FORT SMITH — Dorothy Edwards Smith, 66, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Aug. 24.

She was a homemaker.

Memorial services will be this evening from 6-8 in Ocker-Putman Funeral Home.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Smith of the home; daughter, Bonnie Garner of Alma; sons, Tony Dale of Rudy and Chuck Dale of Van Buren; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Roberds of Muldrow, Okla.; and sisters, Nell McKinney of Jonesboro and Doris Gibson of Beebe.

Memorials may be made to Reynolds Cancer Support House, 3324 South M St., Fort Smith 72901, or to Peachtree Hospice, 4300 Rogers Ave., Fort Smith 72901.

Alice Bernice Stigall

BLYTHEVILLE — Mrs. Alice Bernice Stigall, 77, of Blytheville died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, at Salem.

She leaves three children, Sherry (Larry) Warren of Aurora, Ill., Rocky (Betty) Stigall of Gosnell and Sheila Pate (Ricky) Ray of Salem; sisters, Frieda (James) Alford of Jonesboro, Darlene Watts of Beebe and Diane (Jim) Smith of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Cobb Funeral Home at Blytheville with Dr. Max Briley officiating.

Visitation will be from 6-8 this evening in the funeral home.

J T Taylor

CARAWAY — J T Taylor of Caraway died Sunday, Aug. 24, at the VA Hospital at Memphis.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Bessie Taylor; three children; 26 brothers and sisters; and his parents.

He will be sadly missed by his children, Steve Taylor, Jim Taylor, Martha Holmberg, Beckie Duncan, Lecey Whietley and Judy Harwood.

Jake, we love you.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Caraway Cemetery.

Visitation will be held tonight in Gregg Funeral Home at Monette from 6-8.

Olivia Danielle Beard

POCAHONTAS — Olivia Danielle Beard was born and died Friday, Aug. 22, at Baptist Hospital at Little Rock.

Survivors include her father, Morris Beard and mother, Tara Fulbright of Pocahontas; grandparents, Don and Debbie Fulbright of Pocahontas, and William Jr. and Betty Jarrett of Wynne; and great-grandparents, Bill and Francis Skimahorn of Pocahontas, William Sr. and Louis Jarrett, and GL and Joyce Pierce, all of Wynne. She also has many aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her grandpa, Claude Beard; and great-grandpa, Johnny Alphin.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Masonic Cemetery with Ron Barry officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday from 2-3 before services in McNabb Funeral Home.

Joseph Eldon Blackwood

POUGHKEEPSIE — Joseph Eldon Blackwood, 56, of Poughkeepsie died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at his home.

He was born Aug. 27, 1951, to Vanas Howard and Geniva Virginia Owens Blackwood on Island 35 near Reverie, Tenn. He loved his family and loved to play music on his guitar, and sing country and gospel music.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Raymond Blackwood.

Survivors include his wife, Polly Blackwood of the home; two sons, Bubba Blackwood of Walnut Ridge and Donny Blackwood of Glenwood; five grandchildren, Dylan Blackwood of Walnut Ridge, Megan Blackwood of Glenwood, Hunter Blackwood of Glenwood, Logan Blackwood of Walnut Ridge and McKenzie Blackwood of Glenwood; three brothers, Vanas Howard Blackwood Jr. of St. Louis, Henry Blackwood of Trumann and Harold Blackwood of Tyronza; one sister, Doris Todd of Wynne; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be tonight at 6 in Pleasant Ridge Community Church with Jim Pagan officiating. No visitation is planned.

Pallbearers will be Steve Dotson, Riley Todd, Harvey Gann, Jackie Pickett, Ira Gann and Tommy Pagan.

Arrangements are by Roller Crouch-McGee Funeral Home of Cave City.

Brenda Bowman

JONESBORO — Brenda Bowman, 40, of Jonesboro died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, in a Little Rock hospital.

Survivors include her parents, John Scott Sr. and FloAnn Ellis Scott; her husband, Kerry Bowman of Jonesboro; son, Kyle Bowman; brother, John Scott Jr. of Kansas; sister, Danielle Morales of California; three grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be private.

Arrangements are by Willis Funeral Service of Batesville.

Aletha McGowan Dancy

Aug. 14, 1928-Aug. 20, 2008

OSCEOLA — Aletha McGowan Dancy, 80, of Osceola died Aug. 20 at Manila Nursing Home.

Her husband, Nat Dancy, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Rosetta Person and Isabell Dancy of Osceola, Earl Dancy of Fresno, Calif., Nathaniel Dancy and Larry Dancy of Memphis, and Shirley Dancy, Fannie Holt and Ray Dancy of Little Rock; sister, Mary Jones of Forrest City; 25 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m. in Wilson’s Osceola Funeral Home with burial in Whiteside Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-7 in the funeral home.

Anthony Dzwierzynski

KENOSHA, Wis. — Anthony “Tony” Dzwierzynski, 88, of Kenosha passed away Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at Sheridan Medical Complex.

Born on Jan. 28, 1920, in Chicago, he was the son of the late Valentine and Angeline Kaplon Dzwierzynski. He was educated in the schools of Chicago and lived in Arkansas for 25 years before moving to Kenosha in January 2006.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1942 until 1945, reaching the rank of sergeant.

On Sept. 27, 1947, he married Eleanor Jakubowski at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Chicago. She preceded him in death on June 8, 2005.

Tony was employed with the Continental Can Co. in Chicago as a lithographer for 43 years.

Tony was a former member of the Moose Lodge when he lived in Chicago, liked to play games on the computer, loved old movies, was an avid Chicago Bears, Chicago White Sox and Milwaukee Brewers fan, and was a very devoted husband.

Survivors include five children, Elaine Goedhart of Westchester, Ill., Beverly (John) Kontola of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Patricia (William) Kintz of Kenosha, Jerome (Janet) Dzwierzynski of LaGrange Park, Ill., and Denise Riley of Charlevoix, Mich.; a brother, Edward Dzwierzynski of California; two sisters, Sister Mary Sebastia and Josephine Gall, both of Chicago; 13 grandchildren; Lawrence Kintz, Jeffrey Kintz, Nicolette Matt, Michelle Riley, Jackie Riley, Jeffery Riley, Daniel Riley, Timothy Riley, Andrew Riley, Casey Riley, Kathryn Dzwierzynski, Brendan Dzwierzynski and Jenna Dzwierzynski; and one great-granddaughter, Samantha Riley.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter.

A memorial Mass will be held for Tony at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in St. Michael’s Catholic Church at Cherokee Village.

Inez Friend

JONESBORO — Inez Friend, 81, of Jonesboro entered her new life on Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at Southridge Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Heber Springs.

She was born April 30, 1927, into the family of Samuel E. and Oma Sutterfield Crews. She was a homemaker and retired from General Electric. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Sandra F. Phelps of Heber Springs; one grandson, Jeffrey D. King of Atlanta; three stepgranddaughters, Mary Cook of Bartlett, Tenn., Judy Britton of Heber Springs and Lea Ann Phelps of Nashville, Tenn.; and one brother, A.B. Scott of Lake City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Friend.

Graveside funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Jonesboro Memorial Park with Jerry Jolly officiating. Burial will follow.

Visitation will be from 5-7 this evening in Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Lasting memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church Building Fund.

Adyson Rita Jordan

LAKE CITY — Adyson Rita Jordan passed away on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, at Arkansas Children’s Hospital at Little Rock.

Adyson was born on Sept. 17, 2006, at St. Bernards Hospital at Jonesboro.

Adyson was the embodiment of life, very inquisitive and full of life. She loved learning about everything. She loved books, puzzles, Elmo, Baby Einstein and all her friends at Nana’s Daycare. She especially loved Auntie Beth and the Adams family, who loved and cared for her as their own child. She loved her drives with her dad down to the levee to look for turtles and snakes and learn about wildlife.

Adyson is survived by her parents, Phillip and Allison Jordan of Lake City; her aunt, Kelly Malloy (Mike Johnson), who was Adyson’s other mother; great-grandmother, Lelabelle Wilson of Jonesboro; grandparents, James and Pamela Malloy of Eureka, Calif., and John T. Jordan of Lake City; grand-aunt, Caye Malloy of Eureka, Calif.; great-aunts, Betty Edison, Ann Hoffman, Shirley Thompson and Sherry Russell, all of Jonesboro, and Barbara Malloy, Theresa Malloy and Linda Roberts of Eureka; and great-uncle, Richard (Sherry) Malloy of Webster, N.Y.

Adyson is also survived by uncles, John (Margaret) Jordan of Hoxie, Chris (Melody) Jordan of Lake City, Jason (Nancy) Jordan of Aurora, Colo., and Kerri Malloy of Eureka; aunt, Tammy (Glenn) Washington of Jonesboro; cousins, Austin and Jessica Jordan of Hoxie, Emily and Wesley Jordan of Lake City, Amanda Jordan of Aurora, Gracie and Hanna Washington of Jonesboro, Rachel Cain of Webster, Chris (Corrine) and Helena Marie Malloy of Fort Collins, Colo., Barbara Hotelling of Eureka, Judy (John) Ristow, Michelle Turner and Christine Ristow of Vancouver, Wash., Brian (Aimee) Malloy of San Francisco, Erin Malloy of Fortuna, Calif., Patrick Malloy of Arcata, Calif., Patty Duncan of Emeryville, Calif., and Janice (Harry) Vaughn of Salmon Creek, Calif.

Adyson was preceded in death by her grandmother, Rita Fay Jordan; her great-grandparents, Joe and Ruth Malloy, Woodrow Wilson, Raymond Franks and Margorie Thomas; great-aunt, Helen Malloy; aunts and uncles, Dixie and Ray Taylor, Ronald Franks, Rodney Franks and Michael Malloy.

Visitation will be held in First Baptist Church at Lake City from 5-7 tonight. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation.
