Carson

FORT SMITH -- Kathryn Jane Carson, 82, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Dec. 9, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and a Sunday school teacher for 40 years. She was a retired employee of St. Anne's Catholic School, the founder of the Band Parents Club of Northside High School Band and a member of the Firemen's Auxiliary.

Survivors include two daughters, Janean Saunders of Van Buren and Kitty Thompson of Jonesboro; one son, Jerry Carson of Fort Smith; four sisters, Molly Faulkner and Betty Stutts, both of Fort Smith, Virginia Miller of Morgantown, W.Va., and Louise Heinisch of Chicago; one brother, George McAlister of Fort Smith; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A.V. "Ochie" Carson and one son.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

Memorials may be made to the Gregory Kistler Treatment Center for Children, 3304 South "M", Fort Smith 72903 or Mountain View Methodist Church, 416 Short, Alma 72921.

Crumpton

CORNING -- Juanita Crumpton, 68, of Corning died Sunday, Dec. 9, in Beebe. She was a homemaker and a member of Corning Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Ted Crumpton of Beebe and Scott Crumpton of Paragould; three brothers, Jack House of Little Rock, J.W. House of Cabot and Glen House of McPherson, Kan.; one sister, Wanda Moon of Swifton; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Crumpton, and a son.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Corning Church of Christ, with Bill Cline officiating. Burial will follow at Strangers Home Cemetery in Alicia under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home of Corning.

Bill Ennis, Eddie Arnold, Kip Woods, David Taylor, Elmer Vannada and Donis Simpson will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will include C.J. White, Z.T. Crumpton, Bill Larson, Jewell Hall, Melvin Hanshaw, Jack House, Glen House, J.W. House, Landon Crumpton, Bryce Taylor and Ben Crumpton.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Fletcher

OSCEOLA -- Staley Fletcher, 73, of Osceola died Sunday, Dec. 9, at Regional Medical Center of NEA. Retired from the Coca Cola Bottling Company, he was a member of the Osceola First Baptist Church, a retired volunteer fireman, a former member of the Osceola Jaycees, an Army veteran, and was a purchasing agent for the City of Osceola.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia Bell Smith Fletcher of Osceola; three daughters, Sherry Delancy of Osceola, Karen Reese of Jonesboro and Cindy Baster of Midlothian, Va.; one brother, W.F. "Wish" Fletcher of Osceola; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Douglas Fletcher and Lottie Poole Fletcher, and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Osceola, with Dale Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Mississippi County Memorial Gardens at Osceola. Arrangements are being made by Wilson Funeral Home of Osceola.

Pallbearers will be Grover Meadows, Bud Delancy, Greg Delancy, Lee Atwill, Richard Atwill, Bob Hughes, Evan Delancy and Cody Hearyman.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Gambill

Elmer Eugene "Gene" Gambill, 79, of Jonesboro died Sunday, Dec. 9, at Rose Skill Care Nursing Center in Jonesboro. A lifelong resident of Jonesboro, he was retired from Riceland Foods after 32 years and a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. He was a World War II Army veteran and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

Survivors include two sons, Rick Gambill and Tom Gambill, both of Jonesboro; three sisters, Mary Goodman, Muriel Cox and Velda Watson, all of Jonesboro; four brothers, Frank Gambill, Earl Gambill, Johnny Gambill and Kenneth Gambill, all of Jonesboro; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Ellen Gambill, one daughter, two sisters, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Gregg Funeral Home chapel in Jonesboro, with the Rev. Elvis Brandon officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Larry Goodman, Ronnie Rains, Rex Gambill, Bruce Beck, Glen Gambill and Randy Watson.

Honorary pallbearers will include Dr. Danny Grubbs and the staff at Rose Skill Care Nursing Center.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Hamby

RAVENDEN -- Linda Hamby, 52, of Ravenden died Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Eastern Ozarks Regional Health System hospital in Cherokee Village. Born in Hammond, Ind., she was a retired apartment manager for Southmoore Apartments in Hammond. She attended the Bristol Assembly of God Church in Ravenden.

Survivors include her husband, Burnett Hamby of Ravenden; one son, Burnett Hamby Jr. of Hammond; Deon Podgorski of Hammond; one sister, Jackie Hayman of Spencer, Ind.; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Burns-Kish Funeral Home in Hammond. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland.

Nielsen

CHEROKEE VILLAGE -- A memorial service for Lillian Ann Nielsen, 90, who died Sunday, Dec. 9, at Eastern Ozarks Regional Health Systems in Cherokee Village, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church in Cherokee Village. The Rev. Brian Pummill will officiate.

Born in Grundy County, Iowa, she moved to Cherokee Village 30 years ago from Dike, Iowa. She was a retired school teacher and was a member of the Danish Sisterhood and Peace Lutheran Church in Cherokee Village, where she was a Sunday School teacher, a Bible school teacher, a prayer chain leader and participated in the choir.

Survivors include a son, Andrew L. Nielsen of Greeley, Colo.; a daughter, Jean L. Meyer of Glendale, Ariz.; a brother, Hilbert Haack of Forreston, Ill.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis C. Nielsen.

Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland is in charge of arrangements.

Orr

PARAGOULD -- Houston Bresee Orr, 73, of Paragould died Sunday, Dec. 9, in Paragould. Born in Beech Grove, he was the owner of Oak Grove and Rector Lumber Company and was a farmer. He was a past president of the Civitan Club, was a member of the Oak Grove School Board and the Saddle Club and was a volunteer for the Oak Grove Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Gladish Orr of the home; a daughter, Linda Crook of North Little Rock; a son, Houston "Bill" Orr of Paragould; five sisters, Amanda Janis Woolverton, Edith Pierce, Jeanne Baumbach, Peggy Bertolin and Virginia Faye Welfer; a brother, Connie Orr; and five grandchildren, Tracy Lynn Higgins, Jack Houston Newton, Suzanne Newton, Holly Orr and William Orr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Oak Grove Church of Christ, with Herbert Starr officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Perry

Juanita K. Perry, 80, of Jonesboro died Sunday, Dec. 9, at Regional Medical Center of NEA. Born at Cash, she was formerly of Detroit, Mich., where she had worked for General Motors. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Star Olive Chapter No. 147.

Survivors include one son, Ron Johnson of Jonesboro; one sister, Agnes Johnson of Searcy; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Emerson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Jolly officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Ronald S. Johnson, Michael Johnson, Bill Covey, Larry Ingram, Richard Ingram and Gary Ingram.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Scaggs, Ronald Ingram, William Ingram, Sharon Andrews, Rhonda Covey, Renee Cosby and the staff of the St. Bernard's Hospice program.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Richardson

HARDY -- Hubert Richardson, 77, of Hardy died Monday, Dec. 10, at his home. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Higginbotham Funeral Service in Walnut Ridge.

Runsick

EVENING SHADE -- Hershel T. Runsick, 85, of Evening Shade died Sunday, Dec. 9, at White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born near Poughkeepsie, had worked as a farmer and was a member of Powell's Chapel United Methodist Church in Poughkeepsie.

Survivors include a son, Ray Runsick of Evening Shade; a daughter, Carolyn Gray of Coppell, Texas; a sister, Violet Provence of Tuckerman; two grandchildren, Melissa Andrea and Jeff Gray, both of Grapevine, Texas; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Runsick, a son, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Powell's Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Alan Meinzer officiating. Burial will follow in Powell's Chapel Cemetery at Poughkeepsie under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

Active pallbearers will be Bryan Kimmer, Larry Snuffer, Jeff Gray, Mike Higginbotham, Gary Andrea and Bob Gray.

Honorary pallbearers include Paschal Spurlock, LeRoy Johnson, Harold Hutchison and Willie Gene Oyler.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
