David L. Long
David L. Long, 69, of Beebe, Arkansas, was born April 6, 1934, at Memphis, Tennessee, to A.C. and Flora Long, and he died September 29, 2003. He was retired from Mopac & Union Pacific and a member of UTU Local 656. He is survived by his wife, Leona Long; five daughters, Debbie Brannon of Beebe, Christi Blake of Sherwood, Sylvia Joslin and life-mate, Glen Reavis of McRae, Geri Dozler of Cabot, Shelly Queen and husband, Dewayne of Clarendon; one brother, Robert Long and wife, Doris of Call, Texas; a sister, Alice Ann Elms, Little Rock; fifteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and sons by heart, Jeff Fisher of Beebe and Gary Long of Conway. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Services will be held at 10 a.m.. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at Westbrook Chapel with burial at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Beebe.
Billy Houston Carter
Billy Houston Carter, 62, of Cabot, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003. He was a U.S. Army veteran and member of Calvary Baptist Church in North Little Rock.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Dee Stevenson Carter of Cabot; one daughter, Karen Sue Carter Kampfer, of Corpus Christie, Texas; three sons, David Houston Carter, Richard Anthony Carter, and Donavan Wayne Carter, all of Cabot; and four grandchildren.
Burial will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 8 at Calvary Baptist Church in North Little Rock, with burial in Arkansas Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home of Blytheville.
John W. Jameson
John W. Jameson, 65, of Cabot, died Oct. 1, 2003.
Survivors include his wife, Lueweda “Lou” Jameson; one daughter, Sandy Yarboro; one grandson; one sister and four brothers.
He attended Sherwood Bible Church and was retired from Lift Truck Service Center.
A celebration of his life was held Saturday, Oct. 4, with interment in Rest Hills Memorial Park.
Hazel K. Wasson
Hazel K. Wasson, 84, of North Little Rock died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003.
She is survived by her daughters, Marsha Henderson of Cabot, Rebecca James of Sherwood and Sandra Brower of Kennesaw, Ga.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Levy United Methodist Church, where funeral services were held Monday.
Entombment was at Edgewood Memorial Park. Huson Funeral Home in Sherwood was in charge.

Clifford Lee Church
Clifford Lee Church, age 40, of Cabot, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003.
Survivors include his wife, Karen; children, Stephanie and Christopher Church of Cabot; brother, Larry Church of North Little Rock, sisters, Marlene Stewart of Florida and Linda Robertson of Cabot.

Paulene Whenrey, 88, North Little Rock, died Oct. 4, 2003.
Survivors: her son, Sherman Olive, Lonoke; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Erma Lee Guinn
Erma Lee Guinn, age 74, of Springfield, died Sept. 30, 2003.
She was a home health aide, and of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include her son, Stanley Ray Guinn of Cabot; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, Oct. 3, at Harris Chapel with burial at Kilgore Cemetery
by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Frances Ann Matheny
Frances Ann Matheny, 45, Cabot, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003.
Survivors are her husband, David Matheny; two sons, Mark and Michael Matheny of Cabot; daughter, Mary Matheny of Cabot; brother, Eugene Nova of Rockport, Texas and sister, Betty Coon of Rockport, Texas.
Funeral service was at 2 pm Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003 at Westbrook Chapel with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by Westbrook Funeral Home of Beebe.
Joseph Hakos
Joseph Hakos, 90, of Jacksonville died Wednesday, October 8, 2003. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Hakos of the home; 4 sons, Jim McIntyre of Bryant, Earl McIntyre of Jacksonville, Calvin McIntyre of Cabot, and Gordon McIntyre of Alexander; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Edwin F. Hinshaw
Edwin F. Hinshaw, 62, of Cabot died Wednesday, October 8, 2003. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Hinshaw. He is survived by his wife, Joy Hinshaw; son, Robert (and Lisa) Hinshaw; daughter Krista (and Lynn) Hazeslip, all of Cabot; mother, Marge Roccaro; father-in-law, Alfred Limb; 2 sisters Linda Martinez and Jeri McKenzie; 1 brother, Tony Roccaro, all of WY; and 5 grandchildren. He will be missed by many family members, neighbors and friends.

Herbert D. Boatman
Herbert Derlon Boatman, 59, of Kiowa, Okla., died Oct. 9, 2003. He was a retired electrician and a Baptist.
He is survived by one son, Tony Derlon Boatman of Kiowa, Okla.; two daughters, Glenda Mitchell of Fort Worth, Texas and Tabatha Lynch of Norman, Okla.; one brother, Luke Boatman, of Texarkana; three sisters, Jackie Crow of Moreland, Floella Overton of Clifton, Texas, and Glenda Bettis of Lonoke; and five grandsons.
Funeral was Sunday, Oct. 12, at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe, with burial at Grissard Cemetery, El Paso.
Faber A. Byrd
Faber A. Byrd, 96, of Austin, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003. He was a Baptist and a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife Mary Byrd; two daughters, Bobbie Elliot of Texas and Nell Joyner of Jacksonville; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter, both of South Carolina; one sister, Maxine Moeller of Texas.
Graveside service was conducted by Rev. Tim Carter Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Cabot.
Audrey Calvert
Audrey Calvert, 70, of Carlisle went to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 7. She was born March 24, 1933 on the banks of Bayou Meto in the Hamilton Community, where she raised her family and farmed with her husband for 30 years. After farming, she owned and operated Calvert’s Shirt Shop in Carlisle and was a manager of Jr. Food Mart in Carlisle and Lonoke. After moving to Carlisle, she most recently had been a personal caregiver. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elzy and Myrtle Weaver.
Audrey was a former President of the Carlisle PTA and the Carlisle Band Boosters. She had been a dedicated room mother while her children were in school and had been a local “Poster Lady” for the American Heart Association. She was a lifetime member of the Carlisle Alumni Association. Audrey was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, David B. Calvert, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, David E. and Jean Calvert of Stuttgart, Carroll and Linda Calvert of Carlisle, and Mike and Kay Calvert of Cabot; daughter and son-in-law Kim and Sean Culpepper of Carlisle; one brother, Tommy Weaver of Taft, California; six sisters, Robbie Horton of Mayflower, Vonda Swann, Pat McDaniel, Sharon Hasty, Penny Brennan and Donna Cowling, all of Wasco, California; grandchildren, David A. and Joey Calvert, Dustin and Blake Calvert, Lindsay and Kate Brown, Jackson Calvert and a grandson expected in December; great-grandchildren, Alex, David J., Sydney and Joey Calvert. The family received friends on Thursday, Oct. 9 at Boyd Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at Hamilton Baptist Church with interment in Hamilton Cemetery.

Gladys Mullen Goodman, 89, of Cabot died Sunday, October 12, 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanie Pounders of Cabot; 4 grandchildren, Michael, Heather, Brian and Heidi Pounders; 2 great-grandchildren, Logan and Audrey Pounders; 2 step-great-grandchildren, Trenton and Alyssa Hauk.

He is survived by his wife, Flora and 7 children.

Bernie C. Parker IV, infant of Carlisle, died Oct. 10, 2003.
He is survived by his parents, Bernie and Angela Parker; grandparents, Charles Poston and Linda Jacobs, Debbie Brown and the late Bernie C. Parker Jr.; great-grandparents, Hazel Maxfield, Ruby Gunn, Marilyn Parker, and the late Jessie and Oma Poston, Bernie C. Parker Sr., Durwood Gunn and Ernest Warren.

Jackie Lynn Harris, 48, of Cabot died Oct. 8, 2003.
She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Rose City.
Survivors include her husband, Garland; daughters, Julia Richardson of Little Rock and Holly LeDoux of Cabot; her mother, Polly Barger of Jacksonville; a granddaughter; brother, Billy Harris of Modesto, Calif.; sister, Peggy Harris of Jacksonville.
Funeral was Oct. 11 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Jacksonville.
Billy Joe Wilson
Tech Sgt. Billy Joe Wilson, age 54, of Cabot, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2003 in Jacksonville, Arkansas. He was born May 17, 1949 in Houlka, Mississippi to Glen and Shirley Wilson.
TSgt. Wilson served as a flight engineer and instructor for 28 years in the United States Air Force and retired in October of 1990.
