Loyd Eugene Whitford

WYNNE — Loyd Eugene Whitford, 75, of Wynne, died Sunday, March 2, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Mr. Whitford was born in Vanndale and had lived most of his lifetime in Wynne. He was disabled.

Mr. Whitford was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother and his parents, Isaac and Nora Evelyn Waters Whitford.

Survivors include one sister, Mary Elizabeth Lawson of Wynne and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be today at 2 p.m. in Akin Cemetery in Vanndale with the Rev. Maburn Cowan officiating.

Visitation will be today at 1:30 until service time at Akin Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers send memorials to Carrol Owens, 1233 County Road 534, Wynne 72396.

Martha Lou Burns

NEW YORK — Martha Lou Burns, 79, of New York City died Saturday morning in St. Luke’s Hospital at New York City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Jewel Tyler Burns, formerly of Jonesboro.

Survivors include a sister, Deborah Burns of New York City.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Kim Alan Farmer

MARMADUKE — Kim Farmer, 43, of Marmaduke passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 19, 1964, to Bobby and Frances Crouch Farmer at St. Louis. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and did taxidermy in his spare time. He will be missed dearly by his family.

Kim is survived by his wife, Tammy Garrett Farmer; a son and his wife, Bradley and Danielle Farmer, a son; Cody Farmer; a daughter, Morgan Farmer, all of Marmaduke; his parents, Bobby and Frances Farmer of Marmaduke; two brothers, Michael and his wife Dawn Farmer and Jeff Farmer of Marmaduke; two sisters, Shela Farmer and spouse Gene Lamborn and Catherine Farmer Arant of Marmaduke; along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in First Baptist Church at Marmaduke with Kim Bridges officiating. Interment will be in Hartsoe Cemetery at Marmaduke.

Visitation will be tonight at 6 in the church.

Ronnie Joe Holt Sr.

JONESBORO — Ronnie Joe Holt Sr., 59, of Jonesboro went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 10.

He was a truck driver for Circle Delivery Inc. and a member of Temple Baptist Church. A U.S. Army veteran, he served as a mechanic in Germany. He also enjoyed racing.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte E. Rhodes Holt of the home; two sons, David Lee Holt and his wife Jenniffer of Jonesboro and Ronnie Joe Holt Jr. of Trumann; a daughter, Linda and her husband Charles Bryant of Bono; five grandchildren; four brothers, Randy Holt of Watertown, Tenn., Edward Holt of Romeoville, Ill., and Lonnie Holt Jr. and Curtis Holt, both of Jonesboro; and one sister, Regina Bandy of Jonesboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Josephine Holt; a brother, David Holt; two sisters, Claudia Loggains and Mary Moon; and a grandson, Christopher Patrick Bryant.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Pine Log Cemetery with Jerry Jolly officiating.

Pallbearers include Danny Waters Jr., Gary Needham, Dennis Bruce, Steve Heath, Arnold Miller and Danny Waters III.

Honorary bearers include Gary Price and Barry Lamberson.

Visitation will be Monday from 5-8 p.m. in Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Carl James Renshaw

TRUMANN — Carl James Renshaw, 63, of Trumann died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Trumann Health and Rehabilitation at Trumann.

Born at and a lifetime resident of Trumann, he was a farmer and of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Renshaw was preceded in death by three sisters; four brothers; and his parents, Herman Joe and Bernice Long Renshaw.

Survivors include three sisters, Deborah Hartley of Trumann, Betty Williamson of Memphis and Dorothy Stonecipher of Houma, La.; and four brothers, Joe Renshaw of California, David Renshaw of Trumann, Gene Renshaw of Jonesboro and Eddie Renshaw of Memphis.

Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 10 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home at Trumann with the Rev. Larry Tribble officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Springs Cemetery at Harrisburg.

Pallbearers will be Chris Hartley, Todd Hartley, Jerry Barton, Marty Renshaw, Joe Pipkin and Jerry Pipkin Jr.

Visitation will be Monday evening from 5-7 in Thompson Funeral Home.

Donald Eugene Swink

PARAGOULD — Donald Eugene Swink, 69, went to be with his Lord Friday, April 11, 2008, at his home in Paragould, surrounded by members of his family.

He was born Sept. 14, 1938. Donald was a member of the Freedom Worship Center in Paragould, a former employee of the Paragould Police Department, Emerson Electric and Rock Valley College at Rockford, Ill. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Glenna Swink of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Shiena Swink of Paragould; daughters, Kathy Corba of Clio, Mich., and Deborah Bunning of Lakeland, Fla.; sisters, Glenda Kaminer and Sue Kueter of Paragould and Sharon Williams of Davis Junction, Ill.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Bessie Hester Swink; and a brother, Harland “Bud” Swink.

Visitation will be Monday from 6-9 p.m. in Heath Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. William Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Harvey’s Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Shawn McWilliams, Steve Kueter, Stan Self, Scott and Eddie Meredith and Greg Russom.

The family asks that memorials be made to St. Bernards Hospice.

Leonard Lawrence Wood

ARCADIA, Fla. — Leonard Lawrence Wood, 70, of Arcadia died Wednesday, April 9, at his home.

Born in Jonesboro, he was a 1955 graduate of Jonesboro High School and a 1959 graduate of Arkansas State College. He was a USDA inspector and was a distinguished military graduate of the ROTC program, a member of Scabbard and Blade, and was the ROTC Drill Team commander. He loved fishing and cats.

Survivors include a brother, Sammie and his wife Sandra Wood of Cardwell, Mo.; two sisters, Mollie Griffin of Beebe and Thelma and her husband Robert Kern of Jonesboro; three nephews; and two nieces. He will be greatly missed by a large number of hungry cats at Arcadia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie D. and Margie Bell Wood; and a brother, Alvin M. Wood.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Roller-Farmers Union Chapel with the Rev. Brad Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include ROTC cadets.

Visitation will be tonight from 6-8 in the funeral home.

Pauline Darris-Wilson

BLACK ROCK — Pauline Darris-Wilson, 67, of Black Rock died Friday, April 18, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was born on Jan. 25, 1941, at Black Rock, the daughter of Henry and Zamie Neese Darris. Pauline was united in marriage to William Wilson on May 5, 1955, and was a member of Faith of the Apostles Church at Walnut Ridge.

Survivors include husband, William Wilson of the home; three daughters, Sissy Wilson of Black Rock, Margaret Jones of Powhatan and Arlene Beasley of Portia; three sons, Ray Wilson of Tunica, Miss., William Wilson of Hoxie and Jeremy Gilliam of Black Rock; sisters, Henreyetta Twilla, Mageline Davidson, Yevonne Shelton, Cathryn Ferguson, Judy Reynolds and Peggy Haley; brothers, Sammy Darris, Bobby Darris and Jerry Darris; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Higginbotham Chapel at Walnut Ridge. Burial will follow in Oak Forest Cemetery at Black Rock under direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service.

Visitation will be today in the funeral home between 5-8 p.m.

Preston Scott Phillips

PARAGOULD — Preston Scott Phillips, infant son of Jason and Grace Phillips of Paragould, died Friday, April 18, 2008, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kim Bridges officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be tonight from 6-9 in Mitchell Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Benjamin Project.
