Carrie Foster
NEWPORT -- Carrie Foster, 99, of Newport died Sunday.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; son, John Ervin Foster; and two sisters.
Survivors include sons, Virgil Foster of Tuckerman and Bobby Glenn Foster of Vilonia; stepson, L.G. Foster of Tuckerman; daughters, Madge Laverne Truett of Bald Knob, Betty Jo Hardin of Springdale and Anna Elizabeth Webster of Tuckerman; 25 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gracelawn Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. today in Jackson's Funeral Home.
Arrangements are by Jackson's Funeral Home.
Wanda Rogers Gerety
HAZEN -- Wanda Rogers Gerety, 82, of Hazen passed away July 2, 2006.
Wanda was born Sept. 13, 1923, at Rogers Chapel, to Frank Eugene and Mona Beatrice Pirtle Rogers.
Her childhood was spent in Hazen where she met John Bernard Gerety, an airman from Effingham, Kan.
They were married on Nov. 26, 1945, and lived their lives at Hazen.
She was a member of Elsie McCain Club and was an avid bridge player and a loyal "back of the bus" Razorback fan.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church at Hazen.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, John Bernard Gerety Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Suzy Gerety Schrantz and husband, Jim of Jonesboro; two sons, John Bernard Gerety Jr. and wife, Debbie of North Little Rock, and Richard Franklin Gerety of Palm Harbor, Fla.; and her brother, Frank Eugene Rogers Jr. of Hazen.
Wanda, nicknamed Wannie or Momma Won, enjoyed five grandchildren, Mark and Michael Gerety and Steve, John, and Suzy Schrantz.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today in Westbrook Funeral Home at Hazen.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Hazen First United Methodist Church.
Interment will be in Hazen Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hazen First United Methodist Church, Hazen Cemetery
or the American Cancer Society.
Bobby Ray Hicks
OSCEOLA -- Bobby Hicks, 76, of Osceola died July 1, 2006.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sons, Timothy Hicks and Carl Hicks.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda May, Tammy Kent and Bobbie Jo Lee; four sons, Larry Hicks, Lonnie Hicks, Jerry Hicks and Bobby Allen Hicks; two sisters, June Fennel and Betty Adair; 24 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola. Burial is in Sandyridge Cemetery
at Burdette.
Visitation is from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mary Martin
WALNUT RIDGE -- Mary Martin, 88, died Sunday, July 2, 2006, at Walnut Ridge. She lived in Walnut Ridge as a homemaker and a member of Main Street Church of Christ.
She is survived by three daughters, Shirley Fears and Sue Crum of Walnut Ridge, and Helen Arnold of North Little Rock; two sons, Jim Martin of Newport and Ricky Martin of Jonesboro; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A graveside service is 10 a.m. today in Lawrence Memorial Park at Walnut Ridge.
Ruby Mullen
TRUMANN -- Mrs. Ruby Mullen, 102, of Trumann died Sunday July 2, 2006, in Lakeside Nursing Center at Lake City.
She was born in Red River County, Texas, and had lived most of her lifetime in Trumann. She was a retired factory worker for the former Singer Company and of the Protestant faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Mullen in 1937; two sisters, Amy Drew and Allie Whittaker; and her parents, Alvin and Carrie Doyle Canterbury.
Survivors include five nieces, Barbara Brown of St. Louis, Carolyn Wilson and Sharon Robbins, both of Trumann, Ruby Couch of Jonesboro and Ruby Johnson of Southaven, Miss.; three nephews, Donald Drew of Versailles, Mo., Neil Whittaker of Jonesboro and Danny Drew of Southaven, Miss.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home at Trumann with the Rev. Garvin Pulley officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery
at Walnut Ridge.
Pallbearers will be Brian McElyea, Richard Hayes, Dan Drew, Matt Drew, Kevin Drew and Derek Hayes.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today in Thompson Funeral Home.
Charles Raymond Pickney
PARAGOULD -- Charles Raymond "Chuck" Pickney, 74, of Paragould died Monday, July 3, 2006, in his home at Paragould.
A celebration of his life will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 6, at the Heath Colonial Chapel with the Revs. Paul DuBar and Zach Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 5, from 6-8 p.m. at Heath Funeral Home.
Elbert L. Ray
MONETTE -- Elbert L. Ray, 80, of Monette died Monday, July 3, 2006, in St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Betty Grace Snellgrove
JONESBORO -- Betty Grace Snellgrove, 84, of Jonesboro died Sunday, July 2, 2006, in St. Elizabeth's Place.
She had lived her life in Jonesboro and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was a PEO member and past president, life member of Jonesboro Junior Auxiliary, Ladies Golf Association and Pi Beta Phi at University of Arkansas.
She married Frank Snellgrove on Sept. 7, 1947.
She was a graduate of Jonesboro High School in 1939, attended Christian College in Colombia, Mo., for two years and graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1943.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. P.W. Lutterloh, and one brother, Paul Lutterloh.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Snellgrove; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Mary Snellgrove; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Mark Huffer; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Private services were held Monday in Oaklawn Cemetery
with the Rev. Emil Williams officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Lawrence Tankersley
DUDLEY, Mo. -- Lawrence "Larry" Tankersley, 83, of Dudley, Mo., died June 30, 2006. He was a tool and die maker.
Survivors include his wife, Hester Tankersley; three sons, Lawrence, Larry and Dennis Tankersley; three daughters, Judy Latronico, Linda Hammerlie and Leslie Potter; a sister, Betty Goodon of Jonesboro; 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be noon Thursday in Baue Chapel of St. Charles, Mo. Interment will follow in St. Charles Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. in Baue Funeral Home on Wednesday.
Waukeen Bateman
PARAGOULD -- Waukeen Bateman, 86, of Paragould died July 4, 2006, in his home.
He was born June 25, 1920, at Rector, the son of the late Harrison and Zoe Hardin Bateman.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Bateman; stepsons, Phillip and Nickie Davis; granddaughter, Kimberly Fletcher; and sisters, Hope Matthews and Glory Faith Golden.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Dale Copher of North Port, Fla., and Kay and Buddy Fletcher of Paragould; brother, Maurice Bateman of Paragould; grandchildren, Johnna Disanto, Phyllis Ford, Christy Himschoot, Sabrenia Liddell, Kelly Shaddy, Phillip Davis and Justin Fletcher; and seven great-grandchildren.
His life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Terry Songer officiating. Burial will follow at Piggott Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Kenneth Reeks, Earl Gene Beeler, J.H. Burton, Paul Exum, Tracy Morgan and Bill Potter.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday in Heath Funeral Home.
Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
