C. B. Matheson
(April 20, 1923 - June 25, 2011)
C. B. Matheson age 88, of Cove, Arkansas passed away Saturday, June 25, 2011 in Texarkana, Texas.
C. B. was born April 20, 1923 in Hartly, Arkansas to the late William Garland Matheson and the late Ruthie Mae Carter Matheson. He was married to Nadine Bever Matheson for 68 wonderful years. He drove a school bus for 23 years and was a lifelong rancher by profession. He served his country in the World War ll. C. B. was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother, uncle and a friend to all who knew him.
He is survived by:

Daughter: Delores Matheson and husband Tommy Summers of Cove, Arkansas
Sons: Gary Matheson and wife Darlene of DeQueen, Arkansas Wade Matheson and wife Laura of Gillham, Arkansas
Grandchildren: Theresa Anderson and husband David of Springdale, Arkansas Steven Casey and wife Christina of Cove, Arkansas Sheryl Hammonds and husband Tony of New Boston, Texas Mike Matheson and wife Melissa of Hatfield, Arkansas Randy Matheson and wife Lorna of Grass Valley, California Ben Matheson and wife Rachel of Winthrop, Arkansas Kristi Elmore and husband Darrell of Gillham, Arkansas Dustin Wolcott of DeQueen, Arkansas
Sister: Virginia Lawrence of Texarkana, Texas
24 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren Many nieces and nephews His faithful and loving dog, Sam and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruthie Matheson, two sisters, Hazel Matheson, and Clio Crawford, brothers, Johnny Matheson, Roy Matheson, Tom Matheson and a great grandson, Christopher “Bubba” Casey.
Pallbearers will be Steve Casey, Ben Matheson, Tony Hammonds, Mike Matheson, Eric Casey,David Anderson and Dustin Wolcott.
Family and friends visitation will be Tuesday, June 28, from 6:00 -8:00 p. m. at Beasley-Wood Chapel.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 4:00 p. m. in the Beasley-Wood Chapel with Brother Reggie Fryar and Brother Charles Sutton officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery
in Cove, Arkansas under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
Nan Margaret Carver
(April 4, 1920 - June 26, 2011)
Nan Margaret (Nanny) Barnes Carver was born April 04, 1920 in Abilene, Texas to Ollie Mae and Clarence Clifton Barnes. Nan passed away June 26, 2011 at her home. She grew up in Texas and graduated from Abilene High School in 1937. She attended Abilene Christian College. She spent her summers in Mena, with her maternal grandparents.
During World War ll, she worked at Camp Barkley near Abilene as a telephone operator. It was in Mena that Nan met her future husband, Jay Carver. They married in Mena on November 28, 1947. Jay worked with his brother Richard at Carver Butane and in 1968 started Carver Air Conditioning.
Nan worked part time at Thomas Jewelry for many years. She was active in the community and was a member of Chapter AO of PEO for a number of years and was a past state president of that organization in 1982. She was also active in her church, First United Methodist of Mena, where she served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years and on numerous committees of the church. She had a life long interest in theater and acted in many plays in college and was a supporter and participant in Ouachita Little Theater in Mena for a number of years.
She was very involved in the activities of her grandchildren and attended numerous baseball, football, basketball, volleyball and soccer games, not to mention their recitals and graduations.
Nan was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Jay, and by her son, Jim, her grandson, Michael, great granddaughter, Kearston Egger and son-in-law, Tom Lowrance. She is survived by three children, Jan Carver Puckett and husband John. Fran Carver Lowrance and Dr. Joel Carver and wife Lynn. She is survived by 9 grandchildren, Tia King and husband Kenny, Jayme Ozanich and husband Lanny, D’Ann Fryar and husband William, Christopher Puckett and fiancée Emily Smith, Joshua Miller, Dax Miller and wife Mary Jane, Scarlett Evert and husband JR, Katy Carver and Evan Carver. Three step grandchildren, Tina Seigrist and husband Tony, Lisa McVey and husband Fred, and John Puckett, Jr. and 19 great grandchildren.
Family and Friends visitation will be Monday, June 27, 2011 in the Beasley-Wood Chapel from 6:00 – 8:00 p. m.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 28, 2011, 10:00 a. m. at First United Methodist Church in Mena with Reverend Gary Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Miller, Dax Miller, Christopher Puckett, Evan Carver, Evan Fryar and Avery King.
Honorary pallbearers will be Members of Chapters AO and CV, PEO, Leroy Thomas, Bob Carver, Rick Carver, Ed Stevenson and John Jones.
Joyce Meador Baker
(March 27, 1934-June 13, 2011)
Joyce Meador Baker age 77 of Mena, died on Monday, June 13, 2011 at the Mena Regional Health System in Mena. Joyce was born on Tuesday, March 27, 1934 to George Wilson and Delta Louise Myers Meador in Umpire, Arkansas.
She loved to laugh and smile and was known for her good sense of humor. She was a proud of her children and her family. They brought great joy to her. She loved to play dominoes and to have a good cup of coffee. She enjoyed crocheting and made numerous gifts for her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Gene Musick; her second husband, Otis Baker; two brothers, G. W. Meador and Gerald Meador; two sisters, Jerry Glover and Pat House; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Survivors include three sons, Randy Musick of Athens, Arkansas, Ron and daughter-in-law Kathy Musick of King George, Virginia, and Tim Musick of Maryland; one daughter Sheryl and son-in-law Jon Belamy of Colorado Springs, Colorado; five brothers and sisters-in-law Bud and Dorothy Meador of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Harry and Masako Meador; Pierre and Nancy Meador of Branch, Arkansas, Parker and Lisa Meador of Hatton, Arkansas and Bill Meador of Wickes; one sister, Sybil Jones of Wickes, Arkansas, five grand children and two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 26th at the Community Center Housing Project in Wickes with Leon McClesky officiating. Interment follows in Daniels Cemetery
in Wickes. Cremation services are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home of Mena.

JIMMY O. NEAL, AGE 74, OF MT. IDA, Passed away TUESDAY, JUNE 21ST, 2011. FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS WILL BE ANNOUNCED BY THORNTON FUNERAL HOME OF MT. IDA.
Robert Joe Davis
(August 24, 1960-June 21, 2011)
Robert Joe Davis age 50 of Mena died Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at St. Edwards Mercy Medical Center in Ft. Smith. He was born on August 24, 1960 to Billy Joe and Martha Anthony Davis in Spokane, Washington.
Robert was a jokester an enjoyed a good laugh. He liked to make people smile. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his son Chance. He was very proud of his son. Robert enjoyed being outdoors; either deer hunting, water skiing, scuba diving or 4- wheeling down the trails. He was an excellent carpenter and loved working with his hands. He drove a cement truck for Transit Cement Company for 15 years. He will be missed by all who knew him. Robert had faith in the Lord.
He is preceded in death by his father, Billy Joe Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Shelia Davis of the home; his mother, Martha “Marty” Davis of Mena; his stepfather and friend, James Phillips of Mena; one son, Chance Davis of Mena; one stepdaughter, Amanda Warren of Acorn; one sister, Teresa Davis of Mena; two aunts, Nancy Langford of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Dorothy Weimer of Lakewood, California; three step grandchildren, Kaitlin, Alyssa, and Myah Warren all of Acorn; several cousin and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be Friday, June 25, 2011 at 10:00 A. M. at the Chant Cemetery
at Y-City under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena. Visitation will be general, Thursday, June 23, 2011.
Memorials can be made to the Chant Cemetery

Daisy Bell Deramus Wallis
(February 10, 1921 - June 20, 2011)
Daisy Bell Deramus Wallis, age 90, of Mena, Arkansas passed away Monday, June 20, 2011 in Mena.
She was born February 10, 1921 in Mena, Arkansas to the late Vessie Bryant Goodner and the late Ann Wilhite Goodner. She was united in marriage to James Richard Deramus until his passing and then to Melton Wallis. She was a member of the Anointed Faith Tabernacle Church and was a loving homemaker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend.
She is survived by:

Daughter: Janie Hicks and husband Melvin of Mena, Arkansas
Sister: Marie Adams of Apache Junction, Arizona

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vessie and Ann Goodner, her first and second husbands, James Richard Deramus, and Melton Wallis, respectively, a brother, Marvin Goodner and 2 sisters, Otha Lee Brooks and Bernice Davis.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 10:00 a. m. at the United Pentecostal Church with Brother Billy Dunahoo and Brother Niles White officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Ridge Cemetery
under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, June 21, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Aaron Miner, Aaron Gorman, Hunter Medford, Ryan Deramus, Larry Goodner and Trevor Kiser.
The family would like to thank the staff at Rich Mountain Nursing and Rehab Center for the wonderful care of Mrs. Wallis.

Clayton Chaney, age 64 of Mena, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Clayton was born February 16, 1947 in Hatfield, Arkansas to the late Fred Chaney and late Vera Shepherd Chaney. He was a truck driver by profession. Thomas Wayne Hammond, age 52, of Mena, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2011 in Mena. Wayne was born November 06, 1958 in Dallas, Texas to the late John Hammond and Sally Brown Gentry. He was married to Lisa Martin Hammond. Wayne was a carpenter by trade and he enjoyed his hobbies of tropical birds and salt water aquarium. Wayne was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him.
