Beavers
Longtime Globe resident Eleanor Thomas Beavers, 81, of Tempe died Oct. 12, 2002 in Globe. She was born in Phoenix and moved with her family, at an early age, to the Globe-Miami area where she attended school and married. After her husband's retirement in the late 1970s, they moved to Tempe.
She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Tempe.
Survivors include one son, James Beavers of Scottsdale; one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Duane Howard of Morenci; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at Tempe Mortuary, 405 E. Southern Avenue, Tempe. Funeral service is scheduled at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Tempe Mortuary. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 2300 W. Van Buren in Phoenix.
Memorial contributions are suggested in her name to the charity of the giver's choice.
Drake
Gary Buzz Drake, 41, of Phoenix died Feb. 4, 2003 at Phoenix Baptist Hospital. He was born in Chicago, Ill., and had lived in Arizona 39 years. He worked for the State of Arizona as a clerk in the personnel department.
Survivors include his parents, Gary and Margo Drake of Globe; and one sister, Dawn L. Winter of Peoria.
A memorial service was conducted Feb. 8 at First Presbyterian Church in Globe. Lamont Mortuary of Globe assisted the family.

Duncan
Marie V. Duncan, 60, of Peridot died April 3, 2003 at San Carlos Hospital. She was born in Jeddito and was a lifelong Arizona resident.
She was a bookkeeper for San Carlos Apache Tribe.
Mrs. Duncan is survived by her husband, Eugene Duncan of Peridot; two sons, Lawrence Duncan of Payson and Bryant E. Duncan Sr. of San Carlos; one daughter, Petrita Duncan of Chandler; one brother, Larry Archie of Beshbito; six sisters, Mary Boone of Flagstaff, Emma Williams and Peggy Nelson of Beshbito, Pauline Jensen of Chandler, Rosey Allen of Navajo, and Lucinda Manygoats of Dellon; and two grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 7 at St. Charles Catholic Church in San Carlos. Interment was in Lower Peridot Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Lamont Mortuary of Globe.
Jackson
Philip C. Jackson, 79, of Globe died June 17, 2003 at Cobre Valley Community Hospital losing his battle with cancer. He was born in Los Angeles, Calif., and had lived in Arizona 75 years.
He was a retired insurance adjuster and owned Jackson Claims Service in Yuma for 30 years. He was also an investigator for the law firm Westover, Choules and Shadle in Yuma and more recently for Thompson, Montgomery and DeRose in Globe.
He was a Perpetual Master Mason and was named the 1995 Mason of the Year by White Mountain Lodge No. 3 of Globe; a 45-year member of Rotary International and received the Rotary Red Rose Citation for Outstanding Service; past president and life member of Affiliated Adjusters of Western United States; life member of National Association of Insurance Adjusters, Arizona Insurance Claims Association, and Blue Goose International; and served on the Globe Library Board. He was a long-time Rotarian.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Jackson of Globe; two sons and daughters-in-law, Phil and Christine Jackson of Troy, Mich., and Neal and Sara Jackson of Lakeside; one brother, Dan Jackson of Vista, Calif.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service was conducted June 20 at Lamont Mortuary Chapel.

Carpenter
Tillie Carpenter, 80, died June 19, 2001 at her home in Globe. She was born in Sour Lake, Texas, and moved to Arizona 55 years ago from Santa Monica, Calif. She was a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Harold "Fred" and Sherry Carpenter of Lemon Grove, Calif.; one sister, Peggy Crum of Loman, Minn.; a sister-in-law, Virginia Carpenter of Globe; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for Mrs. Carpenter were conducted June 23 at Pinal Cemetery
in Central Heights. Arrangements were under the direction of Miles-Damron Funeral Home.
Bracy
Ronald Lee Bracy, 65, of Payson died Aug. 7, 2001 at Payson Regional Hospital. He was born in Lawson, Colo., and had lived in Arizona five years moving here from California. He was a Navy veteran and worked as a truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Lucie Miller Bracy of Payson; two daughters and one son-in-law, Mary Busler of California and Christine and Dave Giles of Farmington, N.M.; three sons, Daniel Bracy of Texas, and Albert Bracy and Robert Bracy of California; three sisters, Helen Brown and Margaret Waddell of Globe, and Betty Matney of Tucson; six brothers, J.D. Bracy of Tempe, Bobby Bracy of Las Vegas, Nev., Roy Bracy of Tucson, Earl Bracy of Oregon, Bill Bracy of Safford, and Charles "Danny" Bracy of Globe; and 11 grandchildren.
Graveside services for Mr. Bracy were conducted Aug. 11 at the Resthaven Section of Pinal Cemetery. Lamont Mortuary of Globe handled arrangements.
Spilsbury
Funeral services for former Northern Arizona University football coach Max Spilsbury, 77, who died Nov. 21, 2002, were held Nov. 27 in Colonia Juarez, Chihuahua Mexico.
He coached at NAU from 1956 to 1964 and compiled a record of 58-25-5 and secured the best NAU winning record which still stands. He was inducted into the NAU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1983. One of his more notable achievements was the team's appearance in the first nationally televised bowl game in 1958. NAU was the first Arizona college allowed to play in a bowl game by the College Board of Regeants. Local young men who played on that team were Carlos Salas, Alvin Rex and Bob Gradillas. That team has also been inducted into the NAU Football Hall of Fame. Spilsbury amassed five straight Frontier Conference titles from 1956 to 1960.
Hunsaker
Golden G. "Bud" Hunsaker, 74, of Sun City died March 31, 2002. He was born in Globe and owned several businesses, served as a city councilman and one term as mayor. He was a Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Flora Mae of Sun City; one daughter, Susan Caywood of Phoenix; one son, Glenn Hunsaker of Lake Havasu City; one sister, Dolores Hessner of Modesto, Calif.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was conducted April 4 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Sun City Ward. Burial was April 8 at National Memorial Cemetery
in Phoenix.

Hernandez
Josephine "Ma Joie" B. Hernandez, 91, of Globe died June 3, 2002 at Heritage Health Care Center. She was born in Winkelman and was a lifelong Arizona resident.
She was a foster care provider for 27 years, had worked at Inspiration smelter during World War II, and was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church.
Mrs. Hernandez is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Theodore Hernandez and Danny and Kim Smith of Globe; three daughters and sons-in-law, Billie and Alfred Escobedo, Louise "Queena" and Chele Cienfuegos, and Barbara and Johnny Andrade of Globe; one brother, Louie Bracamonte of Tucson; one sister, Becky Horta of Globe; 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous foster children.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 8 at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Interment was in Globe Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Lamont Mortuary.
Baroldy
Frank Richard Baroldy, 63, of Globe died Aug. 7, 2002 in Lacey, Wash. He was born in Miami and was a lifelong area resident.
He was an Air Force veteran, retired police chief for Globe Police Department, immediate Past Commander of American Legion Henry Berry Post 4, and a member of Pinal Mountain Elks.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Marie Baroldy of Globe; four sons, Frank Baroldy and Brian Baroldy of Globe, Chris Baroldy of Lacey, Wash., and Mark Baroldy of Bullhead City; three sisters, Corrine Baroldy of Miami, Lillian Valdivia of El Paso, Texas, and Rosemary Trujillo of Pico Rivera, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, Aug. 14) at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Miami. Interment will be private. Lamont Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Lockard
David Dawes Lockard, 69, of Globe died Oct. 9, 2002 in Globe. He was born in Goodland, Kans., and had lived in Arizona 17 years. He was a radio technician for the U.S. Army.
Mr. Lockard is survived by two sisters, Naomi Smith of Globe and Donna Sciascia of Brunswick, Maine.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Globe. Arrangements are under the direction of Lamont Mortuary.
Cothrun
Melissa D. Cothrun, 70, of San Carlos died Nov. 26, 2002 at Mesa General Hospital in Mesa. She was a homemaker who was born in San Carlos.
She is survived by one sister, Blanche Boni of Phoenix.
Funeral service for Mrs. Cothrun will be at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday, Dec. 4) at World Evangelist Revival Center in San Carlos. Interment will follow in San Carlos Cemetery. Lamont Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Barela
Cynthia Thomas Barela, 45, of Globe died Feb. 8, 2003 in Globe. She was born in Warren, Ohio and had lived in Arizona 42 years. She was an apartment manager.
Survivors include her parents, John W. and Doris A. Thomas of Globe; and two brothers, John D. Thomas of Globe and Michael C. Thomas of Phoenix.
Private memorial services were under the direction of Lamont Mortuary.
Maldonado
Ruby Maldonado, 52, died June 20, 2003 at her home in Superior. She was born in Superior and worked as a librarian. She also worked for Pinal County Deputy Sheriff's department.
Survivors include her husband, Randolph Maldonado of Superior; one son, Matthew Maldonado of Superior; two daughters, Jessica Maldonado and Felicia Maldonado of Superior; two brothers, Ruben Duarte of Globe and Fred Duarte; and four sisters, Martha Guzman and Anita Groves of Superior, and Dolores Groves and Andrea Kipp.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at 9 a.m. today (Wednesday, June 25) at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Superior. Interment will follow at Superior Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Miles of Miami.

Warren
George Arthur "Art" Warren, 84, died June 19, 2001 in an El Paso, Texas, hospital. He was a member of First Baptist Church in El Paso.
Survivors include one brother, Malcolm Warren of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; three sisters, Ileene Kehn of Globe, Elsie Warren of Mt. Pleasant, and Inez Smith of Longview, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Cleo Warren of Orange, Calif.

Hundley
Tom Hundley, 65, of Portsmouth, Va., died Aug. 6, 2001. He was born in Phoenix and moved with his family to Miami in 1946 when his step-father, Myles Hodson Sr. went to work for Miami Copper.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War and retired from the Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer after 22 years of military service. He was currently employed in civil service as supervisor of ship building at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Virginia. He was a member of Cottage Place United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Pastor Lynne Locke Hundley; two children, Cassandra Hundley of San Diego, Calif., and Tom Hundley Jr. of Cardiff, Calif.; one sister, Rita Bush of Salt Lake City, Utah; two brothers, Myles Hodson of Roosevelt and Sam Hodson of Taylor; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Aug. 10 at Cottage Place United Methodist Church in Portsmouth. Following the service, his ashes were to be scattered at sea. Friends may sign the on-line guest register for Mr. Hundley at www.cremate.org.
Thomas
Rebecca P. Thomas, 73, of Sacaton died Dec. 12, 2002 in Mesa. She was born in San Carlos and was a lifelong resident of Arizona.
Survivors include one son, Spencer D. Thomas; two daughters, Gina Thomas-Enos and Edith Thomas; her companion, Russell Enos; one brother, Ray Patten; and four grandchildren.
Funeral service was conducted Dec. 21 at Cottonwood Lane Presbyterian Church in Casa Grande. Interment was in North Blackwater Cemetery.
Repnak
Beverly Repnak, 70, of Polson, Mont., died March 11, 2002. She was born in Grand Forks, N.D., and reared in Polson.
She and her husband, Joe, moved to the Globe-Miami area where he worked in the copper mines. After his retirement in 1989, they returned to Polson.
Survivors include three daughters, Dena Kelly and Christine Mantolete of Arizona, and Zelda Repnak of Polson; her mother, Zelda Plew of Polson; 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Lake County Hospice. Arrangements were under the direction of Grogan Funeral Home and Crematory of Polson.
Hernandez
Gabriel Hernandez, 11, of Peridot died Oct. 10, 2002 at Phoenix Children's Hospital. He was born in Phoenix and was a student at Rice Junior High School.
He is survived by his grandmother, Melinda Long of San Carlos.
Funeral service was conducted Oct. 15 at Rice School Auditorium in San Carlos. Interment followed in San Carlos Cemetery. Lamont Mortuary handled arrangements.
North
Vernon E. North, 55, died Nov. 25, 2002 at his home in Sierra Vista. He was born in Globe and was an avid sportsman.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa; one son, Carl North of Phoenix; one daughter and son-in-law, Lavern and Colby Archer of Phoenix; three brothers, Elton Harris of Bandon, Ore., Wayne Comer of Scottsdale, and Dwayne Comer of Phoenix; and one sister, Dorothy Streety of New River.
A memorial service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday, Dec. 4) at Jensen's Sierra Vista Mortuary in Sierra Vista.

MacDonald
Norma D. MacDonald, 81, of Missoula, Mont., died Feb. 7, 2002 at Village Health Care Center. She was born in North Vancouver, British Columbia.
After her marriage to Duncan MacDonald, they made their home in Anaconda, Mont., for nearly 24 years then spent the next 15 years in the Globe-Miami area where Duncan was employed as director of human resources at Inspiration Consolidated Copper Company. After his retirement, they moved to Sequim, Wash., and remained there until 1998 when they moved to Missoula.
Organizations with which she was affiliated included Eastern Star, Girl Scouts, hospital auxiliary, bridge groups, garden club, and the Presbyterian women's group.
Survivors include her husband, Duncan MacDonald of Missoula; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joy and George Lake of Missoula and Pam and Stanley Stohr of Battleground, Wash.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.
A memorial service for Mrs. MacDonald was conducted Feb. 16 at the First Presbyterian Church in Anaconda. Arrangements were under the direction of Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory.
