David L. Jackson
David L. Jackson, 41, of Austin, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2006.
He was a race horse trainer and a member of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Stuart Jackson of Austin; daughter, Jamie Jackson of Conway; stepsons, Luke and Spencer Eldridge of Pangburn; father, Walter “Red” Jackson of Austin; brother, Walter Ray Jackson of Arlington, TX; and sister, Carolyn Harbort of Mildenhall, England.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wed., Feb. 15, at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1430 McCollum Road in Austin.
Arrangements were by the Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe.
Lewis C. Gatewood
Lewis Charles “L.C.” Gatewood, 79, of Lonoke, died Feb. 7, 2006.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lillie Gatewood; sons, Jesse Lewis of Little Rock, Rev. James Charles of Sulphur, LA, Elder Ronnie Ray of Copperas Cove, TX, Everett Cornell of Stone Mountain, GA, and Chaplain Reginald Fitzerald of Fort Jackson, SC; daughters, Shirley Jean Gatewood of Lonoke, Fatin Odoemenam of Little Rock, and Dorine Gatewood Smith of Lonoke; sister, Carrie Mae Terry of Chicago, IL; and 21 grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 11 at the New Jerusalem C.O.G.I.C in Lonoke. Services were entrusted to Premier Funeral Home in Little Rock.
Dortha Mae Harmon
Dortha Mae Harmon, 85, of Lonoke, died Feb. 11, 2006.
She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Cabot.
She is survived by her grandson,; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wed., Feb. 15, at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Cabot.
Interment will follow at Sumner Cemetery
in Cabot.
Arrangements were by Roller-Owens Funeral Home (791-7400).
Alice Marie Hensley
Alice Marie (Mower) Hensley, age 76, died Feb. 13, 2006. She is survived by sons, Troy Hensley and wife Frances of Beebe, Tom Hensley and wife Sharon of Hot Springs Village and Dan Hensley and wife Brenda of Mabelvale; brother James R. Mowrer of Austin; sister Dorothea Pearson of Lonoke; 6 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Mrs. Hensley was a charter member of New Testament Missionary Baptist Church in Lonoke.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16 at Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke with interment in Brownsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Lorene Henderson
Lorene Golleher Henderson, 85, of Carlisle, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2006. She was a former bank teller and homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Carlisle.
She is survived by a daughter, Charlotte Harris of Branson, Mo.; two sisters, Barbara Skipper of Ward and Ann Shipman of California; one brother, Ralph Golleher of Washington; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Feb. 14 at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen.
Graveside services were held Feb. 15 at Carlisle Cemetery
by Pastor David Lee.
Phyllis S. Williams
Phyllis Sue Heslep Stout Williams, 58, of Jacksonville, died Feb. 9, 2006.
She was co-owner of Stout’s Grocery and Hardware store in Jacksonville.
She helped co-found the North Pulaski Ball Park in the late 1970’s.
She is survived by her son, Robert Stout of Jacksonville; two grandchildren; sisters, Monelle Moody of Cabot, and Billy Jean Barton of Round Rock, TX.
Funeral service were held Feb. 13 at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Zion Hill Road, in Cabot.
Interment followed at Sumner Cemetery
in Cabot.

Kenneth D. Burnett
Kenneth “Kenny” Duane Burnett, age 44, of Searcy, died Feb. 3, 2006. Burnett was self-employed in the construction business and was a Baptist.
He is survived by four children: Tonya Burnett of Searcy, Mary Hardy of Centerville, Lisa Burnett of Searcy and Steven Burnett of Floral; one sister, Diana Grimes of McRae; three brothers: Robert Burnett, Donald Burnett, William “Bill” Burnett, all of Searcy; and three grandchildren: Damian, Jamie and Destiny.
Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 10, 2006 at Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Lebanon Cemetery
in McRae.
Cecile Watkins
Cecile Yvonne Parker Watkins, 66, of Sherwood, died Feb. 8, 2006.
She retired from USAble/BCBS after 25 years of service.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Ralph Watkins; children; Shannon Govar of Pulaski, TN, Rusty Watkins of Bryant, Beth Plafcan and Gigi White, both of Carlisle; sisters, Betty Moncrief of Lonoke, and Dot Temple of Sherwood; brother, Donald Parker of Wynne; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

William Doyle Byard, Sr., 69, of North Little Rock, died Feb. 6, 2006.
He is survived by his wife, Ida Mae Byard; mother, Era Ross of Conway; children, Sheila Dye of Conway, William D. Byard, Jr., Rebecca Lynn Webb, both of North Little Rock, and Pamela J. Shireman of Jacksonville; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Billy Ray Byard of Vermont; half brothers, David Byard of Oklahoma and Wayne Byard of Memphis, TN; sisters, Helen Waymack of Cabot and Betty Napier of Hugo, OK; half sisters, Fay Byard of Memphis, and Debbie Westerlund of Conway, and stepmother, Alycone Byard of Memphis.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m., Fri., Feb. 10, at Sumner Cemetery. Arrangements were by North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170.
Johnnie Otis Evatt
Johnnie Otis Evatt, 75, of the Sardis community, died Feb. 13, 2006.
He retired from Pulaski County Road and Bridge Department as a supervisor after 30 years of service. He was an honorary member of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department and was a member of the Eagles Club.
Survivors include his sons, Johnnie Michael Evatt and Terry Wayne Evatt; daughter, Brenda Wilson; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wed., Feb. 15 at the Roller-Drummond Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Jones officiating.
Interment will be in Concord Cemetery
at Furlow.
Mary Lou Devenney
Mary Lou Devenney, 72, of Hope, died Feb. 12, 2006.
She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her son, Frank DeVenney; daughter, Pat Beaver both of Hope; mother, Cletis Baker of Prescott; sister, Debbie McDonald of Texarkana; grandchildren, Jason Downs of Cabot, Angle Camp of Hope, and Joey Downs of Nashville; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Wed., Feb. 15, at 10 a.m., in Hope.

Ethel Mitchell, 97, of Bakersfield, CA, died recently.
She is survived by her children, Erniece Billingsley of Bakersfield, CA, Ann Hinkle of Aubrey, Doanie Reveley of Cabot, Minnie Leonard of Walnut Creek, CA, Mary Lester of Phoenix, AZ, Delia Walker of Little Rock, Harold Mitchell of Scott, and Sue Legacy of Crossett; 23 grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Feb. 10 at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel.
