Val W. Kirby

STRAWBERRY — Val W. Kirby, 100, of Strawberry died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, in White River Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 5, 1907, at Mammoth Spring.

Survivors include his son, Marvin Kirby of Strawberry; daughters, Wilma McGee of Cave City, Louise Gray and Maxine Gray, both of Strawberry; sister, Dorothy Warren of Hermitage, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Strawberry Church of Christ with burial in Ward Cemetery under the direction of Qualls Cave City Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 on the funeral home.

Ruby ‘Polly’ Lloyd

GOSNELL — Mrs. Ruby “Polly” Lloyd, 39, of Gosnell died Tuesday, July 1, in her home.

She leaves her husband, Darrin Ray Lloyd; children, Cody, Trevor and Caitlyn Lloyd; parents, Larry and Irma Green; brother, Larry L. Green; sister, Melinda Key (Mark), all of Gosnell; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Talmage and Joyce Loyd of Blytheville; and brother-in-law, Bobby (Rebecca) Lloyd of Wilson.

Services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. in Cobb Funeral Home at Blytheville with visitation from 1 p.m. until service time in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Faye G. Newcom

BAY — Faye G. Newcom, 80, of Bay died on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, in her residence.

She was born Sept. 2, 1927, at Lake City into the family of Lee and Hettie Maxberry Kirby. She and her late husband were owners of Newcom Salvage. She was a member of Nettleton Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmy and wife Dawn Bowman of Jonesboro, and Bobby and wife Kay Bowman of Warner Robins, Ga.; two daughters, Pat and husband Stanley Gulley of Bay, and Dorothy and husband Lynn Higginbotham of Ace, Texas; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Christine White of Jonesboro.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Hettie Kirby; husband, Herbert Newcom; two grandchildren, Jeff and Doug Gulley; and two brothers, Bud Kirby and Mairl Kirby.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Nettleton Cemetery with the Rev. Harold Ray officiating.

Active pallbearers will include Eddie Ray Bowman, Dean Bowman, Melvin Kirby, Mike White, Rick White and Jimmy Griffin.

Honorary pallbearers will include Randy Bowers and Stevie Gulley.

Visitation will be from 5-8 this evening in Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Marie Qualls

LAKE CITY — Marie Qualls, 77, of Lake City died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at NEA Baptist Medical Center.

She had lived at Lake City most of her life and was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake City.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, D.D. “Red” Qualls, of the home; sons, Terry Qualls of Jonesboro, Danny Qualls and wife, Rhonda of Lake City; three sisters; and one granddaughter, Kelsey Qualls of Springdale.

Graveside services will be today in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Larry Owens officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

For those wishing to leave lasting memorials, the family requests you please consider St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 332 North Lauderdale St. Mail Stop 505, Memphis 38105.

Adam A. Robbins

RAVENDEN — Adam A. Robbins, 79, died in his home Tuesday.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie; 12 sons, James Daniel, Adam Jr., Greg, Steve, Donald, Kenny, Kevin, Michael, Yancy, Joseph, Hans and James; four daughters, MaDonna Anderson, Sandra Bausman, Lelia Smith and Debbie Carlton; and grandchildren, Joshua, Sabrina, Joseph and Charlie.

Visitation will be from 5-7 this evening in McNabb Funeral Home with a service following at 7. Ray Brandonburg, Danny Whitmyer and Beth Reeves will officiate. Burial will be Monday at Clinton, Iowa.

Warren Fred Stovall

VAIL, Colo. — Dr. Warren Fred Stovall, 37, of Vail, Colo., formerly of Blytheville and Jackson, Tenn., died Friday, June 27, at Colorado.

He leaves his wife, Marion Overstreet Stovall; and three children, Jack, Caroline and Kathryn Isabella; mother, Margaret Stovall of Blytheville; stepfather, Bill Stovall III of South Carolina; brother, Adam Stovall; and sister, Bonnie Stovall.

Services will be today at 11 a.m. in Fellowship Bible Church at Jackson with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time. A second visitation will be from 3-4 p.m. today in Cobb Funeral Home at Blytheville.

Robert E. ‘Bob’ Bryan

March 9, 1928-July 2, 2008

CHEROKEE VILLAGE — Robert E. “Bob” Bryan, 80, of Cherokee Village died Wednesday at his residence.

Born at St. Louis to Wilbur and Josephine Nurenburg Bryan, he was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Bryan; daughters, Barbara Thompson, Terry Ann Bryan and Corina Lane; sisters, Joyce Murphy, Sharon Hoskison and Jackie Strini; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Peace Lutheran Church at Cherokee Village with Brian Pummill officiating. Interment will be in Peace Lutheran Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are by Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.

Robert ‘Bobby’ Cox

JONESBORO — Robert “Bobby” Cox, 69, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, July 2, at UAMS in Little Rock.

He was born in DeWitt to Clyde and Leota Cox. He was a retired farmer, member of Walnut Street Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing chess.

He is survived by his wife, Chlorita Cox of the home; two daughters, Deborah Perian Liles and Andrea McAdams, both of Jonesboro; three grandchildren, Hillary Renae Gould, Christopher Robert McAdams and Matthew Michael McAdams; and four sisters, Joyce Griffin, Arnita Reed, Goldine Templeton and JoAnn Davis.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Walnut Street Baptist Church with Glen Putman and Harrison Johns officiating. Burial will follow in Waldenburg Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Michael Davis, Colby Golden, Mitchell Kieffer, John Swartz Jr., Richard Swartz and Arlen Welch.

Honorary bearers will include Glenn Eubanks, Melvin Kieffer, Scott McAdams, Lohnes Tiner and Donald Wright.

Visitation will be Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time in Walnut Street Baptist Church.

Mary Lee Holman

WALNUT RIDGE — Mary Lee Holman, 80, died Thursday, July 3, in St. Bernards Medical Center at Jonesboro.

Formerly of Cash, she had lived at Walnut Ridge for several years.

Survivors include brothers, Terry Smith and wife Sherry, Owen Smith and wife Glenda, Junior Smith and wife Dora, and Buddy Smith and wife Becky; sisters, Bessie Baxter and Helen White; special sister-in-law, Linda Montgomery; two special children, Shalie and C.J.; and several nieces and nephews.

The body was cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge.

Violet Howard

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Violet Howard, 99, of Colorado Springs, formerly of Bay, died Monday, June 30.

Born at Cotton Plant, Violet lived most of her life in Bay. She was an involved member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church before moving to Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny; two daughters; one brother; and one sister.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Carter and husband Kenneth of Colorado Springs; son, Frederick Howard and wife Mable of Winthrop Harbor, Ill.; brother, Cheatham Scott of Cotton Plant; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul Baptist Church at Bay with the Rev. Basil Joiner officiating. Burial will follow in Davis Spur Cemetery at Bay under direction of Woodard Funeral Service of Jonesboro.

Visitation is 10 a.m. until service time Saturday.
