HICKORY RIDGE -- Mrs. Eva Phillips, 83, of Hickory Ridge passed away Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006 in Wynne Health Care Center, Wynne.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Clarence Waller and Letitia Barbara Murphy Waller; husband, Willis Phillips, in 1993; brother, Roy Waller; and sister, Mary Brooks.
Mrs. Phillips was a lifelong resident of Cross County. She was a member of the Hickory Ridge Church of Christ and Tilton EHC.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry Phillips of Jonesboro, Billy Phillips of Hickory Ridge, Roger Phillips of Hickory Ridge, Rickey Phillips of Weiner and Gary Phillips of Salem; daughter, Phyllis Kennon of Wynne; sister, Jane Huggler of Little Rock; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Hickory Ridge Church of Christ at 3 p.m. today. Burial will follow in Lewis Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 2-3 p.m. before the service.

Mary Katheryn Roark
WYNNE -- Mary Katheryn Roark, 86, of Wynne passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006 in CrossRidge Community Hospital.
Mrs. Roark was a graduate of Hickory Ridge High School. She was a longtime member of the Hickory Ridge Church of Christ. Mrs. Roark was a homemaker and lived all of her adult life in Cross County.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Roark of Hickory Ridge; daughter, Janie Eppes of Hickory Ridge; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be today at 10 a.m. in Hickory Ridge Church of Christ. Burial will be in Lewis Cemetery.
Blaine Lee Rogers
POCAHONTAS -- Blaine Lee Rogers, 38, of Pocahontas died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006.
Survivors include his mother, Jane Taylor Rogers of Pocahontas; brother, Donald Wayne Rogers of Little Rock; sister, Charlotte Lynn Murray of Pocahontas; niece, Taylor Paige Murray of Pocahontas; and many friends.
There will be a celebration of Blaine's life Friday evening at the Modern Day Vets on Highway 115 North. The family will receive friends and guests from 5-7 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 7 conducted by Roger Eveland.

Joe Bob Rogers
PARAGOULD -- Joe Bob Rogers, 80, died Wednesday, Dec. 13 at Paragould.
He was born July 20, 1926 at Oran, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Velma Blansett Rogers; and a sister, Lugene Rogers.
He is survived by his son, Dennis Rogers of Yazoo City, Miss.; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Jo Ann Wright of Paragould; four granddaughters and one grandson, Shellei Rowe and Whitney Nelson, both of Paragould, Morgan White, Skylar Rogers and T.D. Havens, all of Yazoo City; seven great-grandchildren, Allison and Olivia Rowe, Sydney and Cade Nelson, Danyale and Hannah Havens and Raegann White; and one brother, Kenneth Rogers of League City, Texas.
Visitation will be Friday from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. in the Heath Colonial Chapel with Kelly Wright and Mike Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.
Edward Philip Sutton
ARCADIA, Mo. -- Edward Philip Sutton, 88, of Arcadia, Mo., formerly a longtime resident of Jonesboro, passed away Dec. 13, 2006.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Edith Tomlison Sutton; one sister; one brother; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. under the direction of Bryson Funeral Home of Pilot Knob, Mo., (573) 546-6103.
His final resting place will be in Arcadia Valley Cemetery.
Lasting memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Joseph P. Taylor
JONESBORO -- Joseph Taylor, 64, died Dec. 8, 2006.
Joseph was raised in Jonesboro.
He was a veteran of the Air Force and a self-employed businessman.
He was currently attending Precious Love Church.
Survivors include his sons, Famous Taylor of Jonesboro and Tobias Thompson of Omaha, Neb.; daughters, Sabrina Jordan and Helen Taylor, both of Newcastle, Del.; brothers, Gerald Cole and Lawrence Cole, both of Atlanta, and Tommy Lancaster of Fresno, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services are Saturday at noon in First Baptist Church with Minister Dorsey McCullough officiating.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery
under the direction of Woodard Funeral Service.
Visitation is Friday from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
Larry Dean Tilley
POCAHONTAS -- Larry Dean Tilley, 46, died Wednesday, Dec. 13.
He was an Army veteran.
Survivors include his mother, Marie Gaither of Pocahontas; wife, Mabel Tilley of Pocahontas; son, Doyle Tilley and daughter, Carrie Tilley, both of Pocahontas; sisters, Janet Eley of Pocahontas and Joanie Firebaugh of Fredricktown, Mo.; and brothers, Ronnie Tilley of Pocahontas and Terry Tilley of St. Louis.
Graveside services with military honors will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Johnston Cemetery
at Reyno with Brian Malone officiating. Services are under the direction of Cox-Waymon Funeral Home of Pocahontas.

WYNNE -- Shawnte Ranell Walker, 25, of Wynne died Dec. 8, 2006 in St. Bernards Medical Center.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Union Valley Missionary Baptist Church at Wynne with burial to follow in Cogbill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel at Wynne.

Joseph Wayne Ward
PARAGOULD -- Joseph Wayne Ward, 80, of Paragould, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, in Memphis Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Ward was a Navy veteran and retired from the Arkansas Employment Security Division.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Ward of Paragould; one stepson, Tommy Galloway of North Carolina; one granddaughter, Amber Galloway; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Hallie Ward; and by one son, Jim Ward.
Visitation will be today from 6-9 p.m. in Mitchell Funeral Home at Paragould.
Funeral service will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. in Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Hartsoe Cemetery.

COLOGNE, Germany -- Mrs. Ilse Alber, 78, of Cologne-Rath, Germany, passed away on Monday, Dec. 18, 2006.
Survivors include her husband, Fritz Alber of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Klaus and Ute Alber of Cologne-Rath; her cousin, Margarete Reed of Monette; and many other relatives.
Funeral services will be held in St. Cornelius Catholic Church at Cologne-Rath on Wednesday, Dec. 27, with burial in the cemetery adjacent to the church.

J.D. Arland Atchison
JONESBORO -- J.D. Arland Atchison, 85, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, in St. Bernards Medical Center.
Born at Light on Sept. 26, 1921, he was a retired electrician for General Tire and Rubber Co., Penn Athletic Division, a former employee with Frolic Footwear Co and a self-employed electrician.
He was a member of Nettleton United Methodist Church and the American Legion. He was in the Army Air Force during World War II, having served in England. J.D. enjoyed camping and fishing with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Bessie Chadwick Atchison; and one sister, Oma Ayars.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Atchison of the home; a daughter, Shirley Watkins of Jonesboro; a granddaughter, Marie Kathleen Chrisman and her husband Eric; two great-grandsons, Eric Maxwell Chrisman and Nicholas Dale Chrisman, all of Marion; one sister, Wanda Bulla of Jonesboro; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, in Gregg Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harmon Whitehurst officiating. Entombment will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
Honored to serve as active pallbearers are Kevin Chadwick, Wayne Chadwick, Brian Tyler, Ernest Tyler, Matt Houston and Steve Welch.
