Barbara Gregory
Barbara Gregory, 62, of Alma died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at her home. She was of the Southern Baptist faith and a member of the Crawford County Horseman’s Association.
Survivors include her husband, John Ben Gregory Sr.; one daughter, Carrie Lynn Scott of Alma; two sons, John Ben Gregory Jr. and Robert Darrell Gregory, both of Alma; two sisters, Alta Jean Jones of Van Buren and Sharon Sue Jones of Short, Okla.; three brothers, Archie Darrell Peters, Fay Junior Peters and Curtis Dale Peters, all of Van Buren; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ocker of Alma Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Greogry Cemetery in Alma under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Lynn Gregory, Brandon Jones, Roger Foss, J.P. Gregory, Jason Kimes, Matthew Gregory, Ralph Jones and Austin Gregory.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ocker Funeral Home, 917 Highway 64 East, Alma.

Phyllis June Brown
Phyllis June “Boots” Brown, 70, of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, with her daughter at her side.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Blessing Colonial Chapel. She will be laid to rest with her parents and family in Winfield, Kan. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Blessing Funeral Home of Mansfield, Texas.
Phyllis was born Nov. 12, 1932, in Canton, Kan. She retired from Hiram Walker & Son Bottling Co. in Fort Smith. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star. Phyllis moved to Grand Prairie in 1998 to help care for her granddaughter. Her mother and father, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter, Joni Brown of Grand Prairie; a granddaughter, Marissa of Grand Prairie; Marissa’s great-grandmother, Lottie Brown of Oilton, Okla.; and Marissa’s grandfather, Billy “Bear” Brown of Fort Smith; numerous nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

Dorothenia Bates
Dorothenia R. Bates, 82, of Van Buren died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Clara Mantooth of Fort Smith and Donna Matlock of Fayetteville; three sons, Darrell, Archie and Eugene Bates, all of Van Buren; one sister, Goldie Ritter of Fort Smith; one brother, Archie Reynolds of Van Buren; and 11 grandchildren.
Graveside service was held Feb. 18 at Mount McCurry Cemetery at Rudy under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Fuenral Home.

Jerry Cormack
Jerry Eugene Cormack, 70, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, in Fort Smith. He was of the Baptist faith, a member of the pastor’s class of the First Baptist Church in Fort Smith and was retired from James River-Dixie Cup after four and a half years.
He is survived by his wife, Suzann; two daughters, Holly Plunkett and Carol Holmes, both of Van Buren; a son, Mike Cormack of Van Buren; two sisters, Helen Huckelbury of Van Buren and Opal Lake of Shreveport, La.; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 19 at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were Les Beckham, Marvin Robbins, Larry Williams, Glen Fowler, Charles Cormack and Ronald Vail.

Willie Moore
Willie “Bill” Moore, 78, of Van Buren died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at a local hospital. He was a former resident of Mineola, Texas, who had lived in Crawford County for the past 10 years. He was a retired logger for a timber mill and was of the Pentecostal faith.
He is survived by two daughters, Vickie Falcon of Elkins and Shirley Rickey of Mineola, Texas; five sons, Richard and Gilbert Moore, both of Catoosa, Okla., Billy Moore of Salt Lake City, Kenny Moore of Elkins and Donnie Moore of Pryor, Okla.; three sisters, Stella Medlock of Dyer, Virginia Allen of Mountainburg and Ellen Bright of Muskogee, Okla.; six brothers, Olen Moore of Wichita, Kan., Dwight, Paul and Clyde Moore, all of Okmulgee, Okla., Raymond Moore of Welden, Texas, and John Moore of Stockton, Texas; 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 19 at Locke Faith Assembly of God with burial at Locke Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Ritchie, Thomas, Ken and Michael Moore, Randy Falcon and Troy Warren. Honorary pallbearers were Doyle Medlock, Brian Moore and Paul Moore Jr.

Nora Lamproe
Nora Faye Lamproe, 76, of Uniontown died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, in Uniontown. She was a homemaker and widow of Raymond Z. Lamproe.
Survivors include two daughters, Lela Faye Stevens of Roland and Dovie Lamproe of Fort Smith; four sons, Raymond B. Lamproe of Cedarville, Rallin John Lamproe and Will James Lamproe, both of Uniontown, and Joe D. Lamproe of Roland; two sisters, Mary Reed and Dorothy Dean Reed, both of Van Buren; John D. Lowery of Shady Grove, Ore., and Lee Vernon Lowery of Van Buren; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held Feb. 19 at Bryant Cemetery in Cedarville under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Tony Floyd, Calvin Phillips, James Parmenter, Daniel Lamproe, Jeff Edwards and Butch Floyd. Honorary pallbearers were her brothers-in-law and grandchildren.

Margaret Guinn
Margaret Guinn, 88, of Van Buren died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at a local hospital. She was a member of the Living Faith Missionary Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Chester Guinn; two sons, Darwin Guinn of Fort Smith and Larry Guinn of Plano, Texas; four grandchildren, Lacey Feris of Missouri City, Texas, Wesley Guinn of Addison, Texas, Kyle Guinn of Tulsa and Kim Mulson of Fort Smith; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Kyle, Nathan and Wesley Guinn, Chris Feris, Marcus Mulson and Bobby Stone. Honorary pallbearers will be Missionary Baptist pastors.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Living Faith Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, 12515 Arkansas 253, Fort Smith, AR 72916.

David Almond
David “Keith” Almond, 40, of Daleville, Ind., died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, in Muncie, Ind. He was born Jan. 31, 1963 in Ozark and was a 1981 graduate of Greenwood High School where he wrestled in the 165-pound class. He had been a truck driver in construction services for CAT Communications in Anderson and environment construction in Indianapolis. He attended Faith Baptist Church in Fort Smith and was active in Boys Scouts and FFA. The Army veterans was a member of the Madison County Pool League and American Legion Post No. 446 in Daleville.
Survivors include his parents, J.D. and Betty Almond of Fort Smith; two sons, David Lloyd and Brian Keith, both of Fort Smith; grandmother, Rachel King of Fort Smith; one sister, Karen McDonald of Van Buren; a grandson, two nieces and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Cecil Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Claytor, Jimmy Kelly, David Blackwell, Bob Harkreader and Clyde McDonald. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Wagner, Neal Wade, Jerry Almond, Jim Kelly, Virgil Cagle and Earl Almond.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.

Kimberly Shellito
Kimberly Dawn Brown Shellito, 32, of Van Buren died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at a local hospital.
Graveside service was held Feb. 15 at Alma Cemetery in Alma under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by Jamie Ryes; three sons, Kody, Kirk and James, all of the home; her parents, Don and Sherry Brown of Van Buren; a brother, Marcus Brown of Alma; and paternal grandmother, Lydia Brown of Fort Smith.

Ronald L. Mackey, 56, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at a local hospital. He was a truck driver for O.K. Industries in Fort Smith and a member of Rena Road Christian Church.
Funeral service was held Feb. 15 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Suzi; a daughter, Chastein Mackey of the home; a son, Kevin Mackey of Van Buren; his mother, Marjorie Mackey of Winfield, Kan.; and two brothers, Joe Mackey of Shelby, Mich. and Rex Mackey of Gueda Springs, Kan.

Bill Heathcock Sr., 61, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at a local hospital. He was a retired sales manager for Southern Steel & Wire in Fort Smith and a member of Alma Assembly of God.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Becky Heathcock of Rudy and Art and Bonnie Heathcock of Russellville; three stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Matthew and Annette Sossamon of Alma, Mark and Mishelle Sossamon of Alma and Luke Sossamon of Van Buren; three sisters, Norman Jean Wardrup of Fort Smith, Donna Joslin of Fort Worth, Texas and Anna Johnston of Marion, Va.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Mary Frisbie of Lavaca and Arthur and Doris Heathcock of Van Buren; numerous grandchildren, a great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held Feb. 14 at Alma Assembly of God with burial at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren
Pallbearers were Mike Moffett, Mike Moffett Jr., Bobby, Randy and Jerry Joslin and Charles Wardrup.

Ora Capp
Ora Mae Capp, 80, of Van Buren died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at a local nursing home. She was a homemaker, member of North Park Baptist Church in Van Buren and widow of Frank Capp.
Survivors include one daughter, Frankie Parrish of Van Buren; one son, Paul “Butch” Capp of Rudy; two sisters, Velma Allen of Buxton, Ore., and Iva Lee Nunn of Blue Springs, Mo.; one brother, Floyd Young of Roland; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 17 at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel. Burial will be at Gill Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Anthony Arnold, Carroll McClure, Tommy Bowen, Cliff Jameson, Rick Parks and Stacy Johnson.
