T.H. Schimming

CORNING — T.H. Schimming, 85, of Delaplaine died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was born March 17, 1923, in Peach Orchard, the son of Richard Emil and Agnes Ruth Cleveland Schimming.

Mr. Schimming served his country in the Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was a retired farmer and of the Baptist faith.

On Oct. 5, 1940, he was united in marriage to Beatrice Cooper. She preceded him in death on Nov. 11, 1978.

Survivors include his son, Rodney (Judy) Schimming of Peach Orchard; sisters, Doris Clark of Corning and Bonnie Harper of Granite City, Ill.; two grandsons, Richard and Wade Schimming; and three great-grandchildren, Maddie, Jacob and Audrey Schimming.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Carl Schimming; and sister, Marie Barger.

Visitation will be this evening from 5-8 at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Abanathy officiating. Burial will follow in Brownie Cemetery at Peach Orchard.

Pallbearers will be Richard Catt, Jimmy Rice, Shawn Burgess, Kirk Luttrell, James Ray and Heath Crider.

Irma Lee Seymour

1923-2008

MOUNTAIN HOME — Irma Lee Seymour entered into eternal rest Monday, July 28, 2008. She was 85 years old.

Irma Lee was born at Jonesboro Feb. 4, 1923, to Dee and Sally Holman. She married Reynolds Seymour on May 29, 1942.

Irma Lee had lived in Mountain Home for two years, moving from Conway. Her life was dedicated to caring for her home and family. She was a wonderful cook and meticulous housekeeper. She will be remembered as a loving grandmother with a generous heart.

Irma Lee was a member of Our Lady of Good Council of Little Rock and St. Peter the Fisherman of Mountain Home Catholic Churches.

She is survived by one son, Reynolds Joseph Seymour (Lynn) of Goshen; three daughters, Suzanne Kaye (John) of San Francisco, Linda Long (Gary) of Conway and Toni Prohl (Eugene) of Mountain Home; two brothers, Jake Holman (Millie) of Hollister, Mo., and Jimmy Holman (Becky) of Jackson, Tenn.; grandchildren, Reynolds James Seymour, John Evans Seymour, Barret Ryan Seymour, Jason William Swetnam, Hillary J. Kaye, Jenny A. Kaye, Palmer J. Long, Tiffany A. Sprague, Ethan O. Williams, Sean R. Williams and Emily E. Prohl; and a number of great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and her parents.

A memorial Mass was held for Irma Lee Seymour at Christ the King Catholic Church in Little Rock on Friday.

David Willis Short

BASSETT — David Willis Short, 70, of Bassett died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at his home.

He was born April 6, 1938, in Evanston, Ill., and was a Marine veteran. He was a retired mortgage broker and of the Presbyterian faith.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Short of Bassett; daughter, Dianna Welch and husband, Steve of Bassett; grandchildren, Larry Welch of New Orleans, Lucas Welch and Landon Welch, both of Bassett; great-grandson, Parker Welch of Paragould; and sister, Joan Murphy of Wixon, Mich.

Two brothers preceded him in death.

Mr. Short was cremated with arrangements by Wilson’s Osceola Funeral Home. No services are planned.

Cotton Stapleton

TUCKERMAN — Cotton Stapleton, 62, of Tuckerman died Monday.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include two sons, Scotty Stapleton of Newport and Donnie Stapleton of Tuckerman; one brother, Calvin Stapleton of Newport; and three grandchildren, Donnie Ray Stapleton of Tuckerman, Darren and Lisa Stapleton of Pleasant Plains.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Walnut Grove Cemetery with arrangements by Dillinger Funeral Home.

Visitation will be this evening from 5:30-8 at the funeral home.

Audrey A. Stidham

PIGGOTT — Audrey A. Stidham, 79, of Piggott died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at Piggott Community Hospital.

She was born the daughter of the late James and Laura Howell Broadway.

Survivors include her daughters, Linda Ort and Regeana Vavak, both of Piggott, and Sharon Gunter of Russellville; nine grandchildren; and five sisters, Betty Ann Broadway, Marilyn Stokes, Joan Russell, Donna Clifton and Joyce Murphy.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Hoggard and Sons Chapel with burial in Piggott Cemetery. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be this evening at 6.

Geneva Vaulner

NEWPORT — Geneva Vaulner, 66, of Newport died Sunday.

Survivors include her son, Howard Brooks of Newport; daughters, Christine Spanswick of Newport, Theresa Himes (Dorothea Irene Vaulner) of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; stepdaughter, Thressa Bowen of Newport; brother, Claude Vaulner of Monticello; sisters, Nellie Kinniard of Hamburg, Nora Atkins and Novella Skinner, both of Hanes City, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, special family and friends.

Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-8.

Cecil Adams

WALNUT RIDGE — Cecil Adams, 71, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, in Jonesboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyes and Bertha Payne Adams; and one brother.

He is survived by his wife, Orpal Adams of the home; son, Oran Adams of Cave City; four sisters; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Whittaker Cemetery near Walnut Ridge under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge with Derek Collins officiating.

The body has been cremated, and no visitation has been planned.

Royal Lee Broadway

PIGGOTT — Royal Lee “Toots” Broadway, 74, of Piggott died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at Piggott Community Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Broadway of Piggott; children, Rick Broadway of Farmington, Mo., Barry Broadway of Valdosta, Ga., and Gayla Book of Piggott; five sisters, Betty Ann Broadway, Marilyn Stokes, Donna Clifton, Joyce Murphy and Joan Russell; and six grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home at Piggott with Rick Broadway, Mark Book, Don Thrasher and Charles Richardson officiating and burial in Piggott Cemetery.

Visitation will be tonight at 6.

Cliftee Miller Burgess

FORREST CITY — Mrs. Cliftee Miller Burgess, 78, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Forrest City Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband, Amos Burgess.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Emerson Funeral Home.

Lola Mae Fitzwater

JONESBORO — Lola Mae Fitzwater, 86, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Skilcare Nursing Center.

She was born at Swifton into the family of Samuel and Nellie Dunn George Sr.

Mrs. Fitzwater was a former cook. She loved sewing, gardening and cooking and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Jonesboro.

Survivors include one son, Paul Fitzwater Jr. of Lake City; five daughters, Mary Langston, Phyllis Fitzwater and Barbara Giglio, all of Jonesboro, Patricia Sagley of Cash and Lynn Payne of Maryland; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Boyce Hensley of Jonesboro; and one sister, Betty Noel of Jonesboro.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Fitzwater.

Active pallbearers will include Allen Stebbins, Francisco Lopez, Jimmy Reeves, Bobby Morris, Ronnie Vaughn and James Boyd.

Honorary pallbearers will include Ted Foreman and Albert Davis.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home with Gerald Vickers officiating. Burial will follow in Haynes Cemetery at Swifton.

Visitation will be held tonight from 5-8 in Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.
