Sharon Kay Cotton
Sharon Kay Cotton, age 36, of Cabot, owner of Grand Central Styling, passed away Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002.
She was born Nov. 19, 1965, at Vandenburg Air Force Base in Lompoc, Calif., to Shirley Marshall Delcher of Cabot, and the late Ted Delcher.
Other survivors include a sister, Sonia Sexton; one very, very special friend, Doug Eder; one niece, Erika Sexton and two nephews, Aaron Henry and Bradley Gorbet all of Cabot.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at Cabot Funeral Chapel. Interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Cabot, Ark. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.
Otis Dean Pruitt
Otis Dean Pruitt, age 79, of Cabot, passed away Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002.
Born Dec. 14, 1922, in Greenville, S.C., to the late Blane and Lola Tims Pruitt.
Preceded in death by first wife Gladys Rozell Pruitt, son, Otis Dean Pruitt Jr., two sisters, and four brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Ruby A. Pruitt of the home, three sons: William, Michael, and James Pruitt all of Cabot; two daughters: Sandra Mahoney of Jacksonville, and Margie A. Goforth of Cabot; brother, Robert Pruitt of Inmon, S.C.; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; seven stepchildren, 17 step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grand-children.
Services were Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at First Trinity Free Pentecostal Church with the Rev. R.E. Reeves officiating. Interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Cabot, Arkansas. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.
Frances Ezell
Frances Ezell, 68, of Corning died Sunday.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Ezell, Bernie, Mo., Wayne Ezell of Cabot; and one daughter, Sandy Anders of Corning; and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday at Ermert Funeral Home Chapel in Corning. Interment was in the Corning Cemetery.
Donna Hughen Hill
Donna Hughen Hill, former mayor of Holly Grove, died Sept. 15. She was 89 years old.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Hill; son-in-law, Jerry Goings; and great-grandson, Kevin Hudson.
Survivors are daughter, Julia Hudson and husband, Bob Pickens, Sue Goings of Helena; and son, Holbert Hill and wife, Sue, of Cabot; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
She was a Methodist, a member of DAR, a Rotarian, a member of the Holly Grove Women’s Club, UMW and a former City Councilman.
Services will be held at the Holly Grove Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband of 43 years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Holly Grove Methodist Church or Macedonia Cemetery
Fund, in care of Bank of Holly Grove.
Forrest Edward Wise
Forrest Edward Wise, 84, of Newport, died Sunday.
He was a salesman for Swift and Company until joining the United States Navy to serve during World War II. He served in both the Pacific and the North Atlantic Theatres. Afterward, he owned one of the first frozen food plants in Eastern Ark. In 1953, he became the general manager of the Varazini Furniture Company in Newport. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church where he served on the vestry in several capacities. As a member of the Rotary Club, he was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. He also served on the city council and on the board of First National Bank, now Union Planters Bank. Active in the state Chamber of Commerce, he served on the board and various committees.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Martha (Newsom) Wise, one daughter, Susan Wise Simmons of Germantown, Tenn.; one grandson; two sisters, Mary Wise Watson of Mesa, Ariz., and Martha Jane Wise of Cabot.
Graveside services were Tuesday at Walnut Grove Cemetery
with arrangements by Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.
Pauline F. Moran
Pauline F. Moran, age 77, of Little Rock, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002.
She was retired from Westinghouse and was a Baptist.
Funeral was Sept. 16, at Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Austin.
Mary Lee Campbell
Mary Lee Campbell, 61, of El Paso died Sept. 15, 2002.
Survivors are her children, Royce Eugene Campbell of Corona, Calif., Anthony Wayne Campbell, Sharon Kay Campbell and Ronald Gene Campbell, all of El Paso; three grandchildren; her mother, Annie Marie Taylor of Beebe; siblings, Pauline Bass of Beebe, Chester Tozer of McRae, Lester Tozer of Garner, James Tozer of Cabot, Everett Tozer of Austin and Linda Walker of Beebe.
Funeral was Sept. 18 at Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Antioch Cemetery, Beebe.
Thomas J. Doran
Thomas J. Doran, 73, of Barling, formerly of Cabot, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002.
He was an Army veteranof the Korean Conflict, an automobile mechanic and a licensed electrician.
Graveside service was Sept. 16 at U.S. National Cemetery, Fort Smith, by Rowell-Parish Mortuary, Fort Smith.
Survivors are three sisters, Gaggie Rice and Mary Turner, both of Fort Smith, and Rose Carns of St. Charles, Ill.; brothers, Paul Doran of Bartlesville, Okla., Gaylon Doran of Hutchinson, Kan., and Kirgus Doran of Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Ona Reba New
Ona Reba New of North Little Rock, died Sept. 16, 2002, at the age of 88.
She was a retired seamstress for Ottheimers & Tuffnut Clothing and a member of Lynchview Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Tomlinson of Lonoke; brothers, Bill Odom of Lonoke and Randall Odom of Cabot; sisters, Syble Larkan of DeValls Bluff and Shelby Hardin of England; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral service was held Thursday, Sept. 19, at Griffin-Leggett-Rest Hills Chapel. Interment followed at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
Memorials be made to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital, 800 Marshall St., Little Rock, Ark.
Ethel Mince
Ethel Mince, age 80, of North Little Rock, formerly of Hazen, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002.
She was a resident of Robinson Health Care and retired from VanHeusen.
She is survived by two daughters, Wanda Scott of Little Rock and Marilynn Borecky of White Hall; four sisters, Mabel Noble of Little Rock, Nadine Brotherton of Cabot, Harriet Harris of Biscoe, and Dorothy Bridgeman of Oakland, Calif.; one brother, Raymond Prine, Hazen; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Sept. 20, at the Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Hazen. Interment was in the Hazen Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice or the Hazen Cemetery.
Nona Cagle Kinder
Nona Cagle Kinder, age 95, of Russellville (Caglesville Community) died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
A daughter of the late Mace and Mary Inez Gray Cagle, she was born Oct. 1, 1906 at Caglesville. She was the widow of Rev. J.D. (Dewey) Kinder. She was a member of Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church and most recently attended the Caglesville Community Church.
She was preceded in death by an infant son; a brother, Fay Cagle; a sister, Myrtle Cooper; a grandson, Carrol Don Hays; and a great-grandson, Brian Steven Richter.
Survivors include two daughters, Dortha Kinslow and Virginia L. Hays, both of Atkins; a brother, Roger Cagle of Russellville; a sister, Lona Hemmer of Russellville; seven grandchildren, Jo Ann Hill of Hector, Kay Richter of Russellville, Bobbye Austin of Milan, Tenn., Dwight (Butch) Hays of Atkins, Burl Lee Hays of Cabot, Charlotte Harper of Russellville and Pamela Pruitt of Hector; 20 great-grandchildren; 39 great-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Thursday, Sept. 19, at Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church, with Rev. Sam Austin and Rev. Jimmy Lee Chronister officiating. Burial was in Shiloh Cemetery, north of Atkins, by Shinn Funeral Service.
Pallbearers were grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church or the Caglesville Community Church.
