OSCAR JOHNSON
IDABEL, Okla. - Oscar Albin Johnson, 93, of Idabel died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at his home.
Mr. Johnson was born March 1, 1910, in St. Olaf, Sweden. He was retired owner of Johnson Instrument Co., Portland, Ore., a gunsmith, 33rd degree Mason, 1961 winner of World Rifle Championship, member of NRA, Kiamichi Rifle and Pistol Club, Knights Templar, Order of the Amaranth, Eastern Star and Idabel United Methodist Church and a World War II Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Johnson.
Survivors include one brother, Robert Johnson of Leawood, Kan.; one sister - in - law, Martha Liechti of Idabel; two nephews and nieces - in - law, Earl and Mary Liechti and Rod and Brenda Liechti of Idabel; and a number of other relatives.
Arrangements are under direction of Norwood - Coffey - Leonard Funeral Home.
JAMES HELMS
IDABEL, Okla. - James W. "Snake" Helms, 73, of Tablerville, Okla., died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004.
Mr. Helms was born March 4, 1930, in Prescott, Ark. He was a retired truck driver and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen; and one grandson, Jim Clark.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Helms of Idabel and Mark Helms of Hochatown, Okla.; one daughter, Tammy Jamerson of Millerton, Okla.; one brother, Bill Helms of Idabel; three sisters, Helen Helms of Angleton, Texas, Juanita Reed of Dallas and Inez Fryar of Clarksville, Texas; two stepbrothers, Cletus Pollard and Theron Pollard; one stepsister, Clovis Whittington; 12 grandchildren; 12 great - grandchildren; and two great - great - grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Jim Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cleatus Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Denison Cemetery.
RAY COX
PRESCOTT, Ark. - Ray Dotson Cox, 76, of Prescott died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, in Texarkana.
Mr. Cox was born Feb. 11, 1928, in Pike City, Ark. He was retired from the oil well industry and a farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Cox; and one granddaughter, Teri LeAnn Ray.
Survivors include one son, Donnie Ray Cox of Blevins, Ark.; two daughters and sons - in - law, Lana and Carson Haynie and Loretta and Nicky Ward of Prescott; three brothers, Huey Cox of McCaskill, Ark., C.B. Cox of Grandbury, Texas, and Buster Cox of Florida; five grandchildren; and four great - grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church with N.C. Bryan, Bill Christian and the Rev. James Williams officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery
under direction of Shackelford Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
LOUISE CANNON
Louise Gretna Cannon, 74, of Texarkana, Ark., died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Cannon was born Feb. 15, 1929, in Texarkana, Texas. She was retired from Coker - Buick.
Survivors include one son, Dank Smith of Texarkana; one daughter, Lena Woods of Waxahachie, Texas; two sisters, Gennie Cannon of Texarkana and Odessa Gamble of Los Angeles; one special friend, Robert Green of Texarkana; two grandchildren; four great - grandchildren; and nine great - great - grandchildren.
Cremation arrangements are under direction of Richardson Hill Funeral Home.
DEWEY HICKS
NASHVILLE, Ark. - Dewey V. Hicks, 84, of Nashville died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, in Murfreesboro, Ark.
Mr. Hicks was born Feb. 13, 1920, in Paragould, Ark. He was a retired REA lineman, a member of Sunset Church of Christ and Veterans of Foreign Wars and a World War II Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Nadine Cooley Hicks of Nashville; one son, Carroll Hicks of Nashville; two daughters and one son - in - law, Betty Turley of Nashville and Carolyn and Benny Frasher of Columbus, Miss.; one brother, Juby Hicks of Yuma, Ariz.; two special relatives, Rhonda McCullough of Dierks, Ark., and Gerri Carter of Irving, Texas; six grandchildren; and eight great - grandchildren.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Latimer Funeral Home Chapel with Ron Reeves, Randy Hughes and Robert Peek officiating. Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

IDA GATHRIGHT
De QUEEN, Ark. - Ida Naomi Elizabeth Hinsley Gathright, 90, of Lockesburg, Ark., died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Gathright was born Jan. 2, 1914, in the Milford community. She was a homemaker and a member of Old Union Missionary Baptist Church, Lockesburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Gibson Gathright, on Sept. 3, 1989.
Survivors include two sons and daughters - in - law, James Alon and Nelda Gathright and Harold Lynn and Willa Gathright of Lockesburg; one brother, Robbie Hinsley of Texarkana; three grandsons, Mike Gathright, Scott Gathright and Toby Gathright of Lockesburg; one granddaughter, Cathy Eason of Lockesburg; six great - grandchildren; two stepgreat - grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Old Union Missionary Baptist Church with Donnie Davis officiating. Burial will be in Lockesburg Cemetery

Samia Reneé Watson, infant daughter of Samuel and Tante Watson of Texarkana, Ark., died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, in a local hospital.
Samia was born Feb. 13, 2004, in Texarkana, Texas.
Other survivors include one brother, Deyvion Watson of Texarkana; one sister, Kee Lescia Gipson of Texarkana; and her grandparents, Louise and Samuel Watson Sr. of Texarkana and George and Doris Williams.
Services will be Saturday in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens with Pastor Hanna officiating. Burial will be under direction of Moore's Funeral Home.

HOPE, Ark. - Daisy Green Hindman, 98, of Hope died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, in a Texarkana hospital.
Mrs. Hindman was born Sept. 12, 1905, in Hempstead County, Ark. She was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Columbus, Ark. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter; and one son.
Survivors include three daughters, Annie Peyton of Little Rock, Katherine Austin of Hope and Ardean Souder of Flint, Mich.; one son, R.L. Hindman of West Memphis, Ark.; one sister, Dora Trotter of Hope; 19 grandchildren; and 25 great - grandchildren.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Columbus. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery
under direction of Hicks Funeral Home.

NASHVILLE, Ark. - Jewel Janette Gathright, 96, of Nashville died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Gathright was born Sept. 4, 1907, in Macon, Ga. She was a retired nurse and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordie Gathright.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Green of Nashville; eight grandchildren; 12 great - grandchildren; nine great - great - grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Antioch Cemetery. Burial will be under direction of Latimer Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
JEFFIE JOHNSON
De QUEEN, Ark. - Jeffie Johnson, 91, of De Queen died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Johnson was born Oct. 14, 1912, in Quitman, Texas. She was a homemaker, retired from De Queen School System and a member of First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gus Johnson, in 1991.
Survivors include two daughters, Jackie Lyons and LaVonne Mullins Tutt of De Queen; one sister, Frankie Brooks of De Queen; six grandchildren; six great - grandchildren; and one great - great - grandchild.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Redmen Cemetery
with the Rev. Bill Fish officiating. Burial will be under direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family will be at the home of Jackie Lyons, 502 N. Bennett, De Queen.

NORMA HAMPTON
NASHVILLE, Ark. - Norma Jean Hampton, 76, of Paducah, Ky., died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004.
Mrs. Hampton was born July 27, 1927, in Tokio, Ark. She was a retired hardware business owner and a Church of Christ member. She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Hampton; and one daughter, Brenda Kay Cothren.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Hastings of Paducah and Chris Hampton of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one son, Robert A. Cothren of Calumet City, Ill.; one sister, Opal Cooley of Nashville; one brother, Grady H. Theobalt of Dallas; and five grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Latimer Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Murfreesboro Cemetery.
