Josefina "Josie" Laborin Singley
Josefina "Josie" Laborin Singley, lifelong Douglas resident, passed away peacefully in her home on February 11, 2004.
She was born March 22, 1948 in Douglas, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Singley, father and mother, Benito and Lupita Laborin.
Surviving is her daughter and granddaughter, Joedith and Haylee Singley, Stepson, Steven (Dorothy) Singley, Stepdaughter, Taffie Hansen and Stepgrandchildren. Sisters, Lupe (Gerald) Greathouse, Elvia (Benjamin) Davila, Margo Williams and Cathy (Val) Lake. Brother, Luis (Mary) Laborin. Sisters-in-law, Madeline Cox, Reva McKinley and Gladys Smith. Nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
She owned and operated Josie's Beauty Bar and until March 2003 she worked at Carol & Co. Family Salon.
A Memorial Mass will be offered on Saturday, February 14, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 1211-15th St.

Jesus A. Esqueda, Sr.,
Jesus A. Esqueda, Sr., of Willcox died May 31, 2004, at the age of 68.
He was born in Douglas, Arizona, on May 13, 1936, to Jose and Herminia (Arvayo) Esqueda.
Jesus lived all his life in Arizona and has lived in Willcox since 1957. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army, he was a copper miner, worked at Circle K in Willcox and was a clerk at Milo's. Jesus was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. On September 13, 1958, in Willcox he married Helen Torres.
Survivors include his wife Helen of Willcox, sons; Jesus A. Esqueda, Jr., Daniel (Jessica), and Raymond (Naomi) all of Willcox and his daughters; Ruth (Gabino) Ruiz of Willcox, and Beatrice (Troy) Wilmoth of Yakima, WA. Also surviving is his mother Herminia Esqueda of Phoenix, a brother, Jose of Douglas and his sisters Paquita Roqueni of Tempe, AZ and Jennie Barraza of Phoenix along with 7 grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was his father and one brother, Manuel.
A visitation will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2004, at Westlawn Chapel with a Rosary being offered at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be conducted on Friday, June 4, 2004, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow at Sunset Cemetery.

Thomas F. Bennett Jr.,
Thomas F. Bennett Jr., surrounded by his loving family went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, June 1, 2004. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary, his daughters Deborah Escalante, Susan Bennett and Joyce Hert (Byran), his son Robert Bennett. His sisters Eleanor(Jack), Joyce(Bob) and Marietta(Mike) and his brother Richard "Dickie". His five granddaughters, Shannon, Stephanie, Rachel, Jessi and Jenna. His two greatgrand children, Thorin and Svenna.
Tom retired from C&P Telephone in 1982 as an engineer with 35years of service. He and Mary moved to Douglas, AZ to be near their daughter, Deborah and her late husband, Fernando, and their only two grandchildren at the time.
Tom was an active member of St. Johns Episcopal church in Bisbee. He was a member of the choir and the vestry. Tom was a Mason, a member of the Douglas Elks, a life member of the VFW Post in Federalsburg, Md. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
A memorial service will be held Friday, June 4,2004 at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Bisbee at 11 am.

Ruth Donohoe Elliott
Ruth Donhoe Elliott passed away July 30, 2004. She was born in Douglas, Arizona Territory to Michael and Ruby Donohoe on March 26, 1909. She was a 1927 graduate of Douglas High School and a 1930 graduate of Arizona State Teacher's College at Flagstaff. She married James Alton Elliott June 10, 1930 at Immaculate Conception Church in Douglas.
Ruth taught school in McNary, Arizona from 1930-1933. Jim and Ruth then returned to Douglas. Ruth taught at Double Adobe School and at Sarah Marley Elementary School in Douglas. Ruth was honored as Delta Kappa Gamma's Educator of the Year. Ruth was active in the community. She was one of the founders of Maryvale. She served as an officer of the Douglas ARC Board. Ruth was also an active member of the Douglas Cemetery
Committee, Cochise County Historical Society and the Douglas Historical Society. She was actively involved in the CCD program in St. Luke's Parish. Ruth belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Confederacy and Daughters of 1812.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband James Elliott and twin infant sons. She is survived by daughters Ruth Aldridge Walker (Wendell) of San Antonio; Martha Elliott and Veronica Price of Douglas; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A Rosary will be recited at the Brown-Page Mortuary Chapel on Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Luke's Catholic Church on Thursday, August 5, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. with Father James Baka officiating. Burial will follow at Julia Page Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be James Aldridge, Ralph Aldridge, John Aldridge, Ashley Webb, George Hurtado and Dan Pollak.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Douglas ARC in memory of Ruth D. Elliott.
Guillermo Robeson
Mr. Guillermo Robeson of Douglas, passed away September 21, 2004 at the Eldorado Hospital in Tucson, Arizona.
Mr. Robeson was born June 12, 1953 in Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico. He was a heavy equipment operator working in construction for KE & G Company in Sierra Vista. He has been employed by them for the past 20 years. He was also a member of the Archery Club in Agua Prieta, Sonora and enjoyed hunting.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Candelaria Robeson and brother Rodolfo Robeson.
Surviving are his wife, Elva Lizarraga Robeson of Douglas. Daughter, Suzette Maria Robeson. Sons, Jesus Guillermo, Ivan and Alberto Robeson all of Douglas. Sisters, Deana Robeson, Susie Juarez and Mary Lou de La Torre. Brothers, Luis Carlos, Jorge and Enrique Robeson. He is also survived by his father, William Robeson of Agua Prieta, Sonora.

Faustina Jackson
Beloved long time resident Faustina Jackson passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2004 at Tucson Medical Center.
Faustina Jackson was born on February 27, 1916 at Fort Huachuca, Arizona to Mr. John D. and Dollie Horton. Her father was a Buffalo Soldier with the 25th infantry regiment at Fort Huachuca. For a short time, Faustina lived in Globe, Arizona returning to Douglas after the passing of her mother. She then settled in Douglas making it her permanent residence for over seventy-five years.
Mrs. Jackson was a member of the Horace Davis American Legion Post 46 and Post 11. She was also a charter member of the Queen City Chapter #5 order of the Eastern Star until the chapter closed in 1998. She worked as their treasurer and past conductress. Faustina was employed at the Cochise County Hospital as a cook, retiring after thirty years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Neal Jackson, brother Samuel Horton and granddaughter Kim T. Williams.
Faustina Jackson is survived by her son, Walter Joe and his wife Corry Williams of San Jose, California, granddaughter Dana M. and her husband Daniel James of Washington, D.C., Ingrid M. Williams of San Diego, California, Daniel M. Williams of Phoenix, Arizona and grandson Darrell J. Williams of Los Angeles, California. Along with many other loving extended family member and friends.
Visitation will be held today from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the chapel at Adair Douglas Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be held September 4, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Foothills Christian Church. Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetary.

Rodolfo "Rudy" Romero
Rodolfo "Rudy" Romero passed away on September 13, 2004 to be with our Lord, Rudy was born to Rafael and Maria Romero on March 16, 1954 in Douglas, AZ.
Rudy was preceded in death by his sister Guadalupe Gomez.
Rudy leaves behind his brothers Francisco Romero, Rafael (Gemma) Romero, Dr. Raul (Fotini) Romero, Ricardo (Lupita) Romero and Dr. Ruben (Milu) Romero. Also surviving him are his sisters Becky (Silverio) Vasquez, Bibi (Oscar) Vildosola and Rosella (Francisco) Melgoza. Rudy leaves behind several nieces and nephews and many friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2004 at St. Luke's Catholic Church. A celebration of his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2004 at St. Luke's Catholic Church. Adelina Salcido
Adelina Salcido suddenly passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at her home. She was 77 years old. Mrs. Salcido was a long time resident of Douglas. She was preceded in death by her husband Juan A. Salcido and her grandson Jose A. Salcido and most recently her youngest daughter Adelina Marta Salcido-Morris.
She was blessed with five children, Ana Maria (Luis) Melendez of Tucson, Jose A. (Martha) Salcido of Douglas, Juan F. (Joni) Salcido of New York, Lucia Teresa (Jose) Lopez of Tucson. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
She was a devout member of Immaculate Conception Church and Our Ladies Perpetual. The Rosary will be on Friday, September 17, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. in the main chapel of Adair Douglas Funeral Chapel. A Mass celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Final resting place will be in her family plot at Calvary Cemetery.

Gustavo S. Grijalva, Sr.
June 12, 1917-September 15, 2004
Gustavo S. Grijalva, Sr. was born in Cloverdale, New Mexico to Josefina and Santagio Grijalva on June 12, 1917. He was raised by Ramon Molina after his natural father passed when Gustavo was three years old.
Originally from Douglas, Arizona Gustavo and his wife moved to Tucson in 1998 due to illness.
Gustavo is preceded in death by his wife Renia Grijalva on August 5, 1999.
Gustavo is survived by his children Alfredo (Christina), George (Virginia), Gloria Burke, Gustavo Jr. (Carmen), Alex (Jo) and Ramon (Corey) Grijalva. He has 29 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Cleo, Maggie, Lola, Eva, Mercedes and his brother Miguel as well as many nieces and nephews.
Tues. 9/21/04 8:15 to 10:15 Center 9:30 a.m. Mass will be offered September 21, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine's Cathedral in Tucson. Burial will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery

Reuben M. Baldenegro
Douglas resident, Reuben M. Baldenegro, passed away September 22, 2004 at the Tucson Medical Center.
Reuben was born February 26, 1930 in Douglas, Arizona to Manuel Jesus and Luz Maldonado Baldenegro.
He graduated from Douglas High School after which he joined the U.S. Marine Corps serving during the Korean War and was discharged in 1953. He then worked for Phelps Dodge Corp. for a period of 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia in 1964, father, Manuel Jesus in 1972, mother Luz in 1992 and brother Hector in 2002.
He is survived by brothers Antonio (Dora) Baldenegro and Angel Baldenegro. Sisters, Myrna (Gilbert), Norma and Rosa Maria (Bobby). Also surviving are many nephews and nieces and grandnephews and grandnieces.
He will be much loved and remembered by not only family members but also neighbors and friends. May God bless and keep him in his glory.

Dolores M. Monje
Longtime Douglas resident, Dolores M. Monje, passed away September 26, 2004 at the Southeast Arizona Medical Center.
Mrs. Monje was born January 18, 1929 in Via Hidalgo, Sonora, Mexico. She has been a Douglas resident for the past 51 yeas. She was a member of St. Luke's Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose C. Monje in 1995 and a daughter, Graciela Monje in 1996.
Mrs. Monje is survived by her daughter, Enriqueta Monje of Douglas. Son, Arturo Monje of Phoenix. Sister Lupita Moreno de Coral of Hermosillo, Sonora. Brothers, Isaias and Ismael Moreno of Hermosillo, Sonora. Mother-in-law, Rosa Monje of Douglas. Also surviving are her 4 grandchildren, Arturo, Jr., Andy, Tony and Alissa Monje.

Willard Reed Lee
Mr. Willard Reed Lee of Elfrida, Arizona passed away August 30, 2004 at his home in Elfrida.
Mr. Lee was born September 12, 1924 in Maverick, Texas to Ellis and Gladys Mackey Lee. Willard proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII being honorably discharged as a Cpl. on May 10, 1946. He moved to Brownfield Texas in 1951 and moved to Venezuela in 1955 where he worked for Halliburton Services retiring as a supervisor in 1971 after 16 years with the company.
After his retirement, he moved to Elfrida where he farmed and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Mr. Lee was a member of BPO Elks Lodge #955 in Douglas and was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Elfrida.
Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Jessie Lee of Elfrida. Son, Mitch (Sharon) Lee of Elephant Butte, New Mexico. Daughter, Cindy (Danny) Panzer of Artesia, New Mexico. Sister, Bonnie Hedges of Elfrida. Also surviving are his grandsons, Dustin Lee, Heath Lee, Sy Panzer and Russell Panzer.
Mr. Lee was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Darrell Lee.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 3, 2004 from 5-7 p.m. at the Brown Page Mortuary Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2004 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Elfrida with Reverend John Grimes and Ed Curry officiating. Burial will follow at the McNeal Cemetery.
Pallbearers who will serve are: Bruce Keeling, Paul Hammock, Larry Waters, Chris Hedges, Glenn Brazeal, Lee Hedges, Calving King, Greg Lee and Clint King.
