Marcella Yvonne Barrett
ALTON, Mo. — Marcella Yvonne Barrett, 80, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 25, 1927, at Pottsville to the late Ernest and Willie Cora Staggs. She was a homemaker and member of Apple Hill Church of Christ of Jonesboro. In her earlier years Mrs. Barrett was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell for several years. She was dearly loved in life and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are two sons, Mark Barrett of Alton and Greg Barrett of Westmoreland, Tenn.; a sister and her husband, Vee and Bill Munson of Hearn, Texas; two grandchildren, Kyle Barrett and Gracie Barrett, both of Alton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Beryl Barrett; a brother, Warren; and three sisters, Polly, Jane and Wanda.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Herndon Cemetery
on Arkansas 141 North with Larry McFadden officiating under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Visitation will be held this evening at Gregg Funeral Home in Jonesboro from 6-8.
Faith Erin Benzing
CABOT — Faith Erin Benzing, infant, of Cabot went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008.
She was born Aug. 13, 2008, at Little Rock to Aaron and Harriett Benzing.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Calvin Hollingsworth of Jonesboro, Jethro and Mary Ola Harrell of Wynne, and Robert and Ruby Doran of Perry, Iowa.
She is survived by her parents, Aaron and Harriett Benzing; brother Matthew, 4; sisters, Allison, 1, and twin sister, Grace; grandparents, Ralph and Karla Benzing, and Dr. Harry and Cathy Harrell of Jonesboro; great-grandparents, Louise Hollingsworth of Jonesboro, and Howard and Marion Benzing of Decorah, Iowa; uncles and aunts, Larry and Lori Benzing, Tony and Nikki Benzing, Ryan and Holly Trough, Beth Benzing, Jonathan Benzing, and Paul and Megan Harrell; and by her cousins, Landry and Emma Benzing, and Cathryn Trough.
Her parents find comfort in their faith that although time with their precious daughter on this side of eternity was short, she is made complete in Heaven and is held safely in the arms of Jesus. They are thankful that by the grace of God, her identical twin sister was allowed to live and will be a reflection of the life that couldn’t be (Romans 8:28).
A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in Mount Pleasant Cemetery
at Cabot with Dr. Glen Putman, pastor of Walnut Street Baptist Church, officiating.

Larry M. Blunk
TRUMANN — Larry M. Blunk, 66, of Trumann died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at the family residence.
Born at Corning, he had lived in the Trumann area the past 28 years. He was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps and Trumann Postal Service. Mr. Blunk was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Loraine Blunk of the home; two sons, James Richard Sharp and Eddie Wayne Sharp of Trumann; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 10 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be the
military.
Visitation will be this evening from 5-8 at the funeral home.
Bill Cockrell
OSCEOLA — Bill Cockrell, 81, of Osceola died Tuesday morning, Aug. 12, at Osceola Healthcare.
He was a retired auto parts worker, member and deacon of First Baptist Church, member of Lions Club and a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Erb of Charleston, W.Va., and Gayle Bentley of Osceola; one sister, Lou O’Brien of Osceola; one brother; Trice Cockrell of Alexandria, La.; two granddaughters; and three great-grandsons.
Services will be at 10 Friday morning at Osceola First Baptist Church.

MOUNTAIN HOME — Brittney Nicole McCaughan Graham, 23, died Monday at Mountain Home.
Survivors include her husband, Shane Graham; children, Benjamin Braun DeVore and McKenzie Kay Graham, all of the home; stepson, Mason Colt Graham; parents, William and Debbie McCaughan of Olive Branch, Miss., and Debra LeBlanc of Jonesboro; brother, William Aubrey McCaughan IV of Mountain Home; and maternal grandparents, Gene H. and Henrietta Robinson of Jonesboro.
Services will be Saturday afternoon at 2 in Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel at Melbourne. Burial will be in Combs Cemetery
under direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home.
Visitation will be tonight from 6-8.
Ruth M. Kunkel
EVENING SHADE — Ruth M. Kunkel, 90, of Evening Shade died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at White River Medical Center.
She was born March 4, 1918, to the late Dotson and Anna Belle Metcalf.
Survivors include her son, Jimmie Don Kunkel of Evening Shade; sisters, Vista Finley and Madge Armstrong, both of Monette; granddaughter, Lecia Holcombe; stepgrandchildren, Julie Jines and Donald Nelson; one great-grandchild; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be this morning at 10 in Piney Fork Church of Christ with burial in Evening Shade Cemetery
under the direction of Qualls’ Cave City Funeral Home.
Martha J. Lester
WEST MEMPHIS — Martha J. Lester, 76, of West Memphis passed away Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at Crittenden Regional Hospital.
Ms. Lester was retired from Wal-Mart.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis.
Jessie Geraldine Markin
MONETTE — Jessie Geraldine “Toots” Markin, 83, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 22, 1925, in Monette to the late William and Sarah Loftin. She was a homemaker and member of the Monette Assembly of God.
Surviving are two daughters, Wava Lou DeFries of Paragould and Linda Joyce Markin of Cave City; a brother, Ralph Loftin of Cardwell, Mo.; three grandchildren, Leasa Graddy, John Dean DeFries and Michael Shawn Markin; and three great-grandchildren, Chris Defries, Duran Defries and Shane Graddy.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charley D. Markin; and a brother, Wayne Loftin.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette with the Rev. Terry Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held this evening from 6-8 at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.
Honorary pallbearers will be the ladies’ Sunday school class.
Harry Alfred Meyer
WYNNE — Harry Alfred Meyer, 81, a resident of Wynne, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, in Jonesboro.
He was born May 2, 1927, at Nordheim, Texas, the son of Harry Henry George and Willie Lucille House Meyer.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Meyer of Wynne; mother, Willie Meyer of Wynne; three sons, Randell Meyer of Wynne, William Meyer of Maryland and Greg Meyer of Texas; daughter, Kristi James of Texas; and eight grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Mission Park South Cemetery
at San Antonio. Thompson-Wilson Wynne Funeral Home (phone 238-9400) is in charge of arrangements.
Larry Thomas Scrivner Sr.
OSCEOLA — Larry Thomas Scrivner Sr., 62, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008.
He was born April 22, 1946, at Dell.
Survivors include his children, Heather Scrivner of Osceola, Larry Scrivner of Cherokee Village, Kenneth Scrivner of Oahu, Hawaii, and Stella Scrivner and James Scrivner, both of Blytheville; mother, Mildred Scrivner of Osceola; sisters, Louise Akins and Sandy Zeeman, both of Texas, Janie Clemmons of Gosnell, and Linda Mullinix and Ann Johnson, both of Michigan; and brothers, Charles Scrivner of Missouri and Cecil Scrivner of Osceola.
Services will be today at 11 a.m. in Wilson’s Osceola Funeral Home with burial in Mississippi County Memorial Gardens.

WYNNE — Etta Barkley, 86, of Wynne passed away Wednesday night, Aug. 13, at Wynne.
Survivors are her sons, Ralph Troy Barkley of Evans City, Pa., and Rodney Roy Barkley of Wynne; daughters, Loretta Fay Rice of Harmony, Pa., Dianna Floy Watt of Sarver, Pa., Marilyn Mae Carrol of Florence, Ore., Deloris Flo Mangold of Wynne, Lucinda Sue Rutledge of Springdale and Trudy Joy Stroud of Wynne; brothers, Charles Bupp of Harmony; 24 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be today at 11 a.m. in Wynne Presbyterian Church. Internment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mount Chestnut, Pa.
