Margie Wilson
Margie Wilson, 69, of Van Buren, loving mother, wife and grandmother, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was born Nov. 8, 1934, in Mulberry to Azo Nichols and Vidia (Pruitt). She was a homemaker and a Pentecostal.
She is survived by her husband, James Wilson of Van Buren; daughters, Brenda Hamilton and husband, Nooch of Fort Smith, Susan Barnes and husband, Aubry of Ozark, and Carolyn Robinson of Ozark; sons, Charles Wilson of Ozark, Jimmy Wilson of Fort Smith, and Bobby Wilson of Webb City; a sister, Ruby Hefner of Van Buren; grandchildren, Joshua Barnes, Tuesday Brown, Shareef Brown, Chris Barnes, Tina Barnes, Sean Barnes, Amanda Thomas, Guin Thomas, Sherry Barnes, Joseph Barnes, Macie Wilson, Joseph Cole, Jennifer Howard, Dion Cole and Bobby Wilson Jr.; great-grandchildren, Myshael Brown, Jasmine White, Xavier Brown, Blane McGee, Kaden Hodge, Cheyenne Howard and Katelyn Howard; and more loving family and friends.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial at Cemetery
Ridge Cemetery
in Ozark with the Rev. Pat Wilson officiating.
Pallbearers will be Charles Wilson, Shareef Brown, Joseph Cole, Guin Thomas Jr., Don Ragains, Tuesday Brown and Gary Vickers.
The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
David H. Cole
David H. Cole, 51, of Alma died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at a local hospital. He was the owner and operator of David Cole Bail Bonds in Van Buren and was a member of The American Miniature Horse Registry.
Graveside service was held Sept. 20 at Roselawn Cemetery
in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Pauletta of the home; three daughters, Kerry Ryan of The Woodlands, Texas, and Amanda Rogers and Kristy Dunn, both of Van Buren; one son, Kevin Cole of Naperville, Ill.; two brothers, Bill Cole of Murrieta, Calif., and Bob Cole of Paris; and four grandchildren.

Peggy Knight
Mrs. Peggy June Moore Knight, 75, of Fort Smith, formerly of Van Buren, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at a local hospital. She was a retired loan officer with Wells-Fargo Bank in North Long Beach, Calif., and a member of AARP and the Order of the Eastern Star, Fort Smith Chapter 237. Her husband, Frank O. Knight Sr., preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter, Debbie McKenzie of Twenty-Nine Palms, Calif.; three sons, Frank Knight Jr. of Fort Smith, Ronald Knight of Van Buren and Larry Knight Sr. of Alma; a brother, Don Moore of Fort Smith; an aunt, Patricia Bell of Fort Smith; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held Sept. 21 at the U.S. National Cemetery
in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Jim Hadley, Lance Knight, Larry D. Knight, Josh Knight and Travis Smith.
Diane Tugg
Diana Sellers Tugg, 44, of Van Buren died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, in Brinkley. She was a homemaker and a member of Catcher Freewill Baptist Church.
Graveside service was held Sept. 22 at Gill Cemetery
Arbor in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by her husband, Wilburn; a daughter, Kristie Hile of Fort Smith; two sons, Michael Seller of Fort Smith and Randy Sellers of Van Buren; her mother, Martha Howard of Van Buren; a brother, Robert Howard of Van Buren; and seven grandchildren.
Martha Dukes
Martha Lee Dukes, 73, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at her home. She was a retired employee of O.K. Foods.
She is survived by her husband, James; two daughters, Sharon Mahan of Fort Smith and Martha Dehart of Mustang, Okla.; five sons, James Dukes Jr. of Alma, John and Trey Dukes, both of Fort Smith, Jack Dukes of Phoenix and Jessie Dukes of Snowflake, Ariz.; three sisters, Evelyn Washburn and Maudie Miller, both of Phoeniz, and Mary Best of Shelbyville, Tenn.; two brothers, John Farrow of Phoeniz and Donny Farrow of Shelbyville, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Sept. 22 at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Woodland Memorial Park in Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were Bobby Dehart Jr., Randy Dehart, Jim, Jerry, John and Jack Dukes.
Jack Vaughn
Jack Dwayne Vaughn, 76, of Alma died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, in Van Buren. He was born May 12, 1928, in Huntsville. He was a retired state trapper, Navy veteran, member of Belle Point Lodge No. 20, Free and Accepted Masons in Fort Smith, Western Arkansas Scottish Rite Bodies in Fort Smith and Liberty Chapter No. 402, Order of the Eastern Star and a former member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows.
Graveside service was held Sept. 22 at Alabam Cemetery
with Masonic rites by Huntsville Lodge No. 364, Free and Accepted Masons, under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville.
He is survived by two daughters, Ann Phillips of Springdale and Jackie Bales of Marion, S.C.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
William Ray
William “Bill” Perry Ray, 76, died Sept. 13, 2004, at a San Bernardino, Calif., hospital. He was born May 3, 1928, in Van Buren and was preceded in death by his wife, Lois.
Survivors include a daughter, Pricilla Dunham of Perris, Calif.; two brothers, W.C. Ray of Hanford, Calif., and Howard Ray of Dallas; three sisters, Dorothy Hatfield and Brucilla Matthews, both of Van Buren, and Peggy Baldwin of Ozark; one stepdaughter, one stepson, five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildern and one great-great-grandchild.
Inez Dipboye
Inez Dipboye, 96, of Van Buren died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at a local nursing home. She was a homemaker and widow of John F. “Doc” Dipboye.
Survivors include three sons, Forrest Dipboye of Springdale, Dale Dipboye of Van Buren and Richard Dipboye of Sand Springs, Okla.; two sisters, Vivian Oliver of Van Buren and Geneva Bell of Roseville, Calif., and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Sept. 22 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Gill Cemetery
in Van Buren.
Pallbearers were her grandchildrern.
Robert Powell
Robert E. Powell, 39, of Kibler died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at a local hospital. He was born Aug. 4, 1965, in Van Buren. He attended God’s Harvest Church in Alma and was a former employee of Farmers Co-op.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry; four daughters, Debbie Vargas of Ozark, Miranda DeLeon of Van Buren, Tasha Powell of Alma and Robin Powell of the home; four stepdaughters, Brittany and Olivia Powell, both of the home, Stephanie Mills of Alma and Amy Parchcorn of Barling; his mother, Maxine Powell of Ozark; a sister, Becky Powell of Van Buren; five brothers, Richard and Shawn Powell, both of Van Buren, Clint and Ricky Powell, both of Oklahoma, and Danny Powell of Ozark; two grandchildren and six stepgrandchildren.
Funeral service was held Sept. 22 at Ocker Funeral Home Chapel in Alma. The body will be cremated.
Pallbearers were Frank Vargas, Homer DeLeon and Dustin, Brant, Derrick and Devin Powell.
Danny Teague
Danny Lee Teague, 57, of Van Buren died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at a local hospital. He was of the Baptist faith, welder, homebuilder and longstanding member and top player for the Fort Smith Pool League. He was a past supervisor for the Fort Smith Water Department.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; one daughter, Angela Teague of San Diego, Calif.; three sons, Jason Teague of Fort Smith; Shane Napier of Van Buren and Kevin Teague of the home; four sisters, Betty Flurry of Roland, Linda Comstock of Hackett and Ruby Tugg and Brenda Hurston, both of Fort Smith; and three brothers, John Teague and William Teague, both of Roland, and Roy Teague of Jenny Lind.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Forest Park Cemetery
in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson St., Van Buren.
