Virginia Tyler
LYNN — Virginia Tyler, 82, of Lynn died Friday, July 4, 2008, at Cave City Nursing and Rehab.
She was born on Feb. 3, 1926, at Smithville, the daughter of the late Carson and Lura Stalnaker White. Mrs. Tyler owned the 69 Taxi Service in Walnut Ridge for many years; she was bookkeeper for Big Star in West Memphis and a caregiver in Fayetteville while living there.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Warren Rick Cantrell; daughter, Rosalie Cantrell Ingram; two brothers, Boyce White and Barney Joe White; and sister, Francine White Thomas.
She is survived by one daughter, Anita Howard of Lynn; three sons, Alan Cantrell and Ron Bartlett, both of Fayetteville, and David Bartlett of Lenoir City, Tenn.; sister, Erma Clara Walker of Strawberry; and brother, Cecil White of Cave City.
Graveside services will be Monday at 2 p.m. in Crittenden Memorial Park at Marion under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service in Walnut Ridge. No visitation is planned.

Cheryl Ann Vinson
LAKE CITY — Cheryl Ann Vinson, 46, of Lake City died Thursday, July 3, 2008, in Baptist Memorial Hospital at Memphis.
Cheryl was born in Hollywood, Calif., on July 4, 1961. She moved to Lake City at 12 years of age where she would live out the remainder of her life being an active member of First Assembly of God.
She was not only a graduate, but served as secretary for Riverside Elementary for 10 years before she retired. Always a giving person, Cheryl devoted her life to ensuring the happiness and satisfaction of those around her, as well as constantly loving and praying for those who were not.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Pearlie Major and Sue Ellen Zimmerman Cummings.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Vinson of the home; one son, Justin Vinson of Jonesboro; one sister and her husband, Barbara and Don Morris of Elko, Nev.; one niece and her husband, Angie and Terry Wood; one nephew, Chisholm Morris; two great-nieces and spouse, Kaylie Ann Wood and Jennifer and Cory Johnson; and one great-great-niece, Abby Wood.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10 in First Assembly of God at Lake City with Steve Crawford and Van Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in Lake City Cemetery
with Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers are Kevin Austin, Wade Stark, Terry Wood, Jake Gilley, Nickey Fletcher and Reuben Simpson. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. B.J. Kelley, DaVita Nurses and staff, Matt Hill, Roland Cobb, Curtis Goad, Donald Morris, Dick Balfour and Rickey Vinson.
Visitation will be held tonight from 5-8 in Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Jackie Louise Bible Bice
TUCKERMAN — Jackie Louise Bible Bice, 52, of Tuckerman died Friday, July 4, 2008, at Paragould.
Mrs. Bice was a member of Freewill Baptist Church at Tuckerman. She was a teacher at the Jackson County School District.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cyrus and Opal Bible; and one brother, Jerry Birdsong.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Bice of Tuckerman; two sons, Larry Bice Jr. and wife Molly of Jonesboro and Casey Bice of Tuckerman; one daughter, Nikki Williams and husband Mathew of Tuckerman; three brothers, Donnie Ray Calender of Tuckerman and Cyrus Bible Jr. and David Bible, both of Weiner; one sister, Betty Rushing of Springfield, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Shanley and Addyson Williams.
Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Gracelawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be tonight from 6-9 in the funeral home.

JONESBORO — Rita Faye Richardson, 56, of Jonesboro died Saturday evening, July 5, 2008, at NEA Baptist Medical Center.

Dayton Lynville Thomas
JACKSONVILLE — Dayton Lynville Thomas, 84, of Jacksonville passed away Sunday, July 6, 2008, at his home.
He was born on July 14, 1923, at Hickory Plains to the late Lealon and Ella Mae Colclasure Thomas.
He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Dewey and Emmitt Thomas; and sister, Lee Ella Wall.
Mr. Thomas was a member of McArthur Assembly of God in Jacksonville. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier, 10 years with Missouri Pacific Railroad and also as a boiler inspector with the state of Arkansas.
He was a 32nd degree Mason of Jacinto Masonic Lodge 216 and the Scottish Rite.
He is survived by his wife, Margurite Thomas; two children, Donald (Becky) Thomas and Peggy (Jim) Burton, all of Jacksonville; sisters, Ada Mae (Pete) Vann of Sherwood, Modean Gertsch of North Little Rock, Judith (Charlie) Pugh of Hernando, Miss., and Linda (David) Johnston of North Little Rock; grandchildren, Scott (Kim) Thomas, Dusty (Marti) Thomas, John (Heather) Burton, Brian Burton and Jenny (J.B.) Halliburton; and great-grandchildren, Jordan and Dillon Thomas, Halleigh, Jayce and Hattie Burton.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home Chapel followed by entombment in Rest Hills Memorial Park at North Little Rock.
Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight in the funeral home.

Offie Mae Thornton
GRUBBS — Offie Mae Thornton, 89, of Grubbs died Sunday, July 6.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas James Thornton; sons, Thomas and Eugene Thornton; daughter, Judy Turner; four grandchildren; three brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors are sons, James Thornton of Floral, “Bill” Thornton of Bono and Steve Thornton of Pennington; daughters, Carolyn Adams of Louisiana, Maxine Miser of Newport and Dee Autry of Batesville; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday in Grubbs Church of Christ. Interment is in Balch-Johnston Cemetery.
Visitation is tonight from 5-8 in Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.

BLYTHEVILLE — Cecil Bailey, 78, of Blytheville, died Saturday, July 5 at his home.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Powell Bailey of Blytheville; his children, Cynthia S. McCustion and her husband, Marcus, of Blytheville, Gregory S. Bailey and Roger D. Carter of Jonesboro; two sisters, Elaine Bee of Madison, Ala., and Carolyn Crozier of Huntsville, Ala.; one grandchild, Kathryn Bailee McCustion; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in Cobb Funeral Home at Blytheville.
Visitation is from 6-8 this evening at the funeral home.
Sillius Bailey
POCAHONTAS — Sillius Bailey, 72, died Sunday.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Thatch Bailey; sons, John Wayne Bailey of Pocahontas, Milton Bailey of New Tazewell, Tenn., Larry Wayne of Vonore, Tenn., James Overstreet of Alexander and Mark Overstreet of Cabot; daughters, Suzie Compton of Pocahontas and Judy Schweiter of Pemberton, Ohio; brothers, Joe Bailey of Sharps Chapel, Tenn. and Kenneth Bailey of New Tazwell; sister, Helen Halloway of Sharpes Chapel, Tenn.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 Thursday morning in Randolph Memorial Gardens with Calvin Botard officiating.

Billy Baird
POCAHONTAS — Billy Baird, 75, died Thursday.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; a son, James Michael Baird of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Judith Ann Megna of Coloma, Mich.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Williford Cemetery.
Helen Colleen Ball
THAYER, Mo., — Helen Colleen Ball, 72, of Thayer, Mo., formerly of Cave City, died Thursday, July 3, 2008, at her home.
She was born Oct. 19, 1935 to Carl and Dorothy Rinebarger. She had owned the Sugar Shack in Cave City and belonged to Evening Shade First Baptist Church.
Her parents, a son and brother preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Harvey Ball of Ash Flat; son, Donnie K. Ball of Arizona; daughters, Pamela Ball of Pleasant Plains and Cindy Lee of Thayer; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
No services are planned.
Arrangements are by Quall’s Cave City Funeral Home.

MANILA — Retha Faye Box, 42, of Manila died Monday at Manila Nursing Home.
Survivors are father and stepmother, Horace and Julia Box of Manila; mother, Wanda Mason of Lepanto; grandparent, Dora Ruple of Ponotoc, Miss.; sisters, Tanya Fleeman of Manila and Rebecca Grubbs of St. Robert, Mo.; and brothers, Horace Robson of Grady and William Mason of Paragould.
Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at Wilson Funeral Home of Osceola.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Pentecostal Church of Manila with Robert White officiating. Burial will be in Manila Cemetery.
