Frances DuPree Grauman
August 30, 1913 - December 23, 2001

Frances DuPree Grauman, 88, of Pine Bluff died Sunday, December 23, 2001 in Plano, Texas.
She was born August 30, 1913 in Willow Springs, Missouri to Alvin Warren and Anna Pyles DuPree. She moved to Pine Bluff in 1925, where she received her early education, attending Pine Bluff Schools.
She worked at Burt's Store for Men as a cashier and bookkeeper for 13 years, retiring in 1985.
She was married to H. H. Grauman, whom she married August 6, 1931 in Pine Bluff.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the Wesley Friendship Class, the Pioneers, the Sorosis Club, the Shepherd Center and the Pine Bluff Quilters Guild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Frances Grauman and a brother, A.W. DuPree.
Survivors are a son, Harold H. Grauman, Jr. of Abita Springs, Louisiana, daughter, Carol Ann "Cissie" Grauman Miller of Plano, Texas and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son, with Reverend Charles Settle officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Ralph Robinson and Son, Thursday evening, 6-8.
The family ask that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church, 200 West 6th Street, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, 71601.

Charles W. ( Buddy ) Reid, Jr.
March 19, 1943 - December 25, 2001

Charles W. "Buddy" Reid, Jr., 58, of Pine Bluff, died unexpectedly at home Tuesday, December 25, 2001. The son of the late Dr. Charles W. Reid and Frances Geraldine Williams Reid, he was born March 19, 1943, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Reared and educated in Pine Bluff, he was a 1961 graduate of Pine Bluff High School and attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
As a young man, Mr. Reid worked at Central Moloney, National Life and Accident Insurance Company and the Cotton Belt Railroad. In 1969 he went to work at the Pine Bluff Arsenal, beginning a 30 year career there, retiring in 1999 from his position as a chemical technician. He had served as treasurer of the American Federation of Government Employees chapter at the Arsenal.
An active member of First United Methodist Church, he served as a member of the church's Official Board and as president of the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class. An avid sports and hunting enthusiast, he was a member of the Turner Neal Hunting Club, the Pile Brothers Hunting Club, the Jefferson County Gun Club, the Arkansas Muzzle Loaders Association, and the National Rifle Association. He was an American Field Service volunteer and he and his family have hosted four exchange students.
He was also a member of the Quapaw Lodge #730 F.&A.M., and the Sahara Shrine Temple. .
His survivors include Lloyene Bruce Reid, MD, to whom he was married June 21, 1975, in Pine Bluff; two sons, Charles W. "Trey" Reid, III of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Lloyd Russell "Rusty" Reid of Russellville, Arkansas; four sisters, Charlotte Waller of Columbia, Mississippi, Lucy Peacock of Longview, Texas, Pat Reid and Pam Reid of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 28, at2:00 P.M in the Sanctuary of First United Methodist Church with Reverend Charles Settle officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to First United Methodist Church, Box 8003, Pine Bluff, AR 71611.

Wilbert Richard ( Bill ) Braswell
May 10, 1922 - January 07, 2002

Wilbert Richard "Bill" Braswell, 79, of Pine Bluff, died Monday, January 7, 2002 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. The son of the late Effie P. Hines and Will Zander Braswell, he was born May 10, 1922, at Goldsboro, North Carolina. Mr. Braswell was reared and received his education in Rosewood, North Carolina. He was a World War II Army veteran, having served as a Tank Commander and he won the Good Conduct Medal. He had been a resident of Pine Bluff since 1956.
Mr. Braswell worked as a Buildings Craftsman at the Pine Bluff Arsenal before retiring in 1985 after twenty-seven years of service. He enjoyed gardening and was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and Jacob Brump Masonic Lodge #169. He was preceded in death by three brothers; Donald, Reginald and Hubert Braswell and one sister, Grace Braswell.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva Childs Braswell, whom he married September 21, 1946; two sons, Glen Braswell of Vilonia, Arkansas and Scott Braswell of Pine Bluff; two daughters, Becky Simmons and Betty Clampit, both of Pine Bluff; one sister, Lorraine Rago of Wilmington, Delaware; two brothers, Ralph and Edward Braswell, both of Goldsboro, North Carolina; five grandchildren, two step grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 10, 2002, at 1:30 PM, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Robinson's from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday evening.
The family requests memorials take the form of contributions to St. Luke United Methodist Church Building Fund, North School Street at Richard Drive, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, 71602.

Maxine Stuart Brown
May 18, 1913 - January 10, 2002

Maxine Stuart Brown, 88, who resided at her son's residence, Millspring, North Broadway, Georgetown, KY, formerly of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, January 10, 2002 after a ten year battle with alzheimer's.
She was born May 18, 1913, the daughter of the late Thomas David and Ann Logan Douglass Stuart. She attended Pine Bluff Schools. She was an alumnus of Mary Baldwin College and the University of Arkansas. She had been retired for many years from the Superintendent's office of the St. Louis Southwestern Railway Company. She had been a member of the Pine Bluff Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, The Big Spring Chapter DAR, Colonial Dames, Scott County Historical Society, and Scott County Woman's Club. She had attended Christ Church Catheral in Lexington and the Wednesday Prayer Group at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
She is survived by a son, Atty. David Stuart of Georgetown and Versailles. Graveside Services, 3 PM, Monday, Stuart-Douglass Lot, Bellwood Cemetery, Pine Bluff, AR. Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors in charge of local arrangements, with W. R. Milward Funeral Directors in charge of the Lexington, KY arrangements.There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to the Bluegrass Trust for Historical Preservation, Lexington, KY or the Big Spring Chapter, DAR, Georgetown, KY.

Mildred Lusby Whitsitt
August 29, 1911 - January 15, 2002

Mildred Lusby Whitsitt, 90, of Cabot, Arkansas, passed away January 15, 2002, at Cabot Manor.
She was born August 29, 1911, in Jefferson County, a daughter of Charles Paul and Martha Stevens Lusby.
Mrs. Whitsitt was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County and received her education in the Pine Bluff School System. She was the manager of Opportunity Stamp Company. She was also a member of the Southside Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her Brother and two sisters.
She is survived by two nieces, Ms. Nancy Lusby Adams and Mildred Lusby Peterson both of Cabot, AR.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 19, 2002, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son with Dr. J.R. DeBusk officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Pine Bluff.

Nell Rose Wilson
May 07, 1922 - January 21, 2002

Nell Rose Simmons Wilson, 79, of Little Rock, formerly of Pine Bluff, died January 21, 2002 at her home. Born May 7, 1922 at Conway, she was a daughter of the late Herbert Boyd Simmons and Verda Helen Harrison Simmons.
She graduated Lyon High School in Covington, Louisiana in 1939, then attended UCA in Conway. She lived in Pine Bluff from 1960 until 1998 when she moved to Little Rock.
Mrs. Wilson retired from the 2nd District Chancery Court in 1989 after 24 years as a court reporter.
She was a Methodist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Woodrow Wilson.
She is survived by a cousin, Mrs. Carl Camp of Omaha, Nebraska.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday January 29, 2002 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son with Reverend Mary Susan Hilliard officiating. The body will be cremated.
The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Arkansas Children's Hospital Foundation, 800 Marshall St., Little Rock, AR 72203.

Edgar Roy Jones
March 09, 1918 - January 27, 2002

E. Roy Jones, 83, of 3407 Jonquil Street, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, died Sunday, January 27, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Jones was born March 9, 1918 in New Edinberg, Arkansas to the late John Will Jones and Hattie Mae Hamaker Jones. He was reared and educated in Cleveland County where he attended Gravel Ridge High School. He joined the United States Army in 1941 and served during World War II, where he received the Good Conduct Medal and the Meritorious Unit Award. Mr. Jones was honorably discharged from the Army in 1945. He moved to Pine Bluff in 1946.
He married Bernice Roberts on November 22, 1946 in Warren, Arkansas.
Mr. Jones was employed by various trucking companies over a 50 year period, working for Hoover Oil Company for 16 years before retiring in 1984.
Mr. Jones was a Baptist. He was a former Vice Commander of the American Legion. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W Post #4455, where he served as a former Senior Vice Commander.
His survivors include his wife of 55 years, Bernice Roberts Jones of Pine Bluff, a son, Roy Ronald Jones of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, a daughter, Connie Sanchez of Pine Bluff, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three sisters, Erma Smith of Pine Bluff, Beatrice Anderson of Barling, Arkansas, and Willie Mae Shavers of Houston, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and seven sisters.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 PM at Robinson's.
The funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, January 30, 2002, 2:00 P.M., Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Edward Cook officiating, interment will follow at Prosperity Cemetery in Cleveland County.

Horace L. Laminack
July 26, 1924 - January 27, 2002

Horace L. Laminack, 77, of 504 West Street, White Hall, died Sunday, January 27, 2002, at his home. Mr. Laminack was born July 24, 1926, at Lamont, Arkansas (Grapevine) in Grant County. He was a son of the late James Luther and Lillian Rebecca Daniels Laminack. Mr. Laminack was reared and received his education in Grapevine. He was a 1943 graduate of Grapevine High School.
He was of the Baptist Faith. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II on the USS Petrof Bay. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone in 1985 with thirty-seven years of service. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America.
Mr. Laminack was preceded in death by two sisters; Eula Laminack Bryles and Pauline Laminack, one brother, James C. Laminack.
Survivors include two sons; Horace L. "Ace" Laminack, Jr. of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Gary M. Laminack of Hillard, Ohio; one daughter, Alicia Laminack Musgrove of White Hall, Arkansas; one sister, Stella Laminack Bryles of White Hall and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 31, 2002, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son at 10:30 AM with Dr. J. R. DeBusk officiating. Interment will follow in Clement Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Robinson's from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday evening. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren: April Laminack Green, Vanessa Laminack, Elizabeth Laminack, Amber Laminack, Joseph Musgrove, Amiee Laminack and Michael Musgrove.

Virginia H. Thompson
September 21, 1924 - January 29, 2002

Virginia H. Thompson, 77, of 1909 East 9th Avenue, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, died Tuesday, January 29, 2002, at Davis Life Care Center.
Mrs. Thompson was born September 21, 1924 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late Lonnie and Eula Adkins Henderson. She was a lifetime resident of Pine Bluff graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1942.
She married Marvin "Bo" Thompson on November 3, 1945 in Pine Bluff.
She was a homemaker and a member of Central Presbyterian Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Thompson was an excellent seamstress and loved animals.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by her husband of 56 years, Marvin "Bo" Thompson, a son, Tommy Thompson, daughter, Patricia "Lynn" Bryant, all of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and four grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her parents, two brothers, O.L. McAllister and O.E. McAllister.
The family will receive friends at the family home, 1909 East 9th Avenue, Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, February 1, 2002, 10:00 A.M., Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Richard Knott officiating, interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
