Little

CHERRY VALLEY -- Russell Glenn "Russ" Little, 71, of Cherry Valley, died Wednesday at St. Bernard's Medical Center. He was an Army veteran, having served in both World War II and the Korean War. He was a former resident of Gary, Ind., and Batesville before moving to Cherry Valley.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Faye Huey Little of Cherry Valley; three sons, Robert Little of Claridge, Pa., Richard O'Brien of Irwin, Pa., and James Woolbright of Cherry Valley; four daughters, Sherry Svesnik of Irwin, Rhonda Reynolds of Westmoreland City, Pa., Patricia Long of Orlando, Fla., and Dana Brammer of Wesley; one brother, Bernard Little of the Pleasant Valley community near Wynne; one sister, Mary Jean Ramos; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in Wynne, with the Rev. John Threat officiating. Burial will be in Crosslawn Cemetery at Wynne.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Disabled Veterans Association.

Mrs. Smith

HARRISBURG -- Mrs. Laura D. Smith, 57, of 430 May Circle, Harrisburg, died Wednesday at Regional Medical Center of NEA in Jonesboro. Born in Poinsett County, she was a longtime resident of the Harrisburg and Trumann areas. She was a homemaker and of the Church of Christ belief.

Survivors include her husband, Roger Smith of the home; one son, James Hugh Snider of Troutdale, Ore.; two sisters, Janis Ashlock and Judy Vaughn, both of Gainsville, Texas; and two brothers, James Evans Sr. and Elmer Lynn Evans, both of Trumann.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Fredrick and Cora Bell Shaw Evans, and a sister.

Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Pine Log Cemetery near Brookland, under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Wilson, Billy Graham, Wayne Roach and James Evans Jr.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

McCoy

GRANITE CITY, Ill. -- Loyd Randall "Joe" McCoy, 57, died Tuesday at his home. Born at Rector, he was employed by Alco Control Division of Emerson Electric in Illinois, and was a member of the Teamsters Local 525, Alton, Ill., the International Association of Machinists Local 1315, the East Side R/C Club and the National Academy of Model Aeronautics. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Freer Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara James McCoy of the home; one daughter, Yolanda Pearman of Granite City; one son, Joseph McCoy of the home; three sisters, Linda Stevens, Sandra Vaughn and Karen Baukus, all of Trumann; one brother, Kenneth Craig McCoy of Wynne; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Bob Kinnett officiating. The body will be cremated.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Stahly

CAVE CITY -- Jean Stahly, 81, of Cave City, died Friday at the Cave City Nursing Home. Born at Newport, she was a homemaker and a member of the Cave City Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd Stahly of the home; a son, Ronald G. Stahly of Cave City; two daughters, Ella Newton of Searcy and Sharon Everett of Raleigh, N.C.; a sister Opal Butler of Minneapolis, Minn.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, a brother and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Cave City Church of Christ, with Dean Fugett officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery at Newport under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

Taylor

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica -- William Minor Taylor, Jr., 69, of Montego Bay, Jamaica, died Friday at Jacksonville Beach, Fla. He was a graduate of the Tennessee military Institute, the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and formerly lived in Osceola.

Survivors include his wife, Zerlenne Taylor of Montego Bay, Jamaica; two sons, Michael Taylor of Memphis and Minor Taylor of Montego Bay, Jamaica; one sister, Ruth Fortenberry of Arlington, Texas; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the chapel of Roller-Swift Funeral Home in Osceola, with the Rev. Allen Rainey officiating. Burial will follow in Mississippi County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Smith

Leota Smith, 82, of Jonesboro, died Saturday at the Rose Skill Care Nursing Home in Jonesboro. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church in Jonesboro.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Smith of Jonesboro; two daughters, Margie Luster of Jonesboro and Sarah Green of Little Rock; two sons, Harold M. Smith Jr. of Oakland, Tenn. and Jim R. Smith of San Angelo, Texas; three sisters, Pat Irwin of Yorba Linda, Calif., Mary Lou Cloud of Coronado, Calif. and Sue Lloyd of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, Ray Swanagon of Santa Maria, Calif. and Bob Swanagon of Lawton, Okla.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Langford's Funeral Service chapel in Jonesboro, with Rev. Bruce Tippit officiating. Burial will follow in City Cemetery at Jonesboro.

Active pallbearers will be Bryan Green, Sam Luster, Charles Luster, Mintons Smith, Don Green and Homer Smith Jr.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday.

Lasting memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Care Center, 200 W. Matthews, Jonesboro.

Van Hoozer

WALNUT RIDGE -- William F. "Bill" Van Hoozer, 86, of Walnut Ridge died Saturday at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center. Born at Harrisburg, he was a retired construction worker who moved to Walnut Ridge in 1957, moved to Pocahontas in 1983 and returned to Walnut Ridge in 2000.

He is survived by one daughter, Barbara Simmons of Jonesboro; and two sons, James Van Hoozer and Melton Van Hoozer, both of Hoxie; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Watts Van Hoozer, by one brother and one grandson.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the chapel of House-Gregg Funeral Home at Walnut Ridge, with Bill Gray and Ted Shields officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrence Memorial Park at Walnut Ridge.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Little

HICKORY RIDGE -- Delbert E. Little, 76, of Hickory Ridge, died Friday at his home. Born at Morton, he was a retired farmer, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Hickory Ridge Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Lyda Little of Hickory Ridge; two daughters, Debbie Stokes and Myra Freese, both of Hickory Ridge; three brothers, Everett Little of Morton, Earl Little of Wynne and Leon Little of Beedeville; one sister, Catherine Ramirez of Mesa, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hickory Ridge Church of Christ, with Chuck Ball and Tim Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Woodman Cemetery at McCrory.

Pallbearers will be J.B. Vanaman, Doyle Ford, Bennie Joe Breckenridge, Stanley Harrison, Bryce Smith, Lawrence Sanders, Carl Phipps and Gerald Slocum.

Visitation is from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. today at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home.

Shepherd

PARAGOULD -- Michael Dean Shepherd, 50, of Paragould, died Friday at his home. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, was a pharmaceutical distributor and was a Methodist.

Survivors include his wife, Ranae Shepherd of the home; one son, Jay Michael Shepherd of the home; his father and stepmother, John B. and Margaret Shepherd of Russellville. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Hughes Shepherd and by one brother.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould, with Everett Isom officiating. Burial will be private.

Memorials may be made to St. Bernard's Medical Center Memorial Hospice Fund.

Baeten

BENTON -- Rani LeAnn Wood Baeten, 33, of Benton, died Thursday at her home. She was a graduate of McCrory High School, was a former member of the United Methodist Church at McCrory and was a professional dog groomer.

Survivors include one daughter, Brennah Renae Baeten of Benton; her father, Edward B. Wood of McCrory; her step-mother, Ann Wood of McCrory; one brother, Barry Wood of Jonesboro; and her maternal grandmother, Dorothy Jennings of Augusta.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the chapel of Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stephen Waggoner officiating. Burial will follow in Fakes Cemetery at McCrory.

Pallbearers will be Jim Stafford, Toby Stafford, H.A. Griffin, Donnie Lindsey, Leon Creasy and Phillip Norton.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lasting memorials may be made to the Woodruff County Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
