Robert was the fire chief for the Ellensburg Fire Department.
Robert married Carol Baker in July 2002 in Livingston, Montana. He was a member of fire departments in Kansas, California, Arizona, Montana and Washington and had a term as head of the Montana State Fire Chiefs Association. His hobbies included music and motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Rachel; sons, Soren and Joel; sisters, Asta and Rebecca Anderson; brothers, George Hagan and David Schmidt all of Kansas City, Kansas.
Robert was precede in death by his brother Steve Schmidt, and sister, Sandra Nichols.
Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Ellensburg Fire Department Life Support Fund.

He was a businessman who spent his retirement in Arizona.
He is survived by his wife Dahiben D. Patel, sons Arvind (Hansa), J.D. (Naina) and Ashok (Urmila), grandson Narendra (Aku) grand daughter Varsha (Hitesh) grandchildren Shilpa, Tanvi and Neil; great grandchildren Ashay, Eshaan and Trusha. Services for Mr. Patel were held August 22 at Green Acres Chapel of Light in Scottsdale.

Doris Irene Payne, 81, of Apache Junction, passed away August 8, 2000. Mrs. Payne, a homemaker, was born in Lamar, Nebraska.
