Manjulagau B. Desai

JONESBORO — Manjulagau B. Desai, 78, of Jonesboro, died Thursday morning, July 10, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital.

She was born in India and moved to the United States in 1985, then to Jonesboro from New Orleans in 1994. She was a part of the Hindu culture.

She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Bharat Desai and Bhavesh and Alka Desai, all of Jonesboro; daughters, Maya Mehta of Mission Viejo, Calif., Kalpana Shah of Leesburg, Va.; and granddaughters, Nital Desai and Hinali Desai.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mafatlal and Kamlabehn Dalal.

Funeral services will be Saturday at noon in Emerson Memorial Chapel.

Visitation will be this evening from 6-7 in the funeral home.

Altha Fay Frazier

Nov. 4, 1921-July 9, 2008

CAVE CITY — Altha Fay Frazier, 86, of Cave City died Wednesday at White River Medical Center at Batesville.

She was born at Lebanon, Mo., to Jacob and Rachel Varner Detherow.

Survivors include her sons, Chuck Frazier of Hot Springs, Don Frazier of Sherwood and Richard Frazier of Maumelle; daughter, Brenda Frazier Owen of Weatherford, Texas; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in Cave City First Missionary Baptist Church with burial following in Cave City Cemetery under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home.

Visitation will be this evening from 6-8 in the funeral home.

Dorothy Harris

JONESBORO — Dorothy Harris, 94, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, July 9, at her residence.

She was born Aug. 7, 1913, in Little Rock to Oliver Newton and Lena Lee. She was a retired secretary from Payne Plumbing Supply in Tupelo, Miss., and a member of First Christian Church.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Harris; her parents; three brothers, Oliver Newton Lee Jr., William H. Lee and Charles A. Lee; and two sisters, Virginia Lee Adams and Martha Lee Morgan.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Roller-Farmers Union Chapel with Jerry Wilcox officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will include John G. Meeker, David Morgan, Stephen Meeker, Matt Tinsley, Bob Rhein and Bill Adams.

Visitation will be this evening from 5-7 in Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Lasting memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis 38105.

John E. Jenkins

JACKSONVILLE — John E. Jenkins, 26, died Monday, July 7, in Madison, Miss.

He was born April 15, 1982, in North Little Rock.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, J.C. and Imogene Jenkins, and E.L. and Iva May Curry; uncles, David and Johnny Jenkins; and cousins, Bryan “Bubba” Curry and Cara Ann Jenkins.

He is survived by his parents, Richard G. and Iva Delorse Curry Jenkins of Pocahontas; three brothers, Shawn Patton of Las Vegas, Rick Jenkins II of Irving, Texas, and William Lynn Jenkins of Duluth, Ga.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces whom he loved and cared for.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with burial following in Randolph Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Rosie Leonard

JONESBORO — Rosie Leonard, 84, of Jonesboro died on Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at Ridgecrest Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born June 29, 1924, at Jonesboro into the family of Henry and Ida Brazil. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include three daughters, Norma Simmons of Little Rock, Brenda Johnson and Linda Leonard, both of Jonesboro; and 21 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two sons, one daughter, one brother and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Roller-Farmers Union Chapel with Wynndel King officiating. Burial will follow in Bishop Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will include Jason Mothershed, Larry Barrett, Lee McGinnis, Ray Brownderville, Greg Burr and Jason Marsh.

Visitation will be from 5-8 this evening in Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Mildred Marie Tinker

MINTURN — Mildred Marie Tinker, 74, of Minturn died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was born on Oct. 10, 1933, at Alicia, the daughter of Rex and Myrtle Chastiaan Pierce. Mrs. Tinker was employed with Scentation’s in Pocahontas, a member of Main Street Church of Christ at Walnut Ridge and an active member of the community.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin brother, Rex Pierce Jr., brother, Jessie Pierce; and an infant brother.

Her husband, Loyce Tinker of the home; and one son, Jason Tinker of Minturn, survive her. A host of other relatives and friends will mourn her passing.

Funeral services are planned for Saturday morning at 10 in Main Street Church of Christ at Walnut Ridge with Rob Combs and Jerry Haner officiating. Burial will follow in Minturn Cemetery at Minturn under direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service at Walnut Ridge.

Visitation will be this evening from 5-8 in Higginbotham Chapel at Walnut Ridge.

Pallbearers will be D.C. Rowlett, Wayne King, Danny Haner, Lester Herring, Ed Baker and Junior Briner.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Hayes, Ronnie Brown, Joe Baker, Dan Ellison and Alex Latham.

Justin Veach

MANILA — Justin Veach, 32, of Manila died Thursday at Great River Medical Center at Blytheville.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Howard Funeral Service of Manila.

Larry Gene Watson

ELIZABETH — A memorial service for Larry Gene Watson of Elizabeth will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Oak Valley Baptist Church on Hand Cove Road with Terry Watson and Jeff Watson officiating.

Larry Watson died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, in Mountain Home at the age of 65.

Larry Watson was born Monday, Aug. 10, 1942, in Blytheville, the son of Carl O’Dea and Reba Bryan Watson. He worked for 30 years at Southwestern Bell Telephone Co.

Larry Watson was a U.S. Army veteran with the rank of sergeant. He had lived at Elizabeth since 1991, moving there from Jonesboro.

He had a love for hunting and fishing and enjoyed having friends for cookouts. He loved teaching his granddaughter about all the things he loved about life. She was his world.

He was active in church and loved to help people.

Larry Watson is survived by his daughter, Cordula (Joe Frego) Watson of Elizabeth; granddaughter, Heather Rita Watson, great-grandson, Hunter Michael Watson Seats; special friend, Kathy Kartheiser; and brother, Bobby Watson of Blytheville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Hay.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks or a favorite charity.

Arrangements are by Kirby & Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
