Vernon R. Gibbs

Vernon Robert “Bob” Gibbs, 83, of Cabot died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006 in Little Rock. He was born on January 5, 1923 to the late Edward Alexander and Cora Edith Winland Gibbs in Clarendon. Bob was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Cabot. He worked on the Interstate 40 project and the Titan II missile sites. Mr. Gibbs was a World War II veteran of the Navy. He also loved to hunt and fish.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his great grandson, Maxson Dow Lendermon.

He is survived by his wife, Lillie “Bo” Kathrine Knight Gibbs of Cabot; two children, Kaye Lendermon and her husband, Russell of Cabot and Wayne Gibbs and his wife, Ruby of Greenbrier; two sisters, Edith Marie Long and Catherine Chastain, both of Beebe; one brother, James Gibbs of Cabot; four grandchildren, Deanna Hutslar, Darren Lendermon, Robert Gibbs, Ronald Gibbs; and three great grandchildren, Ryan and Blake Hutslar and Mia Lendermon.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at Cabot Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2, 2006 at the Chapel of Cabot Funeral Home. Interment will be 1 p.m. at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
Arrangements are under the direction of Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home 843-5816.

Gary Hilburn

Gary Hilburn, 59, of Camden died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006. He served in the U.S. Army and was a truck driver.

Survivors include his children Shawn Hilburn of Cabot, Phillip Hilburn of Jacksonville, and Jesse Black of St. Petersburg, Fla.; brother James Hilburn of Cedar Springs, Ga.; sister Ginger Schultz of Ocola, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, Sept. 27, at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home.

Betty Jett

Betty Jean Morris Jett, 78, of Carlisle, formerly of Forrest City, died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006. She worked at Bob’s Beauty Shop for over 30 years. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Forrest City.

She was preceded in death by her parents James Hampton and Beulah White Morris; husband Tommy Jett; two sisters; and two brothers.

She is survived by her sisters Clara Mae Lee of Chaparrel, N.M., and Joy Barnett of St. Louis, Mo.

Funeral services were held graveside Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Forrest City Cemetery in Forrest City.

Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Hospice Inc., 5600 W. 12th Street, Little Rock, Ark. 72204.

Arrangements were by Stevens Funeral Home.

John M. Walter

John M. Walter, 42, of North Little Rock, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006 at his residence. He was born Sept. 1, 1964 in Oceanside, Calif. John was preceded in death by his brother Jamey Walter.

Survivors include his mother, Joyce Lyberand and her husband, Jim of Sherwood; three sisters, Tefela Grissom and husband, Jerry of Conway, Rhonda Walter-Myers of North Little Rock and Melissa Long and husband Charles of Cabot, four nephews, four nieces, three great nieces and one great nephew as well as several other cousins, friends and family.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home with Rev. Norman Powel officiating. Interment will follow in Sumner Cemetery.

Frances M. Shook

Frances Mary Shook, 92, of Carlisle, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006.

She is survived by her son Laurence Shook and wife Thelma of Carlisle; sister Agnes Luts of Dadeville, Ala.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services were held Thursday, September 28, at the Center Point Cemetery.
Arrangements were by Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen.

Richard Ringwald

Richard Frederick Ringwald, 79, of Vilonia died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006. After serving in the Korean War and retiring from the U.S. Army, he farmed many years in Romance. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father Freida and Earl Ringwald and two daughters.

He is survived by his wife Virgie Lee Ringwald; sons Jerald B. Teague of Cabot, and Harold A. Teague and wife Susan of Tucson, Ariz.; daughter Velva Collins of North Little Rock; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 30, at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Cabot. Burial was in the Romance Cemetery.

Arrangements were by the North Little Rock Funeral Home.

Wesley D. Davis

Wesley Donald Davis, 42, of Austin died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006. He was an associate of Garver Engineers for 16½ years and a member of First Cabot Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Earl Davis, Johnnie Sue Deweese and W.H. Deweese.

He is survived by his wife Melissa Davis; son Ethan Robson; daughters Jesse Marie Davis and Emily Robson, all of Austin; brother Dylan Davis of Paris; grandmother Era Gene Davis of Paris; parents Janet Hill and husband Ken of Allen, Texas, and Ronnie Davis of Paris.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 30, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home Chapel in North Little Rock. Graveside services were held at Baxley Cemetery in Paris later in the day on Saturday.

Memorials may be made to a college fund for his children at First National Bank of Paris, P.O. Box 31, Paris, AR 62855.

Arrangements were by Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home.

Irene H. Barrett

Irene H. Barnett, 82, of North Little Rock died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006. Irene was born in Aplin, Ark., to the late John Wesley and Mamie Jane Davis Hamilton. She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband Robert Barrett.

She is survived by her son Floyd Golden and wife Ethel of North Little Rock; stepdaughter Betty Beatty and husband LeRoy of McGehee; brother Dee Hamilton of Fort Smith; sister Ima Faye Ramsey of Little Rock; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Monday, Oct. 9, at Hamilton Cemetery in Adona.
Arrangements were by Roller-Owens Funeral Home in North Little Rock.

Christopher McKinzie

Christopher Dale “Chris” McKinzie, 32, of Plano, Texas, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006. He was a financial planner, a Master Mason and a Knight Templar in the York Rite of Freemasonry.

He is survived by his fiancée Claudine Wright; daughter Hannah; son Jackson; parents Roger and Dalene of Fayetteville; sister Cindy Ross and husband Mark of Valley Village, Calif.; brothers Tim McKinzie and wife Ann, of Cabot, and Daniel McKinzie and wife Crista of Fayetteville.

Funeral services with Masonic honors were held Monday, Oct. 9, at Ted Dickey Funeral Home.

Sally A. Grace

Sally Ann Grace, 65, of North Little Rock died Friday, Oct. 6, 2006. She was a member of Rose City Church of the Nazarene and a retired Certified Nursing Assistant.

She was preceded in death by her husband Winfred Grace, and son Richard Scott Capps.

She is survived by her daughters Lisa Slayton and husband Gene of North Little Rock, Kerry Eason and husband Carroll of Sallisaw, Okla., Michele Gains of Jacksonville, Elizabeth Reusser of North Little Rock, and Tina Miller and husband Paul of Norfolk, Va.; sons Michael Gains of Lonoke and Neal Grace of North Little Rock; sister Juanita Sloate of Dewitt; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 901 North University Ave., Little Rock, Ark., 72207.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Calvary Baptist Church in Rose City.
Arrangements by North Little Rock Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
