Zazel Irene Standridge
(October 25, 1916 - April 21, 2011)
Zazel Irene Standridge, 94, of Mena, AR. died Thursday, April 21, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 25, 1916 in Alder Springs, AR. She was a member of Dallas Avenue Baptist Church. She was a retired housekeeper for the old Mena Hospital on Pine Street and was preceded in death by her husband Elijah Nathan Standridge and her parents Sara Jane Oglesby and Benjamin Wiley Oglesby, a son, Robert Charles Standridge and four brothers: BW, Paul, Elmer and Raymond Oglesby.
Survivors include: Two sons, Elton Gene Standridge and wife Betty of Gurdon AR, Gary Standridge of Mena, AR and daughter-in-law Carolyn Standridge of Bella Vista, AR. One brother, Bill Oglesby and wife Joyce of Rocky Face, Georgia and two sisters, Juanita Vaught of McKinney, TX and Opal Fields and husband B. E. of Waxahachie, TX. One sister-in-law, Mabel Oglesby of Mena, AR. Eight grandchildren: David Standridge of Bismarck, AR: Julie Dickerson and husband Terry of Bismarck, AR; Mark Standridge and wife Stacy of Mena, AR; Lisa Coleman and husband Lance of Greenwood, AR. Penny Standridge of Alabama. Kay Bond and husband Andrew of Houston, TX: Trent Standridge and Channing of Van Buren, AR; Misty McEntire and husband Adam of Van Buren, AR. Fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Four step-grand children: James Rutherford, Scotty Rutherford, Dana Henry, and Jeff Rutherford, nine step-great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 10:00 a. m. at the Beasley-Wood Chapel with Brother Chad Hill officiating. Interment follows in Lower Big Fork Cemetery
under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be Friday evening, April 22nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be great grandsons: Nicholas and Jake Dickerson, Dalton Standridge, Cody Ackerman, Josh Hall and Kylee Simmons. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rusty, Chris and Tate Oglesby.
Dolan F. Daniel
(January 18, 1924 - April 21, 2011)
Dolan F. Daniel, age 87, of Cove, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011 at his home.
He was born January 18, 1924 in Vandervoort, Arkansas to the late William F. Daniel and the late Mary R. Brun Daniel. He was united in marriage to Cleon Bell. Dolan was a timber buyer for International Paper Company and was also a veteran, serving his country in the United States Navy during World War II and the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
He is survived by:

Grandchildren: Cliff Edwards, Eric Fullerton, Rheanna Edwards, and Amanda Theodorson
Great-Granddaughter: Skylar Day
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Daniel and by three sisters, Margie McDaniel, Hilda Davis, and Phoebe Daniel.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 25, 2011 at 2:00 p. m. at the Vandervoort First Baptist Church with Brother Barry Godwin officiating. Interment follows in Witherspoon Cemetery
under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be Sunday evening, April 24th from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Apple, Ben House, Hilton Bell, Nick Strother, Jessie Oliver, and Jason Randall. Honorary pallbearers will be the men’s 60 + Sunday School Class.
Marjorie Jean White
(July 29, 1922-April 20, 2011)
Marjorie Jean White, age 88, died peacefully Wednesday, April 20, 2011 in Mena, Arkansas of a short illness. Marjorie was born on July 29, 1922 to John Athol and Edith Sarah Kakela Kelly in Lewistown, Montana.
Her childhood years were spent in Butte, Montana, as the oldest of four children. Marjorie graduated from Butte High School and attended Bremerton Business School. On April 5, 1942, she married Edward C. White and together they raised three children. Married 52 years, they lived in Kalispell, Montana; Port Orchard, Washington, and Adak, Alaska. Marjorie spent the first part of her marriage as a homemaker and then worked for the Bureau of Reclamation at the Hungry Horse Dam. Marjorie enjoyed hiking, reading biographies, compiling scrapbooks, and following current events.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Clayton Kelly and her sister, Evelyn Johnson.
She is survived by her children, Carol J. Smith (Ted) of Mena, Arkansas; John E. White (Barbara) and Gil A. White of Milton, Washington; her sister, Virginia Dennehy (Ed) of Butte, Montana; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on April 30, 2011 at the Conrad Memorial Cemetery
in Kalispell,Montana.
Arrangements are entrusted to Hall Funeral Service in Mena.
Sadie Cottman Rogers
(October 22, 1912 - April 20, 2011)
Sadie Cottman Rogers, age 98, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Mena Regional Health System.
She was born on October 22, 1912 at Board Camp, Arkansas, the daughter of Walter and Virgie Bain. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Bill Cottman and Henry Rogers. Five brothers, one sister and granddaughter, Angela Carr.
She survived by daughters, Melba Blair, husband Jr. of Mena, Vaudine White of Mena, three grandchildren, Tammy McGuire, husband Paul of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, Terry Rhyne, husband Kirk of Fresno, Ohio, Lisa Holiman, husband Ronnie of Benton, Arkansas, Ann Walker, husband Orval and Wilma Moody, husband Vic, Aurora, Missouri. Five great-grandchildren, Courtney Jones, Mallory Carmichael, William Ronning, Justin Webb, Kevin Jackson. Two great-great-grandchildren, Haley Jones and Jordan Jones plus many nieces, nephews, and friends. Sadie worked at the hospital for many years and was a wonderful cook, loving mother, and grandmother. She attended the First Baptist Church of Mena.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 2:00 p. m. at the First Baptist Church in Mena with Brother Roger Bishop as minister and Brother David McCord assisting. Interment follows in Concord Cemetery
under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena. Visitation will be Friday evening, April 22nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Dicky Walker, Jeff Walker, Doug Cottman, Danny Edwards, Robert Swinford, and Stephen Blair.
Roger Fuller
(July 13, 1940 - April 20, 2011)
Roger "Bud" Fuller, age 70, died in his home in Mena Arkansas on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 due to complications associated with brain cancer. Born July 13, 1940, in Waldron, Arkansas, to Jenny-Anne Maxine Rogers Fuller and Franklin Clifton Pierce Fuller. He graduated from Waldron High School in 1958, entered the United States Air Force and was trained as a dental technician. After completing his enlistment in the Air Force, he was honorably discharged and accepted into the University at Conway, studying Psychology and Sociology. Upon graduation from UCA, he accepted a position at Arkansas Lighthouse of the Blind as the Supervisor of Client services. Roger loved to work with his hands and decided to go back to work in Dentistry. Roger helped establish a new dental laboratory in North Little Rock and served as partner, prior to taking a position running a satellite laboratory for Green Dental Lab in Hot Springs, AR. Roger was a nationally certified dental technician and won best technician in the Tri-state area in 1986. He lived in a myriad of places. Of note, while in Okinawa, Japan, he was a cross country track team member and set a number of records comparable to Olympic times. He also set records in race walking and recumbent bike riding here locally while competing against much younger athletes. Roger will be will be remembered for his incredible balance of physical, intellectual and spiritual gifts as well as his unique sense of humor. He was always exceptionally fit and demonstrated an unparalleled work ethic. Roger was an excellent writer. He wrote articles, poems, and cartoons for a myriad of local, state and national publications. He was equally drawn to the spiritual facets of life, which resulted in a thirst for biblical principles. His co-workers all site his view of the world. Survivors include his significant companion Patsy Stanley Austin, his son Ashley Eliot and wife Charlet with children Avary and Binh of Mobile, AL, son Robin Nathan and wife Candice with children Connor, Isabelle, and Alexander or Oskaloosa, IA, daughter, Lacy Lancaster, Boise, ID, brother Jerry Allen Fuller and wife Sherry of Lawton, OK, Sisters Shirley Diamond of DeQueen, AR, Carol (Tilly) Rose and husband Bobby of Boles, AR, Sharon Stubbs and Dr. Louis Stubbs of DeQueen, AR, Rhonda and Keith Piles of Parks, AR, and Anitra and Rudy Barnett of Hope. AR as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will have private service in the summer. His ashes will be interred next to his parents on the family farm. Memorial contributions can be made to one of two children's homes. Contributions should be mailed to the Children's Home Inc., P. O. Box 460, Paragould, AR 72451 or Southern Christian Home, P. O. Box 649, Morrillton, AR 72110. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Doug A. Beck
(February 23, 1957 - April 18, 2011)
Mr. Doug A. Beck, age 54, of Hatfield, Arkansas, passed away Monday, April 18, 2011 in Hot Springs.
He was born February 23, 1957 in Taylorville, Illinois to the late Everett Oliver Beck and the late Mary Alice Brunken Beck. He was united in marriage to Netlla Cureton Beck. He was a farmer by profession and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Doug loved sitting on his pond dam watching over his place. He was a loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
He is survived by:

Nephews: Russell Beck and wife Amanda Dustin Beck and wife Cathy
3 great nephews and 1 great niece
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett Oliver and Mary Alice Beck, and by his first wife, Shari Beck.
Funeral services were Friday, April 22, 2011 at 2:00 p. m. at Hatfield First Baptist Church. Interment followed in Six Mile Cemetery
under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Bill Barrett, Don Youngblood, Hershel Bell, Josh Owens, Jeremy Owens, and Gordon Self. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Rose, Donnie Johnson, Arlon Long, Clovis Kesterson, Calvin Fairless, Ken Miller, Jody Miller, and Travis Miller.
Nathaniel Ray Fergason
(July 23, 1999-April 17, 2011)
Nathaniel Ray Fergason age 11 of Mena, died Sunday, April 17, 2011 at the Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. He was born on July 23, 1999 to Kevin Fergason and Shari Dawn Jobe Dominguez in Mena, Arkansas.
Nathaniel will be missed by so many. He was a true inspiration to many people and changed many lives during his short time here with us. Anyone that met Nathaniel loved him. He enjoyed spending time with his family and being loved by them. He liked his movies and really enjoyed listening to his music. “Jesus Loves Me” and “Head, Shoulder, Knees and Toes” were his favorites. Nathaniel was a fourth grader at Holly Harshman Elementary and enjoyed going to school very much. He attended the First Baptist Church in Mena with his family.
Survivors include his father, Kevin Fergason of Woodlawn, Texas; his mother and stepfather, Shari and Rodney Dominguez of Mena; two sisters, Renee Fergason of Mena and Taylor Dominguez of Booneville; two brothers, Ace and Levi Mason of Mt. Vernon, Texas; paternal grandmother, Joy Hastey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; maternal grandmother, Mary Jobe of Mena; four uncles, Tommy Fairless and Kenny Fairless of Woodlawn, Texas, Johnny Jobe of Vandervoort and Shawn Jobe of Fort Smith; two aunts, Ginger Clark of McAlester, Oklahoma and Elizabeth Bellon of Montegut, Louisiana; several cousins; and a hosts of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 10:00 A. M. at the First Baptist Church in Mena with Dr. David McCord officiating. Interment will follow in the Cecil Chapel Cemetery
near Cove. Visitation will be Friday, April 22, 2011 at the Hall Funeral Service Chapel in Mena from 6-8 P. M.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Cabello, Michael Cabello, Dr. Richard Lochala, Leo Barge, Tommy Fairless and Kenny Fairless.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Matthew Bowser and Elijah Dominguez.

John Harry Richter
(August 4, 1921 - April 17, 2011)
John Harry Richter age 89, of Mena, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2010 in Mena.
He was born on August 4, 1921 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. John served his country as a pilot in the United States Air Core and the United States Air Force during World War ll. He also was a ranch owner in the Horse Industry which he loved. He was a loving father and friend to all who knew him and he will be missed by all.
He is survived by:

Caregiver and Special Friend: Lucille Edgerton of Mena, Arkansas
Friend: William (Skip) snd Cheryl Moehring of Mena, Arkansas
Mr. Richter was sent for cremation under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena
Donald Edward Myers, Jr.
(January 4, 1960 - April 16, 2011)
Mr. Donald Edward Myers, Jr., age 51, a resident of Wickes, Arkansas, died Saturday, April 16, 2011, at his home.
He was born to Donald Edward, Sr. and Mary Woods Myers at Norfolk, Virginia, on January 4, 1960. He was a former USDA Inspector. He was a Baptist, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, target shooting, and 4-wheelers.
He is survived by his x-wife, Norma Jean Wright of Broken Bow, Okla. a son, Dustin Edward Myers of Van Buren, Arkansas, a daughter, Shermeka Myers of Broken Bow, Okla. ; and a brother, Randy Myers of Houston, Texas.
A private memorial service will be at at later date. Cremation arrangements are under the Direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
George Mitchell Fussell
(June 4, 1951-April 16, 2011)
George Mitchell Fussell age 59 of Mena died Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. He was born on Monday, June 4, 1951 to John Lesley and Frances Delois William Fussell in Tallulah, Louisiana.
Mitchell served his country in the United States Army 4th Infantry, serving two tours in Vietnam. He also served in the National Guard as a Tank Commander. After the military, Mitchell went on to get a Vocational Degree in Diesel Mechanics from the Cabrillo Community College in Santa Cruz, California. He worked most of his life working as a certified diesel mechanic and took great pride in his work. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt, fish and going camping. He also was his sons’ baseball coach and in 1985 was awarded Coach of the Year. He was very proud of the achievement. He loved spending time with his wife and children. He was of the Baptist Faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter Bethany Fussell.
Survivors include his wife, Vicky Fussell of the home; seven sons, Keith Fussell of Mena, Erick Fussell of Fort Smith, Mark Fussell of Acorn, Jamie Fussell of Mena, J. D. Hooks of Mena; Dustin Hooks of Mena and Timothy Hooks of Mena; one brother, Johnnie Fussell of South Carolina; two sisters Frances Hoskins of Ceres, California and Carol Freeman of Escolin, California; six grandchildren, Marcus Fussell of Mena, Brooklynn Fussell of Mena, Keith Fussell Jr. of Mena, Augusta Fussell of Mena, and Trent Fussell of Mena; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 2:00 P. M. at the family’s residence in Mena with Reverend Keith Fussell officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Hall Funeral Service in Mena.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Disabled American Veterans, C/O Rex Burns, 2960 Hwy 71 North, Mena, Arkansas 71953.
