Tressie O. Hall

ASH FLAT — Tressie O. Hall, 82, of Ash Flat, passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, in Ash Flat.

Mrs. Hall was born on Aug. 4, 1925 in Center, the daughter of Tribble T. Heath and Rosalea (Swanford) Heath. She was a graduate of Ash Flat High School. She married Floyd Hall in Ash Flat in 1946. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens and quilt making. She attended Ash Flat Church of Christ.

She is survived by two sons, Larry Joe Hall of Jackson, Mo., and Robert Steven Hall of Bozeman, Mont.; three daughters, Judy Ann Fuechec of El Campo, Texas, Mary Karen Hall of Fayetteville and Verna Jean Quain of Gravette; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers, Elbert, Fibern, Everett, Ocie and Ollie; and one sister, Mattie.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Ash Flat Church of Christ with Jack Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery near Ash Flat.

Visitation will be tonight from 5-7 in Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.

Edward Earl Jones

NEWPORT — Edward Earl Jones, 88, of Newport died Saturday, Sept. 15, at Newport.

He was a manager for Riceland Foods, member of Newport First Baptist Church and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian Mae Davis Jones; son, Edward Davis Jones and wife Beth, all of Newport; two grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Jones and Edward Davis Jones Jr.; twin sister, Pearl Gardner; and two brothers, Joe Jones and John Paul Jones.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Arrangements by Jack­son’s Newport Funeral Home.

Rudolph ‘Rudy’ Loeffler

CHEROKEE VILLAGE — Rudolph “Rudy” Loeffler, 92, of Cherokee Village died Sunday, Sept. 16, at his home.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.

Loyal Jr. Ray Morgan

MEMPHIS — Loyal Jr. Ray Morgan, 75, of Memphis died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at Baptist East Hospital.

“Jr. Ray,” a retired machinist and beloved inventor, lived for family, friends, music, singing and dancing.

He is survived by one son, Benjamin Loyal Morgan; three daughters, Carolyn V. McDaniel of Jonesboro, Melissa F. Corbett and Sandra M. Rutherford, both of Memphis; one brother, Ernest E. Morgan of Florida; and eight grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

William R. ‘Bill’ Moss

TRUMANN — Mr. William Ray “Bill” Moss, 80, of Trumann died Thursday, Sept. 13, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Mr. Moss was born in Trumann and lived for the past 12 years at Plantation Homes, where he enjoyed life and made many friends. He served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War and retired from the Army as 1st sergeant after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, American Legion and Shriners and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Moss; one granddaughter, Wendy Conway Proffitt; seven brothers; and his parents, John Watson and Annie Mae Sanders Moss.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, William Ray Moss Jr. and Diane Moss of Trumann; three sisters, Gracie King, Gladys Moss and Joann “Mildred” Woolbright, all of Trumann; and one brother, Otto “Toad” Moss of Mulberry, Fla.

Funeral services will be private.

Sarah Mae Adams Smullin

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Sarah Mae Adams Smullin, 77, of Poplar Bluff died Saturday, Sept. 15.

She lived in St. Louis for the majority of her life.

Ms. Smullin is survived by two daughters, Brenda Kelly of Wappapello, Mo., and Linda Henson of Poplar Bluff; five brothers, Verlin Adams of Bono, Bill and Buddy Adams of Brookland and Virgil and Gene Adams of Kansas City; two sisters, Aliene Sidenstricker of Jonesboro and Janet Brunson of Kansas City; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Smullin; two sons, Kenneth Emerson Smullin and Norman W. Smullin; one daughter, Carolyn Virginia Smullin; and her parents, Looney and Emma Adams.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Paul White officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Dewayne Hancock, Kenneth Henson, Micheal Hartrup, Steve Terrell, Mike Sullivan and Homer Adams.

Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight in Emerson Funeral Home.

Diane Elizabeth Alexander

CHEROKEE VILLAGE — Diane Elizabeth Alexander, 64, of Cherokee Village died Friday, Sept. 14, in Salem.

She was an electronics assembler.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

She is survived by her husband, Willie; son, Mark of Jonesboro; daughters, Angela Gibson of West Dundee, Ill., Kim Alexander of Ottawa, Ill., Lynette Alexander of Marseilles, Ill., and Carrie Alexander of Cherokee Village; brother, Dale Hoorerbek of Aurora, Ill.; sisters, Yolanda Baylor of Marseilles and Patricia Hartkopp of North Aurora, Ill.; and 11 grandchildren.

Heath Funeral Home of Hardy is in charge of arrangements.

Sara Kay Baty

NEWPORT — Sara Kay Baty, 18, of Newport died Sunday, Sept. 16.

She is survived by her parents, Johnny Ray and Sharon Baty of Newport; brothers, Shane Baty of Newport, Justin King of Springdale and William Baty of Booneville; sisters, Melissa Dean and Lindsey Dean, both of Newport; grandfather, Alford Dean of Tuckerman; and grandmother, Lucille Baty of Newport.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Dillinger Chapel with burial in Watson Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6-8 in the funeral home. Arrangements are by Dillinger Funeral Home.

Sammie Lee Brown

OSCEOLA — Sammie Lee Brown, 77, of Osceola died Monday, Sept. 17, 2007.

He was a farmer and Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his sister, Flora Ella Thurman of Lansing, Mich.; brother, Johnny Brown of West Memphis; and special niece, Linnie Davis of Osceola.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Blanchie Brown.

Services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. in St. John Full Gospel Church at Osceola with burial in Rivercrest Gardens at Marie. The Rev. R.L. Johnson will officiate.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 at Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola.

Denny Ray Campbell

BLYTHEVILLE — Denny Ray Campbell, 57, of Blytheville died Friday, Sept. 14, at his home.

He leaves his mother, Mrs. Odell Campbell, and wife, Sharon Goodman Campbell, both of Blytheville; sons, Denny Ray Campbell Jr. (Wendy) of Dell and Jesse Paul Campbell and fiancee Chasity Sykes of Blytheville; daughter, Brandy Jo Jeffery (Brad) of Franklin, Tenn.; sisters, Ella Kay Marr of Blytheville, Bonnie Sue Meade (Sam) of Trenton, Ohio, and Shelia Joy Kendrick (Bobby) of Armorel; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be today at 1:30 p.m. in Cobb Funeral Home at Blytheville with burial in Dogwood Cemetery.

Daundra A. Carlton

DYESS — Daundra Annette Proffitt Carlton, 43, of Dyess died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, in NEA Medical Center at Jonesboro, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Jan. 19, 1964, at Lepanto. She was a lifelong resident of Dyess and member of Dyess Central Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school.

She is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Dwayne Carlton; beloved sons, Bryce Proffitt and Clayton Carlton, all of Dyess; father, Billy W. Proffitt of Jonesboro; brothers, David Proffitt of Mobile, Ala., Dr. Danny Proffitt of Fayetteville and Dawayne Proffitt of Jonesboro; beloved sisters, Darlene Richmond of Dyess and Dametra Hodges of Jonesboro. She also leaves 12 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Vivian Proffitt.

Services will be today at 10:30 a.m. in Eastside Baptist Church at Osceola. Burial will be in Potter’s Cemetery at Lepanto with Mike Gonzales officiating.

Visitation was held Monday from 5-9 p.m. in the church.

Memorials may be made to Dyess Central Baptist Church building fund or the charity of one’s choice.
