Mrs. Hemler

Mrs. Edna Lee Scull Hemler, 80, Carlsbad, N.M., died Saturday at her residence. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include one daughter, Wanda Jolly Richardson of Germantown, Tenn.; one son, Richard Eugene Jolly of Jacksonville, Fla.; five sisters, Luella Godwin of Dyess, Imogene Rule of Carlsbad and Leona Griffin, Nora Faye Pitts and Norma Jo Day, all of Marked Tree; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Helmer, three sisters and three brothers.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon at Marked Tree Cemetery, with the Rev. Dennis Neenan officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening and from 9 to 11 Wednesday morning at Murphy Funeral Home.

The family requests memorials be made to Wesley Senior Ministries Foundation, 400 S. Highland St., Memphis, Tenn.

Mrs. Brinkman

Mrs. Cindy Kern Brinkman, 40, of Taylors, S.C., died Sunday at her home. Born in Jonesboro, she was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic minister and a member of the choir.

Survivors include her husband, Mark F. Brinkman of the home; her parents, Robert and Thelma Kern of Jonesboro; a sister, Ruth K. Partlow of Columbia, S.C.; and a brother, John Kern of Jonesboro.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert O. Kern.

A memorial mass will be held at 10 this morning at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Taylors.

The body was cremated. Thomas McAfee Funeral Home in Greenville, S.C., was in charge of arrangements.

The family requests that persons wishing to leave lasting memorials consider the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society.

Mrs. Sawyer

Mrs. Dorothy A. Sawyer, 74, of Mountain Home, died Wednesday at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home. Born in Jonesboro, she was formerly of West Memphis and had worked as a nurse at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mountain Home.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Survivors include her husband, James A. Sawyer of the home; two sons, Joseph C. Sawyer of Gathersburg, Md., and Guy S. Sawyer of Oakland, Tenn.; two daughters, Katherine Baddour of Townsend, Tenn., and Carol Percifull of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Rev. Ed Tull of Roanoke, Va.; a sister, Martha Carr of Kansas City, Mo.; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 Sunday afternoon at Roller Funeral Home chapel in Mountain Home with Revs. David Johnson and Leroy Stringfield officiating. Burial followed at Baxter Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mountain Home.

Active pallbearers included Marion Billingslay, Sidney Potter, Harold Sturgeon, Wade Armes, John Dillard and James Sommer.

The family requests that persons wishing to leave lasting memorials consider the American Cancer Society, Hospice of the Ozarks or Central Arkansas Radiation Therapy Institute at Mountain Home.

Garner

Exer Garner, 87, of Osecola, died Monday at Osceola. Born in Mississippi, he was a member of First Baptist Church in Osceola.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Anna Mae Garner of Osceola; two daughters, Betty Smuda of Locust, N.J., and Sharon Garner of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services have been scheduled Wednesday afternoon at 2 at the Roller-Swift Funeral Home in Osceola, with Ken Pruett officiating. Burial will follow at Mississippi County Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Osceola.

Mrs. Johnson

Mrs. Fannie Johnson of Yuba City, Calif., died Thursday at her home. A former Jonesboro resident, she worked as a home health care giver for private patients in northern California.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include a son, Jessie Earles of Washington state; three daughters, Elva Plantz, Jane Sutterfield and Jo Nordman, all of California; a sister, Eva Underwood of Jonesboro; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery near Jonesboro on Saturday. The Neptune Society of Northern California was in charge of cremation.

Mrs. Hall

Mrs. Ruth Erelyn Hall, 66, of Delaplaine, died Friday at Randolph County Nursing Home in Pocahontas. She was a homemaker.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.

Mrs. Cornish

Mrs. Fay Cornish, 84, of Monette, died Thursday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Brown

James Howard Brown, 46, of Jonesboro died Friday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Garrett

Funeral services for Earnest L. Garrett, 65, of Brookland, who died Thursday evening at his home, will be held this afternoon at 2 in the chapel of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro, with Matt Smith and Tony Waller officiating. Burial will be in Pine Log Cemetery near Brookland.

Pallbearers will be Jack Richardson, Dale Miller, Lee Lovis, John Garrett, Andy Mooneyhan and Brandon Fender.

The family has asked that persons wishing to leave a lasting memorial consider Pine Log Cemetery.

Sims

Thebert Sims, 91, of Monette, died Friday afternoon at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould. He spent most of his life in the Monette area. He was a retired farmer and affiliated with the Monette Assembly of God.

Survivors include his wife, Corvil Sims of the home.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 in the chapel of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette, with Rev. Carl Blankenship officiating. Burial will be in the Woods Chapel Cemetery.

Nephews and Bob Peel will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 this evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sitzman

Mrs. Thelma V. Sitzman, 83, of Horseshoe Bend, died Friday at Ash Flat Nursing Home.

Survivors include her husband, William Sitzman; a son, Robert Olson of Melbourne; and two sisters, Margaret Sindin of St. Paul, Minn., and Clarice Benson of Minneapolis, Minn. She was preceded in death by a brother.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 9 Monday morning at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Horseshoe Bend. Burial will follow in Violet Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel.

No visitation has been planned.

Mrs. Winchester

Mrs. Gladys Loraine Winchester, 78, of Bay, died Thursday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Grenada, Minn., she was a homemaker and a Missionary Baptist. Formerly of Piggott, she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Bloomfield, Mo.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Winchester of Bay and James Winchester of Kansas; three brothers, Harold Hubbard of Norwalk, Iowa, David Hubbard of Davenport, Iowa, and Melvin Hubbard of Worth, Mo.; two sisters, Velma Bradford and Faye Kearney, both of Dallas Center, Iowa; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and a sister.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 Sunday afternoon at the Irby Funeral Home chapel in Rector, with Roy Brady officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Heights Cemetery at Rector.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Winchester, Terry Martin, Kahlon May, Paul Tanner, Troy Redman and Darwin Kearney.
