Jennie Boggan Godair

Jennie A. Boggan Godair (MaMaw) went to be with the Lord Sept. 24, 2002.
She was born in Griffithville, Ark., Sept. 7, 1908. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Louie L. Godair; her parents, Andrew and Callie Boggan; three brothers, Clair Boggan, Ted Boggan and Paul Boggan; one sister, Cordie Moore; two daughters, Lois Lane and Joyce Colclasure; and one son, A.B. Godair.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Gordon G. and Marion Godair of Boyce, La., Homer C. and Jean Godair of Snyder, Texas, and Truman A. and Alpha Godair of Carlisle; a daughter, Carol Clements of Houston, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Myrtle Owens of Mira Loma, Calif., and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was a member of the Full Gospel Mission Church and was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be loved and missed by all.
Services were at 2 p.m., Friday, at the Full Gospel Mission Church, with interment in Welcome Home Cemetery, Des Arc, with arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.

Memorials may be made to Welcome Home Cemetery or Full Gospel Mission Church.

Margaret L. Bonner

Margaret L. Bonner, 93, of Lakewood, Wash., died Sept. 24, 2002.
She formerly lived in Lonoke and Ward.

Survivors include a son, Johnny Bonner of Spanaway, Wash.; two granddaughters; and a brother, Frank Stewart Jr. of Houston.

Funeral was Saturday in Keever Chapel, Ennis, Texas, with interment in Myrtle Cemetery.

Jimmy D. Scroggins

Jimmy Dale Scroggins, 51, of Jacksonville died Sept. 26, 2002.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville. He worked for the Pulaski County School District for 18 years.

Survivors include his wife, Jerri Scroggins; sons, Jimmy Wade Scroggins and Eddie Scroggins; a daughter, Christy Lynnette Parente; sisters, Nina Waller, Joyce Scroggins, Fredia Graham and Debbie Morphis; four grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Funeral was Sept. 30 at Griffin-Leggett-Rest Hills Chapel, with burial in Arkansas State Veteran’s Cemetery, North Little Rock.

Ray J. Langford

Ray J. Langford, 75, of Jacksonville died Sept. 26, 2002.

He was born in Lonoke County, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville. He served in the Navy from 1945-46, and retired from the V.A. hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Lottie Nailling Langford; a stepson, David Dennie of Corpus Christi, Texas; a stepdaughter, Ruth Ketchum of Heber Springs; a sister, Bea Ray of Brinkley; and four step-grandchildren.

Funeral was Monday at Huson Funeral Home Chapel, Sherwood, with interment in Hebron Cemetery in Lonoke County.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 401 N. First St., Jacksonville, or Arkansas Hospice, 2200 Ft. Roots Dr., Bldg. 66, Rm. 65, North Little Rock 72114.

Richard Jackson

Funeral services for Richard Adophus Jackson, 62, were Friday, Oct. 4, at Gospel Temple Baptist Church, 2420 Wolfe Street, Little Rock. Service entrusted to Gunn Funeral Home.

He is survived by one sister, Mary Alice Bell of Little Rock; three brothers, Rogers Jackson and John Wesley Jackson of Detroit, Mich., Rodney Jackson of Cabot.

Helen G. Sweaney

Helen Gertrude Sweaney, age 79, of Cabot, formerly of Memphis, Tenn. passed away Sept. 30, 2002.

She was born June 15, 1923 in Marion, Ill. To the late Kinsey and Vernie Hendrix. She was a member of the Raleigh Methodist Church in Memphis.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, A.K., Paul and Dillard; two sisters, Ruth and Irene.

Survivors include her loving husband of 61 years, Al Sweaney of Cabot; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Bobby Walton of Cabot; two grandsons, Chris Walton of Little Rock and Jason Walton of Alexandria, Va.; and one great-granddaughter, Abby Elisabeth Walton of Little Rock.

Services were held Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Cabot Funeral Chapel. Interment, Old Austin Cemetery. Arrangements were by Cabot Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made in Helen’s name to Alzheimer’s Arkansas, 10411 W. Markham, Suite 130, Little Rock, AR 72205.

John H. Maness

John H. Maness, 65, of North Little Rock died Sept. 27, 2002.

He was a retired driver from Pat Salmons & Sons.

He is survived by three children, Johnnie Maness of Scott, Randy Maness of Cabot, Denise Simons of Nashville, Tenn.; six grandchildren; and a sister, Frankie Brand of Bryant.

Funeral services were Tuesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel.

Talmadge Davis

Talmadge “Tal” Davis, 62, of North Little Rock, died Sept. 23, 2002.

He was a retired installer with Sears.

Survivors include his son, Britt Davis of Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Kimberly Davis of Kentucky and Charlotte Valentine of Cabot; five grandchildren; two brothers, William Davis of North Little Rock and Travis Davis of Cabot; one sister, Carolyn Kariker of North Little Rock.

Funeral services were Wednesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.

Constance Gross

Constance “Connie” Mary Garth-Gross, age 58, of Cabot, passed away October 7, 2002. She was born July 22, 1944 in Waltham, Massachusetts to the late George C. & Margaret M. Codyer-Garth.

Also preceded in death by her husband Gene L. Gross, September 28, 1994.
Connie was employed by Arkansas Association of Rehabilitation Support (ARS) agency of RIDAC - Rehabilitation Initial Diagnosis & Assessment of Clients. An active member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Tri-County Art & Craft Guild, The CAN DO Cancer Support Group, St. Jude’s Alter & Rosary, Arkansas Assoc. Of Rehabilitation Support Staff (ARS), and the Russian Missions at St. Jude’s.

Survivors include one brother, Peter C. Garth of Great Falls, Montana; two sisters, Virginia Garth-Northrop of Tampa, Florida & Frances Garth-Lovell of Black Diamond, Washington; one step-son, James Gross of Cincinnati, Ohio. Several nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones.

Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2002 at Cabot Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2002 at St. Jude’s Catholic Church Jacksonville, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials to one of the following charities: The Arlene Cherry Memorial Library in Cabot, St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Can Do Cancer Support Group at 1st Baptist Church in Cabot, and the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.

Robert Joel Teague

Robert Joel Teague, age 62, of Garland, Texas, passed away suddenly on October 7, 2002. He was born February, 26, 1940 to the late Autrey Wilson & Nancy Fisk Teague in Brownwood, Texas.

Also preceded in death by one brother Michael Teague.

Robert worked as a sales rep for Tyco International after retiring from 35 years of service with GTE. He served his country in the United States Army Reserves for several years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Garland, Texas, AMBUCS, Texas Telephone Engineers Society, and former president of TESS ( Texas Excavation Safety Systems).

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Mary Ann Caldwell Teague; two daughters, Alicia Ann Arnold and husband David of Irving, Texas, and Beverly Lynn Teague of Dallas, Texas; one granddaughter, Lesa Arnold of Irving, Texas; one brother, Jack Teague (JoAnn) of Brownwood, Texas; two sisters, Linda Wise (Jim) of Birmingham, Alabama, and Marsha Tart (Jim) of San Antonio, Texas.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2002 with the family receiving friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2002 at Cabot Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.

Nellie Mae Granger

Nellie Mae Granger, age 73, died Oct. 1, 2002.

She is survived by three children, Kenneth Granger of Damascus, Carla Cummings of Pine Bluff, Julia Bethea of Maumelle; two brothers, Harl Aldridge of Winchester and Charles Aldridge of Wilmot; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were Thursday at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel in Lonoke with interment at Lonoke Cemetery.
