Charles Kortenber
Charles Edwin Kortenber, 67, of Pine Bluff, died April 20, 2006.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a world history teacher in the Pine Bluff School System for 32 years. He was a Catholic.
Survivors include his son, Dr. John Charles Kortenber of Algona, IA; daughter, Kathleen K. Faucett of Carlisle; brother, Robert Louis Kortenber, Jr., of Hot Springs; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services were held by Ralph Robinson & Son on April 24 in Bellwood Cemetery.
Reed “Slick” Bray
Reed “Slick” Bray, 81, of Mount Pleasant, died April 21, 2006.
He served in the United States Air Force during World War II and was employed many years by Silica Transport in Guion, and Ideal Bakery in Batesville. He was a member of the Barren Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Willene “Willie” Bray of the home; son Joey Bray of Cabot; daughters, Becky Johnson of Mt. Pleasant and Lori Loggains of Melbourne; sisters, Veola Claxton, Joyce Mynatt both of Mt. Pleasant and Beth Edwards of Lafferty; brothers, Lucius and Paul Bray, both of Mt. Pleasant; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held April 24 at the Barren Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant.
Burial was at Barren Fork Cemetery
under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Memorials may be made to the Barren Fork Building Fund.
Margaret Jolly Ward
Margaret Geneva Jolly Ward, 80, of Little Rock, died April 22, 2006.
Survivors include her sons, Bill of Little Rock and Jim Ward of Cabot; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and brother William Jolly of Little Rock.
She was a member of North Hills Baptist Church in Sherwood and before that a long- standing member of Oak Park Baptist Church in Little Rock.
Funeral services will be held Thurs., April 27, at 11 a.m. at Oak Park Baptist Church, 8200 Flint Ridge Road in Little Rock. Officiating will be her nephew, Ron Carter.
Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held Wed., April 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth, 5800 West 12th, Little Rock.

Nicole “ Nikki “ Megan Parsons, age 19, of Cabot, died Friday April 28, 2006.
She attended ASU Beebe.
Survivors include parents Craig and Barbara Parsons of Cabot; brothers, Scott Parsons of Cabot and Jason Daniels of Little Rock; grandparents, Barbara Fomby of Texarkana, John Lowe of Cabot and Patricia Parsons of Little Rock.

Marie Garrett
Marie Garrett, 90, of Jacksonville, died Monday, April 24, 2006 at home. She was a multiple medalist in the Senior Olympics, an award winning cook, an accomplished seamstress and an avid gardener. She was active with the Senior Citizens of Jacksonville.
Marie, known to many as She is survived by daughters, Lois Douglass, Farmington, New Mexico., Lorene Jones, Little Rock and Martha Hardin, Cabot; sons George Dover, Pocahontas, Doyle Dover, North Little Rock and David Brannon, Lonoke; 20 grandchildren, 29 great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation was Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home. Funeral services was Thursday, April 27, 2006, at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, Cabot. Rev. Cliff Hutchins officiated, with special words from Rev. Ben Leonard and Rev. John Sammons.

Oretha Marie Turner
Oretha Marie (Nichols) Turner, age 86 of Searcy, passed away April 23, 2006 at her home. Mrs. Turner, a member of the College Church of Christ was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Turner, a daughter, Linda Oretha Turner, and her parents P.J. and Ulma Nichols.
Survivors include her brother Loren Nichols; a sister Lorene Leath and 13 nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. with the services immediately following at 10:00 a.m. at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home.

Nell McKelvy,78, Bluff City, died April 27 in Prescott. Survived by husband, Herman; son, Ronald; daughter, Judy Phelps, Cabot; and five grandsons.

Joyce J. Gammel
Joyce Jeanette Gammel, age 63, died April 26, 2006.
She is survived by her husband, Garlin Gammel and a daughter, Angela Laura Gammel of England; one grandson; a brother, Harlen Castleberry of England.
Funeral service was Friday at Humnoke Pentecostal Church of God, where she had been a member for 35 years. Burial followed in Union Valley Cemetery. Arrangements, Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.
Vernon B. Hallum
Vernon B. (Papaw) Hallum, age 88, died April 29, 2006. He was a member of Brownsville Baptist Church.
Survivors are his sons, Carroll Hallum, Don Hallum, and Wayne Hallum; and daughter, Judith Tate, all of Lonoke; 13 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday at Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke with interment in Lonoke Cemetery.

Cindy Whitlock
Cindy (Kuntz) Whitlock, 47, of Scott, died April 24, 2006.
She was a registered nurse and a member of Lynch View Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Whitlock; daughters, Christie Whitlock, both of Scott, and Laura Whitlock, of Baltimore, MY.
Funeral services were held April 27 at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in the Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Linda Le Ann Rice
Linda Le Ann Rice, 42,of Austin, died April 23, 2006. She was a member of Crosspoint Ministries. She was a graduate of Northeast High in North Little Rock and attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Survivors include her parents, Carolyn and Garland E. “Jiggs” Rice, Jr. of Austin; brothers, Garland “Butch” Rice, III, and Jody Rice, both of Beebe; and paternal grandmother, Martha Leona Rice of Arkansas City.
Funeral services were held April 27 at Crosspoint Ministries in Beebe. Arrangements were by Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe.
