Lillian R. Mock

WALNUT RIDGE — Lillian Ruby Campbell Mock, 94, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital at Walnut Ridge.

She was born Sept. 30, 1915. She was married for more than 50 years to Joseph Lilburn Mock. They lived in St. Louis. Following his death in 1989, she moved to Walnut Ridge.

She was employed in St. Louis before retiring for health reasons. She later became a homemaker. She was a member of West End Church of Christ in St. Charles, Mo., and Main Street Church of Christ in Walnut Ridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, William Thomas Campbell and Louisa Hooten Campbell; two brothers, Othar Campbell and Eber Campbell; and three sisters, Vivian Crider, Wanda Hawk and Velma Robert. She was also preceded in death by several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include seven nieces, Loree’ Perkey of Paragould, Glenna Mae Skipper of Madera, Calif., Sandy Robert of Cabot, Wendy Campbell of Pensacola, Fla., Pat Camp of Shipman, Ill., Maxine Mosier of St. John, Mo., and Sheila Mock of St. Louis; and three nephews, Larry Hawk of Dayton, Ohio, Lavelle Robert of Fort Worth, Texas, and Dick Mock Jr. of Edmond, Okla.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Main Street Church of Christ with Rob Combs officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery at Pocahontas under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, one hour prior to service, in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Wayne Richardson

MAMMOTH SPRING — Wayne Richardson, 64, of Mammoth Spring died Wednesday at Clinton.

Wayne was employed by Regal Balouy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joshua “Jack” and Irene Richardson, and one son, U.S. Marine Cpl. Joshua Richardson.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Richardson of the home; daughters, Marsha Barton of Alton, Mo., Doris Jean Powell of Lesley and Montana Richardson of the home; son, Jimmy Richardson of Arizona; and brothers, Joshua Richardson of Arizona and Jimmy Richardson of Texas.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Saturday in Spring River Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3 with Floyd Rikard officiating. Interment will be in Richardson Cemetery.

Oal Ring

May 28, 1915-Dec. 29, 2009

CAVE CITY — Oal Ring, 94, of Cave City died Tuesday.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian Ring of Hardy; children, Danny Ring of Overland Park, Kan., Becky Way of Crossett and Betty Greiner of Greenwood, Mo.; siblings, K.P. Ring, John Ring, Dewey Ring, Lanelle Nolen, Betty Lockwood, Iva Nelson and Sue Johnson; and stepsons, Jerry Wiles and Donward Wiles.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Rings Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with visitation from 6-8 tonight in Qualls Cave City Funeral Home. Burial will be Monday in Sharpsville, Ind.

Arthur Tackett

NEWPORT — Arthur Lee Tackett, 62, of Newport died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009.

He was born Aug. 28, 1947, at Newport, the son of Arthur Odell and Mary Elizabeth Linvelle Tackett.

Mr. Tackett was preceded in death by his parents and a twin brother.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Love Tackett; son, Bobby Tackett; and sisters, Carolyn Melton of Cord and Barbara Crumpton of Newark.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Cheshier Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight.

Doris Tarpley

OIL TROUGH — Doris Tarpley, 88, of Oil Trough died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009.

She was a member of Oil Trough Methodist Church for 63 years, a member of the Oil Trough and Batesville Senior Citizen, where she received numerous awards for volunteering work, and a member of the Home Demonstration Club since 1945.

Ms. Tarpley enjoyed gardening flowers and vegetables, quilt making and stamp collecting. She was a collector of poems.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Tarpley; three brothers, Merle, George and Jr. Bright; and four sisters, Mae PettyJohn, Lorene Burrow, Lucille Burruss and Ruth Burrow.

Ms. Tarpley is survived by one son, Dennis Ray Tarpley Sr. and wife Norma Elaine of Maple Springs; two daughters, Jimmie Lynn Ballard and husband James of Oil Trough and Kathy Tapley and husband Jim of Greenbrier; one sister, Christine Waire of Sacramento, Calif.; six grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Oil Trough Methodist Church with burial in Maple Springs Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time Saturday.

Arrangements provided by Dillinger Funeral Home.

Louie Willfond

HOXIE — Louie “Junior” Willfond, 77, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Donald Gene Willfond; sister, Ilene Riggs; and brothers, Melvin and Edgar Willfond.

Survivors include his wife, Niladean Willfond; daughters, Virginia Jean Price and Darlene Avery; sons, Larry Junior Willfond and Kenneth Gale Willfond; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge followed by burial in Duty Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service, noon to 1 p.m., in the funeral home.

Charles C. Bowman

JONESBORO — Charles C. Bowman, 96, of Jonesboro passed away at St. Bernards Medical Center on Friday, Feb. 26, 2010.

Charles was born on July 13, 1913, near Douglas, Texas, to Walter and Alice Brewer Bowman. He was married to the late Louise Hunt Bowman for 70 years.

He lived most of his life in Baytown, Texas, where he was employed by what is now Exxon Mobil Corp. until retirement, then moved to Jonesboro in 1978 for the remainder of his life.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Annie, and two brothers, Mac and Edwin Bowman.

He is survived by a son, Robert H. Bowman; a daughter-in-law, Lynda Bowman; two granddaughters, Sabrena Bowman Johnson and April Bowman Gonzalez; and three great-granddaughters, Susan Johnson, Christy Johnson and Olivia Gonzalez.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in Alto, Texas. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Old Palestine Cemetery at Alto, Texas, with the Rev. Odis Bryan officiating.

The family requests memorials to First Presbyterian Church, 710 Southwest Drive, Jonesboro, Arkansas 72401, or a charity of your choice be considered.

Bobby Dobbs

JONESBORO — Bobby Dobbs, 71, of Jonesboro died Saturday at St. Bernards Medical Center.

He was born in Light on Oct. 26, 1938, to Orville and Annie Dobbs. He was a retired carpenter and of the Baptist belief.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Dobbs of the home; a daughter, Debbie Emerson of Palm Coast, Fla.; two grandchildren, Amanda Lee Womack and Robert Lloyd Hartgraves; three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Womack, Kiersten and Sarah Hartgraves; a brother, Steve Dobbs of Clarksville; and three sisters, Sue Hampton of Van Buren, Laura Guthery of California and Anna Helton of California.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel with Mike Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Chris Millsap, Tim Millsap, George Millsap, Rick Millsap, Wesley Walker and Gary Kibby.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Nellie Ruth Gant

POCAHONTAS — Nellie Ruth Gant, 89, passed away Saturday.

She is preceded by her parents, Sam and Maggie Gant.

She is survived by a sister, Francis Sloan of Pocahontas; nephew, Rusty (Melba) Sloan of Pocahontas; niece, Karen (Sergio) Pacini of Reno, Nev.; great-niece, Shannon Rhodes of Galesville, Wis.; five great-nephews, Sam and Keith Sloan of Pocahontas, Nicholas and Jonathan Helm and Franco Pacini, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at McNabb Funeral Home.

Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Frashier Family Cemetery Near Osceola, with William Richmond officiating.

John Hardee

HARRISBURG — John Hardee, 72, of Harrisburg departed this life Sunday in Jonesboro.

He was born Aug. 9, 1937, in Tennessee and was a retired truck driver for Yellow Freight. He was a former state trooper in Arkansas and Florida and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Hardee; a brother, Wayne Hardee; and a sister, Mary Lou Sides.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Bolivar Cemetery under the direction of Gregg-Weston Funeral Home of Harrisburg.

Friends may visit at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Tuesday till service time.
