Howard H. Davis

Howard H. Davis died Monday Aug. 30, 1999 in Kingman. He was 78.

Mr. Davis was born April 13, 1921 in White Plains, N.Y.

He moved to Kingman earlier this year from Tujunga, Calif. He worked as a bus driver for Manhattan Transit in New York City for 24 years. He was a member of Glendale (Calif.) First Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the Marine Corps League in Mississippi.

Mr. Davis is survived by: two daughters, Lynne Hill of Kingman, and Mary A. Davis of Tujunga, Calif.; one brother, Charles Davis of Ft. Collins, Colo.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: one sister, Isabelle Marcinkus, in 1958.

Services will be private. Cremation will be handled by Sutton Crematory.

Billy Zahariades

Billy Zahariades died Sunday Nov. 28, 1999, in Kingman. He was 77.

Mr. Zahariades was born Sept. 11, 1922, in Oklahoma. He moved to Kingman from California 13 years ago.

The retired Mr. Zahariades served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.

Mr. Zahariades is survived by: daughter Sotera Brakesman of Newport Beach, Calif.; two sons, Nico Zahariades of Palm Desert, Calif., and Jim Raines of Farmington, N.M.; and three grandsons.

No services are scheduled.

Alma Faye Yell

Alma Faye Yell died Monday Nov. 29, 1999, in Kingman. She was 85.

Mrs. Yell was born on Dec. 4, 1913, in Crowder, Okla.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Yell is survived by: son Doyle Yell of Kingman; sister Louise Payne of Lompoc, Calif.; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday December 1, 1999, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday December 2, 1999, at the same location. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery.

Ima Lou (Baker) Harkins

Ima Lou (Baker) Harkins, a Kingman resident, died Saturday Nov. 27, 1999, in Las Vegas, Nev. She was 78.

Mrs. Harkins was born on Sept. 30, 1921, in Hayburl, Okla.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Harkins is survived by: two daughters, Georgetta Conley of Las Vegas, Nev., and Brenda Shire of Fresno, Calif.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George D. Harkins.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Wednesday Dec. 1, 1999, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999.

Frances Johnson

Frances Johnson died Wednesday Nov. 24, 1999 in Kingman. She was 89.

Mrs. Johnson was born Sept. 15, 1910 in Lake Valley, N.M. She was a homemaker, and former co-owner of Fred's Grill.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by: one son, Larry Johnson of Lawrenceville, Ga.; three daughters, Frieda Reed of Kingman, Peggy Prevatte of Lakeview, N.C. and Debra Johnson of Mesa; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Johnson in 1979.

Private family services for Mrs. Johnson were planned Saturday Nov. 27, 1999 by Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Burial was to be held at Bill Williams Cemetery in Williams.

Billy Sue Glover

Billy Sue Glover died Thursday Nov. 25, 1999 in Kingman. He was 55.

Mrs. Glover was born Jan. 3, 1944 in Kingman. She worked as a bartender at Emma's Place, and was a member of the auxiliary in the Eagles Lodge.

Mrs. Glover is survived by: her father, E.L. Buzzy Blair; three sons, Robert Patrick Kirn of Phoenix, Raymond Scott Kirn of Minneapolis, Minn., and Richard Eric Kirn of Phoenix; one brother, Harold Ed Blair of Kingman; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Billie C. Dollarhide Blair.

Visitation for Mrs. Glover, who is being cremated, will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday Nov. 29, 1999 at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Pastor Mark Crotinger will conduct a service at 1 p.m.

The family has requested any donations be made to the Kidney Foundation.

Albert F. Bassford

Albert F. Bassford died Saturday Nov. 29, 1999, in Kingman. He was 76.

Mr. Bassford was born on Sept. 24, 1923 in Bolton on Durn, England.

He moved to Kingman from Parker seven months ago. Mr. Bassford was a retired fireman and a member of the Elks Lodge. He served in the Army.

Mr. Bassford is survived by: two daughters, Lynne Adams of Brea, Calif., and Gayle Valenzuela of Kingman; son Dennis Bassford of Kingman; two granddaughters; three great-grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.

No services will be held.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Martin "Leo" Oberholtzer

Martin "Leo" Oberholtzer died Monday Nov. 22, 1999, in Kingman. He was 67.

Mr. Oberholtzer was born in Kenosha, Wisc.

He worked as an electrician on Davis Dam in Bullhead City.

Mr. Oberholtzer is survived by: his wife of 49 years, Irene; four sons, Marty, Bradley, Scott and Kevin; four daughters, Christine Keisling, Valerie LeClair, Cindy Finch and Toni Simon; sister Helen of Wisconsin; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday Nov. 26, 1999, at Sutton Funeral Home.

Read Clark Earl

Read Clark Earl of Kingman died Saturday Nov. 13, 1999, in Mesa. He was 64.

Mr. Earl was born Sept. 22, 1935, in Tawas City, Mich.

He was self employed in the rental unit business.

Mr. Earl is survived by: two sons, Kevin R. Earl of Apache Junction and Brian D. Earl of Kingman; three daughters, Charlene M. Elsasser of Silver Reef, Utah, Janice E. Pellegrin of Riverside, Calif., and Cindy L. Earl of Apache Junction; two brothers, Roger D. Earl and Clare Earl, both of Tawas City, Mich.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation and funeral services were held on Thursday Nov. 18, 1999 at Desert View Funeral Chapel.

Cremation was handled by Sutton Crematory.

Joseph C. Roy

Joseph C. Roy died Saturday Nov. 20, 1999, in Kingman. He was 90.

Mr. Roy was born Feb. 9, 1909 in Prescott to Tom and Stella Roy.

The Roys came to Kingman in 1920 and later moved to a farm near Wikieup. In 1929 Mr. Roy met and married Bessie Boyett.

The couple returned to Kingman where they lived for most of their married lives. Mr. Roy worked for 21 years as a school bus driver and maintenance supervisor with Kingman High School until his retirement in 1974. The Roys moved to Apache Junction and then returned to Kingman in 1997.

Mr. Roy is survived by his wife of 70 years, Bessie; two daughters, Lorna Eaton and Sue Hallett, both of Kingman; two sons, Joseph M. Roy and Daniel Roy, both of Kingman; brother Walter Roy of Cottonwood; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sister Ethel McCraley.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday Nov. 29, 1999 at Praise Chapel, 419 Harrison. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery.

Forrest D. Cornelius

Forrest D. Cornelius died Monday Nov. 15, 1999 in Kingman. He was 66.

Mr. Cornelius was born on March 5, 1933 in Green Bay, Wis. He came to Kingman 10 years ago from Los Angeles, Calif. He was retired. Mr. Cornelius served in the Korean War.

Mr. Cornelius is survived by: his wife Mary; four sons, Darrel of Kingman, Darren of California; Dwayne, and Darwin of Wisconsin; three sisters; two brothers; and one grandson.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday Nov. 22, 1999 at Sutton Funeral Home.

Clyde Maddox

Clyde Maddox died Monday Nov. 15, 1999 in Kingman. He was 87.

Mr. Maddox was born on Feb. 14, 1912 in Port, Okla.

A widower, Mr. Maddox retired in 1972 from a 20 year career as a petroleum distributor. He was a Baptist deacon at churches in Tucson, Cornville and Kingman. He was an early member of Kingman First Southern Baptist Church. at the time of his death he was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church.

Mr. Maddox is survived by: son J. Lynn Maddox of Beauford, S.C.; two sisters, Margaret Flaws and Evelyn Kinkade, both of Huntington Beach, Calif.; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter Gayle Hall Densmore.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday Nov. 18,1999 at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday Nov. 19, 1999 at Hilltop Southern Baptist Church, 605 Oak St. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery.

Read Clark Earl

Read Clark Earl, a Kingman resident, died Saturday Nov. 13, 1999 in Mesa. He was 64.

Mr. Earl was born Sept. 22, 1935 in Tawas City, Mich.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday Nov. 18, 1999 at Desert View Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation hours. Cremation will be handled by Sutton Crematory.

John J. Wright

John J. Wright died Saturday Nov. 13, 1999 in Kingman. He was 84.

A native of Kingman, Mr. Wright served in the U.S. Navy. He worked and lived in Kingman most of his life, most recently as a driver's license examiner for the Motor Vehicle Department of Arizona. After his retirement he worked as a lapidary instructor at Mohave Community College.

Mr. Wright is survived by: two sons, Michael of Kingman and David of Chandler; three grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son John Robert and wife Dorothy.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday Nov. 20, 1999 at Kingman Missionary Alliance Church, 4435 North Shadow Road.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kingman Regional Medical Center Foundation Tree of Life or Wall of Bricks.

Gordon W. Fleck

Gordon W. Fleck, a Kingman resident, died Saturday Nov. 13, 1999. He was 70.

Mr. Fleck was born on July 11, 1929 in Alliance, Neb.

He was retired from a career at ABF Trucking and the Mohave County Probation Department. He served in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Fleck is survived by: his wife of 28 years, Virginia A. Fleck; three sons, Rick, Bill and Mark; three daughters, Glenda, Dana and Cheryl. He was preceded in death by son Geoffrey.

A memorial celebration followed by an open house will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday Nov. 17 at 3762 Packard Ave.

Betty Lou Schooley

Betty Lou Schooley died Wednesday Nov. 10, 1999 in Kingman. She was 67.

Mrs. Schooley was born on Dec. 20, 1931 in Dayton, Ohio.

She was a homemaker, a member of Kingman Missionary Alliance and active in a doll collecting club.

Mrs. Schooley is survived by: husband George E. Schooley of Kingman; daughter Terrie Lynne Cottrill of Melbourne, Fla.; five sons, Jerry Schooley of Cleveland, Tenn., Gary Schooley of Kingman, Barry Schooley of Santa Ana, Calif., Kerry Schooley of Santa Ana Calif., and Perry Schooley of Kingman; sister Catherine McCreary of Melbourne, Fla.; two brothers, Ted Riley of Melbourne, Fla., and Robert Riley of Eaton, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son Larry Schooley.

Visitation will be private. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday Nov. 15, 1999 at Mountain View Cemetery.
