Ola Pledger Young
May 2, 1925 - February 22, 2012

Ola Pledger Young, 86, of Pine Bluff died Wednesday, February 22, 2012 .

She was born May 2, 1925, in Danville, to Thomas and Maudie Walker Pledger.

Mrs Young was a homemaker and a member of Eastside Baptist Church.

Survivors; brother, J.V. Pledger of Little Rock, and several nieces and nephews. She’s predeceased by her parents; husband, Leroy Young; four brothers and four sisters.

Funeral: 10:00 AM Monday, February 27, 2012, Ralph Robinson and Son, with Reverend Ray Edmonson officiating. Burial: 2:00 PM Monday, Pinecrest Cemetery, in Alexander.

The family will receive friends at Robinson’s, Sunday, 3-5 pm.

Lester Ray DuMond
January 4, 1949 - February 24, 2012

Lester Ray DuMond, 63, a resident of Reydell, went to be with the Lord Friday, February 24, 2012.

Born January 4, 1949, in DeWitt, he was a son of Lester Lee and Billie Gossom DuMond.

Lester Ray was reared and received his early education in DeWitt. He was a 1968 graduate of DeWitt High School. He was an outstanding athlete, lettering in football, basketball and track. He was All Conference and All District in football and basketball, and was All State in track.

Lester Ray was a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He served for three years and was awarded two Medals of the Purple Heart, as well as other distinguished medals. He was a master plumber and owned and operated Lester DuMond Plumbing. He was also the Maintenance Supervisor for the Arkansas County Detention Center, retiring in December 2011. Lester Ray DuMond married Mary Ann Luckie on March 2, 1997, in Ethel, Arkansas.

Lester Ray was a member of Belleview Missionary Baptist Church in Ethel, Arkansas. He often stated he was not ashamed to follow Christ. He served the church as Sunday School Superintendant, teacher of the Adult II Sunday School class, and a teacher during Vacation Bible School. He was a member of the North American Hunting Club, the National Rifle Association, and Ducks Unlimited.

Lester Ray was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and David DuMond; three sisters, Louie Burnett, Ann Robinson, and Katy Steiner.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann DuMond of Reydell; two daughters, Christina DuMond and Stacey DuMond, both of DeWitt; two step-sons, Jacob Schimmel of Little Rock, and Nathan Schimmel of Jonesboro; seven grandchildren, Delilah, Cole, Sam, Sadie, Caroline, Tobin, and Vada; one brother, Walter DuMond of St. Charles, Arkansas; two sisters, Delores Padgett of Ethel, and Ruth Cunningham of St. Charles.

The visitation will be from 3:00-5:00 PM Sunday, February 26, 2012, at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, February 27, 2012, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Brother Curtis Brown, and Brother Donald Lee Ruffin officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son.

Memorials may be made to: Belleview Missionary Baptist Church in Ethel, Arkansas, or the American Cancer Society, 901 N. University Dr. Little Rock, Arkansas 72207.

Randall Reed "Randy" Vance
March 1, 1943 - February 24, 2012

Randall "Randy" Reed Vance, 68, of Hot Springs died on Friday, February 24, 2012.

He was born March 1, 1943, in El Dorado, AR to Charles Ross and Ruby Mae Vance. Growing up as a young boy, his family moved all across the state. He graduated from Central High School in Helena, AR in 1961 and attended college at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, AR.

Mr. Vance went to work for International Paper Company in 1963 and obtained a certification in Pulp and Paper Technology in 1985. He was recognized through his completion of the Facilitator Skills Program through the I.P. Quality Management Development Program in 1991. He retired as Lab Supervisor-Tech Quality Control in 1997 and was a proud member of the Quarter Century Society.

On January 24, 1964, he married the love of his life, Sandra Kay Frisby Vance in Pine Bluff, AR. They were married for 48 years and shared a love and devotion for one another all of the days of their lives.

Some of his greatest joys were times shared hunting and fishing with his son, Barrett, and his Dad, playing rounds of golf with friends at Rosswood Country Club and spending time with his grandchildren.

Those who knew Randy would all agree he was an honest man of few words, with a kind heart, conservative values and a dry sense of humor. He valued hard work and was a good provider who was dedicated to the loving care of his family.

He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, where he made a public profession of faith through baptism at the age of 33.

Survivors are his wife, Sandra "Sandy" Kay Frisby Vance of Hot Springs; and his daughter, Amanda Proffitt and her husband, Glenn Proffitt of Little Rock; two grandchildren, Emily Grace and Zachary Reed Proffitt of Little Rock and one brother, Chester B. Vance of Orange Beach, AL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Barrett Reed Vance.

Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 27th at Ralph Robinson and Son in Pine Bluff with Doctor W. David Moore officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery following the funeral.

The family will receive friends at Robinson’s on Monday at 3:30 p.m. prior to the service.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Immanuel Baptist Church, 1801West 17th, Pine Bluff, AR 71603 or to the charity of your choice.

Wilbern E. Bobo, Jr.
December 27, 1924 - June 23, 2007

Wilbern E. Bobo, Jr., 82, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, died Saturday, June 23, 2007 at home.

Mr. Bobo was born December 27, 1924 in to the late Wilbern E. Bobo, Sr. and Wilma Reynolds Bobo.

He was reared and received his early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1942.

After high school, Mr. Bobo entered the U.S. Army, where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant during World War II.

Mr. Bobo worked as President of W. E. Bobo Company, Inc., which was family owned from 1908 until Mr. Bobo's retirement in 1988.

He was a very active and beloved member of the Jefferson County community. Mr. Bobo was a member of First Baptist Church, Pine Bluff City Council for 18 years, World War II Last Man's Club; Pine Bluff Convention Center Commission; Jefferson County Jail Board, President of Pine Bluff High School Class of 1942, RSVP Council Board and Jefferson Hospital Association, Inc. from 1959-1993. Mr. Bobo was a life member of Salvation Army, Gideons and Kiwanis, where he served 3 times as Lt. Governor of Missouri-Arkansas Division 23. He also received the Hixson Award, which is an honorary Kiwanian award.

Survivors include wife, Martha Mann Bobo, whom he married May 11, 1948 in Immanuel Baptist Church of Pine Bluff; son, W. E. Bobo, III of San Francisco, California; daughter, Leah Elizabeth "Cissie" Cargill of Southlake, Texas; and three grandchildren, Ashley Buechele, Spencer Cargill and Elise Cargill.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 26 from 6-8 P.M. at Ralph Robinson & Son.

Services will be held at First Baptist Church, Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Gordon Topping and Reverend Don Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.
