JONESBORO -- Mrs. Thelma Geneva Johnson, 79, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, Nov. 8.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and have been entrusted to Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Carroll Damon Jones
POCAHONTAS -- Carroll Damon Jones, 57, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006.
He served as a Green Beret during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his son, Damon Keith Jones of Pocahontas; brothers, Dale Jones of Peoria, Ill., Lloyd Jones of Pocahontas and Don Jones of Ocean Springs, Miss.; sister, Mary Joyce Durbin of Pocahontas; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Friday in Cox-Waymon Funeral Home of Pocahontas.
There will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for final expenses.
Sherita Lanell Lacy
JONESBORO -- Sherita Lacy, 52, died Nov. 5, 2006.
Sherita came to Jonesboro from Newport to attend Arkansas State University, and made it her home.
She was a speech pathologist and worked at CRDC in the Head Start program. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth; daughter, Kinya Lacy of Jonesboro; son, Christopher Brandon Lacy of Jonesboro; brothers, Kenneth Tate Sr. of St. Louis and Vaughn Tate of Germany; sisters, Hildegard Jones of Newport, Cassandra Smith and Valerie Ragland, both of St. Louis; and two grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with Kevin Lacy officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery
under the direction of Woodard Funeral Service.
Visitation is from 1-2 p.m. before the service.
Mary Idona White Lasley
PARAGOULD -- Mary Idona White Lasley, 90, of Paragould, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, in Senath Nursing Home at Senath, Mo.
Mary was a self-employed seamstress and was a member of Grace United General Baptist Church. She was born July 25, 1916, in Paragould, the daughter of the late Homer and Viola Kegley Poe.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Earnest White; her second husband, Roy Lasley; and her brother, Ellis Poe.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Ed Keating of Cardwell, Mo., and Karen and Randy Gott of Harri-son; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Deborah White of Paragould, and Roger and Donna White of Imperial, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday in Heath Funeral Home.
Her life will be celebrated in Heath Colonial Chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Royce Schanda and the Rev. Leland Dement officiating. Interment will follow in Cardwell Cemetery
at Cardwell.
Pallbearers are Keith White, Corey Keating, Shawn White, Scott Manchester, Tony Manchester, Pete Cancilla, Michael Frias and Michael Ybarra.
Honorary pallbearers are Kevin, Brian and Eric White.
Ulysses Rudd
NEWPORT -- Mr. Ulysses Dominic Wesley Rudd, 26, of Newport died Wednesday.
He was born July 22, 1980 at Houston, Texas.
Survivors include his father, Ronnie Rudd; mother, Pamela Meeks Rudd; brother, Triston Rudd; grandparents, A. D. and Phyliss Rudd, and Jack and Mavis Meeks; special aunt, Darlene Shipman and husband, Wayne, of Jonesboro; uncles, Roger Rudd, Paul Meeks and Mike Meeks; and several cousins.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Jackson's Newport Funeral Home. Interment will be in Clark Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.
Ann Tansley
JONESBORO -- Ann Tansley, 84, died Nov. 4 in her home.
Born in Mississippi, she had lived in Jonesboro since 1940. She was a nutrition aide for the Cooperative Extension Service, member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and member of Golden Rule Lodge #395 of the Eastern Star.
Her husband, Johnny, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter, Sonja Williams, and son-in-law, Samuel Williams, of the home; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul Baptist Church with the Rev. Bradley House officiating. Burial will follow in Knights of Pythias Cemetery
under the direction of Woodard Funeral Service of Jonesboro.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Jimmy Dale Waters
HARRISBURG -- Mr. Jimmy Dale Waters, 57, of Harrisburg died Tuesday morning in St. Bernards Medical Center at Jonesboro.
He was born at Trumann and had lived most of his lifetime in the Trumann area before moving to Harrisburg. He was disabled and of Baptist faith.
Mr. Waters was preceded in death by his father, Henry Nelson Waters, in 1963; three brothers, Charles "Buddy," Danny and Phillip Waters; and one sister, Bobbie Harlan.
Survivors include his mother, Mable A. Blasingame Waters Haws; five sisters, Joyce Adams, Euguinda Parnell, Donna Miles and Kay Heeb, all of Harrisburg, and Melisha Gross of Trumann.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home at Trumann with the Rev. Jerry Kausler officiating. Burial will follow in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery
at Harrisburg.
Pallbearers will be nephews Danny Waters Jr., Phillip Waters Jr., Kenny Potts, Jeremy Pyburn, Chris Adams, Thomas Adams, David Miles, Marc Miles, Stephen Parnell, Dalton Waters and Michael Harlan.
Visitation will be from noon-1:30 p.m. today in Thompson Funeral Home at Trumann.
Mary Watkins
JONESBORO -- Mary Watkins, 89, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, Nov. 8 in St. Bernards Medical Center.
Born at Vaughn, N.M., she lived in Memphis 20 years and spent most of her life in the Jonesboro area. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her son, Gary Watkins of Jonesboro; sister, Nell Pilgrim of Texas; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Watkins, two brothers and one sister.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Nettleton Cemetery
with Graig Stull officiating.
Mike Croy
PARAGOULD -- Mike Croy, 53, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, in his residence.
Mike was a rancher, retired from the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department, and an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.
Mike is survived by his wife, Carol Croy of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Justin Berg of Stuttgart; his mom, Essie Abbott of Thayer, Mo.; his mother and stepfather, Mildred Barthlomee and Bill Shilvock of Thayer; sister and brother-in-law, Marcia and Bill Mayse of Sunnyvale, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Pat Shilvock of Saddle.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Shorty Abbott.
Visitation will be today from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in Heath Funeral Home.
A celebration of his life will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Revs. Ken Overton and Raymond Atwood officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Carlos Eason, Buck Markum, Scott Kelley, W. D. Newsom, Harry Wayne Willcockson, Joe Watson, Danny Andrews and Dean May.
Honorary pallbearers will be Greene County Highway Department, District 10 Highway Department, Bud Myers and Jerry Taylor.
The family requests that memorials be made to Arkansas Cancer Research Center at UAMS or Arkansas Baptist Children's Home.
Harry Lee Eastworth
PARAGOULD -- Harry Lee Eastworth, 65, of Paragould died Friday, Nov. 10, in his residence.
Born at Jonesboro, he lived around Jonesboro most of his life, moving to Paragould about one year ago. He was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include five cousins, Don and wife, Bobbie Hindman of Sherwood, Bobbie Hindman of Jonesboro, Robert Hindman of Freeport, Texas, Janice Huffstickler of Des Arc and Ronnie Hindman of Lonoke.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Graveside services and burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Strawfloor Cemetery.
