Barbara Ann Bryan

GREENBRIER — Barbara Ann Bryan, 72, of Greenbrier, formerly of Lepanto, passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008.

She was born Aug. 7, 1936, at Greenbrier to the late Benjamin Stacks and Jewell Strickland Stacks. She was a receptionist at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier, member of the Order of Eastern Star and member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Paul Bryan; one son, Richard Bryan of Nashville, Tenn.; two daughters, Paula Davis and her husband James of Horseshoe Bend, and Susan Bryan, also of Horseshoe Bend; four sisters, Nesta Jean Tucker and husband L.D. of Hernando, Miss., Patricia Simpson and husband Joe of Jonesboro, Donna Grisham of Bartlett, Tenn., and Debbie Reeves and husband Garry of Guy; three brothers, Jim Stacks and wife Peggy of Lepanto, William Stacks and wife JoAnn, and Ken Stacks and wife Shirley, all of Jonesboro; five grandchildren, Tabitha Thacker, Nickolas Hauptman, Jessica Rogers, Jimmy Bryan and Amy Hill; and five great-grandchildren, Aly, Aiden, Riley, Drew and Tyler; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Ben Stacks Jr.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Bethlehem Baptist Church with burial in Copperas Springs Cemetery at Guy with Freddie Mark Wilcox officiating.

Visitation will be from 6-8 this evening in Roller-McNutt Funeral Home at Greenbrier.

Adan Luke Burks

GOSNELL — Adan Luke Burks, infant son of Aaron Luke and Amanda Lorraine Burks of Gosnell, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Great River Medical Center at Blytheville.

He also leaves his grandparents, Edmond C. (Bonnie) Doucette and Geoffrey R. (Pamela) Burks; and great-grandfather, Willard Zessin, all of Nebraska; and aunts and uncles, Michael (Debra) Doucette of Utah, Douglas (Klea) Doucette of Idaho, Dawn (Jason) Tuller and Rebecca Burks, all of Nebraska.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Cobb Funeral Home at Blytheville with the Rev. Mike Welch officiating.

Oma Evans

OSCEOLA — Oma Evans, 90, of Osceola entered into rest Friday, Oct. 31, 2008.

She was born Oct. 3, 1918, to the late Jack and Elizabeth Murray.

She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Owens and Alice Ellis; one grandson, Jay Ellis; two great-grandchildren, Jason and Sarah Ellis; sister, Lorene Crain; and twin sister, Nola Brinkley.

Graveside service will begin at 2 p.m. in Mississippi County Memorial Gardens with Ryan Morris officiating.

Adrian Maurice Harp

RECTOR — Adrian Maurice Harp, 85, of Rector was born Sept. 5, 1923, to the late Thomas Owen and Madge Fitzgerald Harp at Rector. He departed this life Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, at Castleman North Nursing Home at Indianapolis.

Mr. Harp was in the Marines, a mechanic and school bus driver.

He was united in marriage on May 9, 1947, to Jewel Lee Beard. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include his son, Thomas Owen Harp of Cory, Ind.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia and Charles Keppler of Concord, Mich., Donna and Gregg Smith of Indianapolis, and Robin and John Mitchell of Greencastle, Ind.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. in Woodland Heights Cemetery with Ken Roden officiating. Interment will follow with Irby Funeral Home of Rector in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will begin Sunday at 7 p.m. in Irby Funeral Home Chapel.

Anna Tylice Johnson

JONESBORO — Anna Tylice Blasingame Johnson, 77, of Jonesboro died Thursday, Oct. 30.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Ray Johnson; and parents, Charles and Flora Blasingame.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Johnson of San Francisco; brothers, Ed Blasingame of Vidor, Texas, Jerry Blasingame of Maynard and Charlie Blasingame of Vidor; sisters, Reba Flossey of Pocahontas, Patricia Blasingame of Trumann and Teresa Pippinger of Jonesboro; and grandchild, Marcus White of Jonesboro.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery with arrangements by Jackson’s Harrisburg Funeral Home.

Richard W. Joplin

ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. — Richard W. Joplin, 78, passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at Westbrook Manor in Zephyrhills.

He moved to 38537 Bellrose Drive, Zephyrhills, in 2006 after his wife passed away. He was born July 26, 1930, in Grandin, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orba and Mildred Joplin; his wife and mother of his children, Barbara Lee Stroup Joplin; and his grandson, James “Kyle” Berry.

He is survived by two sisters; four children, Rodney Joplin of Arlington, Texas, Brad Joplin of Jonesboro, Valerie Renee Berry Patton of Zephyrhills and Jody Joplin of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Matt Joplin, Max Joplin, Cody Joplin, Angel Joplin, Zachary Joplin, Kendall Joplin and Chloe Joplin; daughter-in-law, Lynné Joplin; and one son-in-law, Philip Patton.

He retired after 21 years from the Air Force in 1969. During that time he served in the Vietnam War. After returning from Vietnam, he moved to Jonesboro, then served 20 years for the U.S. Postal Service.

While we mourn his passing, we honor his memory and celebrate the life he lived, as we do our mother Barbara, and his first grandson, Kyle Berry, who passed away in 2006. Our lives are forever changed, but through the tears and missing them we know we will all be reunited again.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Zephyrhills who showed so much love, support and care for Mr. Joplin. We can’t thank you enough.

There will not be any memorial services.

Our father’s and mother’s ashes will be joined together and will be placed at the Joplin Cemetery in Grandin.

Nina McGaughey Lee

WYNNE — Nina McGaughey Lee, 77, of Wynne passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, at Jonesboro.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Leonard McGaughey and Evva Dye McGaughey; sister, Margaret McGaughey; and brother, Jim McGaughey.

Mrs. Lee was retired from Forrest City High School as the secretary to the principal. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Wynne.

Survivors are her daughter, Susan Hammonds and husband Denny of Wynne; son, Stephen Lee of Paragould; sister, Shirley M. Hogan of Clinton, Mo.; grandchildren, Hank Hammonds of Wynne, Reed Peevey and wife Amy of Jonesboro, Steve Lee and wife Laura of North Little Rock, Emily and Anna Caroline Lee of Paragould; and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Abbie and Jordan Lee, all of North Little Rock.

Graveside services will be today at 11 a.m. in Crosslawn Cemetery at Wynne. Funeral arrangements are by Kernodle Funeral Home.

Frankie Alice McDole

BROOKLAND — Frankie Alice McDole, 81, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at her residence.

She was born June 16, 1927, at Manila to the late Roscoe and Ollie Pearson Ware. She was a member of the Brookland Church of Christ. She graduated in 1965 from Arkansas State College with a bachelor of science degree in education. She was a first-grade teacher with the Brookland Elementary School District.

Frankie was an avid gardener and loved children.

Surviving are three daughters and their husbands, Alice and Jim Baugh of Bono, Nancy and Tim Montgomery of Brookland, and Cheryl and Ron Bramlett of Conway; six grandchildren, Brad Baugh and wife Rhonda of Bono, Brandon Maxwell of Pelahatchie, Miss., Alec Maxwell and his wife Betty of Wiggins, Miss., Andrea Montgomery of Brookland, and Joshua Bramlett and Jeffrey Bramlett, both of Conway; three great-grandchildren, Cody Baugh, Tyler Baugh and Layla Page Maxwell; and a special niece and caregiver of 91/2 years, Rebecca Denise Johnson of Bono.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Charles “Shorty” McDole; four brothers; and a sister.

A celebration of her life will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Gregg Funeral Home Chapel with Lance Guest officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery.

Honored to serve as active pallbearers are Brad Baugh, Cody Baugh, Tyler Baugh, Joshua Bramlett, Jeffrey Bramlett, Alec Maxwell, Brandon Maxwell and Andrea Montgomery; and as honorary pallbearers, all of her nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight in Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Lasting memorials may be sent to Brookland Elementary School or the Brookland Church of Christ Children’s Programs.

Stanley R. Penny

PARAGOULD — Stanley Robert Penny, 58, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008.

Survivors include his parents, Rochelle and Betty Penny; son, Kyle of Bethalto, Ill.; daughters, Jessica and Jennifer of St. Louis; sisters, Karen Wilhelm and Cheryl Coffin; grandson, Nicholas; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Heath Colonial Chapel with burial in Greene County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1-2 Sunday.

Jimmy Winningham

HARRISBURG — Jimmy Winningham, 59, of Harrisburg died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at his home.

He was born Nov. 30, 1948, at Memphis, the son of J.F. and Joyce Hall Winningham.

Mr. Winningham was a farmer and an appraiser. He was an active, lifelong member of First United Methodist Church and a member of the Singles Club of Jonesboro.

He was a 1966 graduate of Harrisburg High School and graduated from Arkansas State University in 1971 with a degree in agriculture.

He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Joe T. Hunting Club many years. He especially loved his grandchildren and enjoyed any time he spent with them.

Mr. Winningham was preceded in death by his father, J.F. Winningham; and his mother, Joyce Hall Winningham.

He is survived by one son, Donnie Ray Winningham of Harrisburg; one daughter, Leah McCrary and husband Will of Harrisburg; and their mother, Vickie Heeb Winningham; his stepmother, Lucille Smalling Winningham; two brothers, Robbie Winningham of Harrisburg and Scott Winningham of Jonesboro; one sister, Beatrice Winningham Gullia of Harrisburg; two grandchildren, Collin McCrary and Carly McCrary; his mother-in-law, Helen Heeb; and nieces, cousins and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Jackson’s Harrisburg Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Daniel Howton, Harold Kocher, John Hutchison, Andy Terrell, James Grissom, Wyatt Goad, Hollie Adams, Burt Grubbs, Eric Wright and JR Riley.

Honorary pallbearers are Charles Nix, Bill Kerr, Johnny Wallace, Allen Mathews, Gary Brown, Billy Ray Cooper, Steve Hutchison, Jimmy Heeb, Donald Jones, Tony Heeb, Kenneth Brand, David Wallace, Roger Austin, Howard Pierce, Butch Roberts, Gary Reddmann, members of the Class of 1966 and members of the Singles Club of Jonesboro.

Visitation will be this evening from 6-9.

Memorials may be made to Hospice or First United Methodist Church of Harrisburg.
