Janet Ruth Maddox

JONESBORO — Janet Ruth Maddox, 49, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at the family home.

She was born Oct. 19, 1958, in St. Bernards Medical Center at Jonesboro. Janet lived in the Jonesboro area all of her life. She worked as a nurse for many years at Rose Skill Care.

She was preceded in death by her father, G.W. Hanks; one sister, Susan Lynn Hanks; and one grandson, Allen Lynn Hanks.

She is survived by her mother, Pat Hanks; one son, Joshua Cofield; two daughters, Jessica Cofield and Jacqulyn Maddox; four grandchildren, Dillan Lawrence, Devan Hanks, Kaylee Cofield and Joshua Cofield; and two sisters, Tricia Coggins of Jonesboro and Lynnette Jones of Benton.

Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 10 until noon in Emerson Funeral Home.

A graveside service will follow in New Hope Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. The funeral procession will leave Emerson Funeral Home at noon. Pastor Ernest Coleman will officiate.

Active pallbearers will be Mike Hanks, Jesse Hanks, Lynn Jones, Steve Boyd, Jeff Presley and Josh Clevenger.

Betty Richardson

JONESBORO — Betty J. Richardson, 84, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, July 2, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital.

She was born at Cherry Valley to Claude and Bertha May. She was a homemaker and member of Walnut Street Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Bobbie Gann; son, Michael Baugh; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Van Richardson; daughter, Robin Kay Clem; and two brothers, Bobby May and David May.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Swifton Cemetery with Mac Ballard officiating.

Pallbearers will include Randy Blankley, J.Q. Harvey, Horace Crawley and O’dean Templeton.

Visitation will be this evening from 5-7 in Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Mary Agnes Reed

JONESBORO — A memorial service for Mary Agnes Johnson Reed, 65, of Jonesboro, who died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center, will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in Bethesda Worship and Healing Center, 3529 East Nettleton Ave., Jonesboro. Pastor Charles Lathum will officiate.

Survivors include her brothers, Sylvester Joe Johnson of Memphis and Clyde Wesley Johnson of Charleston, S.C.

Betty Sanders

PARAGOULD — Betty Sanders, 72, of Paragould died Wednesday, July 2, at Greene Acres Nursing Home.

Mrs. Sanders was a homemaker and member of Harvest Time Chapel.

Survivors include her husband, Marion C. Sanders; children, Dale Sanders of Paragould, Scottie Sanders of Virginia and Teresa Sheppard of Mountain Home; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be tonight from 6-9 in Mitchell Funeral Home at Paragould.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Gainesville Cemetery. The procession will leave Mitchell Funeral Home at 10:10 a.m. Saturday.

Roy Gene Caldwell

Sept. 19, 1974-July 3, 2008

BIGGERS — Roy Gene Caldwell, 33, died at his home Thursday night.

He was born at Pocahontas.

Survivors include his father, LeRoy Caldwell of Corning; mother and stepfather, Calvin and Sharon Clements of Biggers; sister, Delores Hill of Biggers; brother, Craig Hill of Pocahontas; two nieces, Tiffany Hill of Jonesboro and Emily Hill of Biggers; and grandmother, Faye Kirk of Biggers.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Thaniel Kirk; and sister-in-law, Lisa Hovis.

Graveside services will be today at 2 p.m. in Randolph Memorial Gardens with Gerald Fears officiating.

Donations may be made to the Doni Martin Day Services Center.

Bobby Griffith

PIGGOTT — Bobby Griffith, 67, of Piggott died Thursday, July 3, 2008, at Piggott.

He was the son of Othel and Imperious Helen Griffith.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Griffith of Piggott; son, Byron Scott Griffith of Jonesboro, La.; daughter, Kelly Larae of Arlington, Texas; granddaughters, Kaysee and Shelby Griffith; brother, Terry; and sisters, Shirley, Karen and Belinda.

Services are Monday at 11 a.m. in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Michael Cox officiating. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Sunday at 6 p.m. in the funeral home.

James Newton Murray

POCAHONTAS — James Newton Murray, 87, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2008, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center.

He is survived by two sons, John Murray of Festus, Mo., and Jim Murray of Braunschweig, Germany; four daughters, Virginia Martin of Maynard, Lilly Reece of Ava, Mo., Juley Axsom and Ruth Murray of Gautier, Miss.; 31 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be tonight from 5-8 in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with burial following in Sharum.

Albert Dewight Timbs

TRUMANN — Albert Dewight “Buddy” Timbs, 64, of Trumann died Thursday, July 3, at the family residence at Trumann.

Mr. Timbs was born at Weona and had lived most of his lifetime at Trumann. He was a retired truck driver and of the Pentecostal faith.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Albert D. Timbs Jr. and Jimmy Ray Timbs; one son-in-law, Kerry Cook; two sisters, Joann Williams and Terry Blackwell; one brother, Jimmy Ray Timbs; and his parents, Jim B. and Juanita Penely Timbs.

Survivors include his wife, Betty O’Brien Timbs of the home; one daughter, Terry Cook of Trumann; one son, Larry G. Timbs and wife Linda of Trumann; five sisters, June Goodin, Sherry Jordan, Connie Weatherford and Patty Lancaster, all of Trumann, and Paula Birdsong of Carthage, Tenn.; two brothers, Doug Timbs and Don Timbs, both of Trumann; and two grandchildren, Amber Cook and Jody Cook.

Memorial services will be Sunday afternoon at 3 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home at Trumann with the Rev. Chad O’Brien officiating.

Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 2-3 in Thompson Funeral Home.

Cheryl Ann Vinson

LAKE CITY — Cheryl Ann Vinson, 46, of Lake City died Thursday in Baptist Memorial Hospital at Memphis.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Beatrice Cargill

JONESBORO — Beatrice Cargill, 87, of Jonesboro, formerly of Batesville, died Thursday, July 3, at her home.

Mrs. Cargill was a retired school teacher and a member of Northside Church of Christ at Jonesboro.

Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Diane Garland; a grandson, Jason Garland, and his wife Lori; and great-granddaughters, Kadie and Addison Garland, all of Jonesboro.

Graveside funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Oaklawn Cemetery at Batesville under the direction of Weston Funeral Service of Harrisburg.

There will be a visitation period Tuesday from 2-3 p.m. in Harrison Street Church of Christ at Batesville.

Johnie McMunn

HARRISBURG — Johnie McMunn Jr., 63, of Harrisburg died Friday, July 4, 2008, at Trumann Health and Rehabilitation.

Mr. McMunn was the son of Johnie McMunn Sr. and Bertha Parson.

He is survived by three sons, Robert and Rickey Joe McMunn of Harrisburg and Randy Lee McMunn of Florida; and by several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Casey McMunn.

Graveside service will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Holly Springs Cemetery at Harrisburg. Jackson’s Harrisburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jean Westbrooke Ritter

MEMPHIS — A memorial service for Jean Ritter, formerly of Jonesboro, will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro.

She leaves three children, Rudolph Alwin Ritter Jr., Sarah Harris and Clifton Ritter.
