Elsie Maude Hornaday Chambers

Elsie Maude Hornaday Chambers, 90, of Pine Bluff died Saturday, December 27, 2003, at Semper Care in Pine Bluff. She was born March 3, 1913, in Ellisville, (Calhoun County), to William Jackson and Cora Rich Hornaday.
Mrs. Chambers was reared and received her education in the Cold Spring Community. She married James Henry Chambers on October 22, 1934, in Fordyce. They moved to Pine Bluff in 1942.
She was a member of First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, Ruth Sunday School Class and the Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Chambers was a loving wife and a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Chambers; parents, William Jackson and Cora Rich Hornaday; brothers, Vernon Hornaday, Fred Hornaday, Hershell Hornaday, Bartee Hornaday, Andrew Hornaday, Elver Hornaday; sisters, Nora Davis, Pearl Ballard, Nettie May, Dorothy Kinder, Omega Thrasher, Genevieve Cone, Juanita Grisham, and Clois Wagon.
Survivors include her sons, James Donald Chambers of Orange, Texas, William Rush Chambers of North Little Rock, Robert Glen Chambers of Woodstock, Georgia; daughter, Sherry Kay Miller of Pine Bluff; sister, Wenona Oakley of Little Rock; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; five step grandchildren and eight step great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday 6 to 8 PM at Ralph Robinson and Son.
Services are 10:00 AM, Tuesday, December 30, 2003, at First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff with Dr. David Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Richard Henry Bunn
January 30, 1915 - December 27, 2003
Richard H. Bunn, 88, of North Little Rock, formerly of Pine Bluff, died December 27, 2003 at Baptist Health, in North Little Rock.
He was born January 30, 1915, in Longville, Louisiana, to William Cade and Hilda Osterholt Bunn. He was reared and received his early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School, in 1933.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, where he was stationed in the South Pacific. After his discharge, he returned to Pine Bluff and was employed at Holsum Baking Company
(formerly Sunbeam Baking Company), where he held various positions including, President and Co-Owner until his retirement in 1971.
He was a member of the Pine Bluff Chamber of Commerce and was honored as "Boss of the Year" in 1968. He also was a past member of the Pine Bluff Rotary Club.
Mr. Bunn was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pine Bluff, where he served as church president and was a member of the church choir. He also attended Grace Lutheran Church in Little Rock.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Cade and Hilda McCain Bunn; and a brother, William C. Bunn.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mabel McCain Bunn (married February 27, 1938, in Pine Bluff), and one sister, Sally Holmes of North Little Rock. In addition, he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will at the home of Sally Holmes, 1709 Northwood, North Little Rock.
Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Reverend Dean Clausing officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, by Ralph Robinson and Son.

Dollie Mae Biggs
February 25, 1923 - December 27, 2003
Dollie Mae Biggs, age 80, of White Hall, died at her home Saturday, December 27, 2003. Mrs. Biggs was born February 25, 1923, in the Heber Springs area, a daughter of the late Frank and Rosie Watters.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith and had been a resident of Pine Bluff for the past ten years.
Mrs. Biggs was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lois Biggs and a son, Steve Dave Biggs.
Mrs. Biggs is survived by a daughter, Mildred Frisby of White Hall; five sons, Charles and Gene Biggs, both of White Hall, Dale Biggs of Pine Bluff, Carl Biggs of Wright and Tommy Biggs of Jefferson; a brother, Ruben Watters of the Hardin Community; twelve grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 31, 2003, at 1:30 PM in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with the Reverend Matt Grantham officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson's from 5 to 7 PM Tuesday evening.
Pallbearers will be Stevie Watters, Clint Watters, Randy Frisby, Jim Ashmore, Scotty Biggs and Michael Biggs. Joe Frisby is the Honorary Pallbearer.
Beverly Ann Smith
August 20, 1932 - December 03, 2001
Beverly Ann Smith, 69, of 1901 West 40th Street, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, died Monday, December 3, 2001, at Trinity Village Medical Center. Born August 20, 1932 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Pauline Gulvin Smith and the late Weldon L. Smith.
Ms. Smith was reared and educated in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, where she graduated from Williamsport High School in 1950. She then attended college at the University of Illinois where she received her Doctorate Degree. She moved to Pine Bluff in 1987 from Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Ms. Smith was a Molecular Biologist in Medical Research at the National Center for Toxicological Research for 13 years before retiring in April of 2000. She was also previously employed by American Airlines for 13 years.
She is survived by her mother, Pauline Gulvin Smith and a sister, Janice L. Upham, both of Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her father, Weldon L. Smith.
The body will be cremated. There will not be a memorial service.
Ethel Davis Brown

Ethel Davis Brown, 91, of Lake Village, died January 5, 2004, at Chicot Memorial Hospital.
She was born January 31, 1912, in Star City, to the late Thomas D. and Nancy Tucker Davis.
Mrs. Brown was reared and received her early education in the Moscow and Linwood communities. She moved to Pine Bluff in 1929, where she lived until moving to Hamburg in 1988 and then to Lake Village in 2001.
She was a member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church, in Pine Bluff.
She is survived by her husband, Cecil Brown (married April 4, 1944 in Pine Bluff), two daughters, Joyce Baker of El Dorado and Nancy Baker Thompson and husband Fred of Lake Village, one sister, Mary Frances Owen of Harrison, 5 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Richard Brown, a brother, John Davis, and four sisters, Zula Watkins,Effie Rankin, Gladys Watkins and Jeanette Fulford.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son, with Reverend Jimmy Watson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, by Ralph Robinson and Son. The family will receive friends at Robinson's, Wednesday, 6-8 P.M.
James Edward Anderson

James E. Anderson, 68, of Sheridan, Arkansas, died Monday, January 5, 2004, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Anderson was born November 7, 1935, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to the late Monroe and Ina Faye Robertson Anderson. He was reared and received his education in White Hall, where he graduated from White Hall High School in 1953. He joined the United States Army and served during the 
Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1957.
He married Ms. Jettie Veazey on June 6, 1959 in Sheridan, Arkansas.
Mr. Anderson was a journeyman electrician for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local # 295, in Little Rock, Arkansas.
He was a member of Oak Grove Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan.
His survivors include his wife of 44 years, Mrs. Jettie Anderson of Sheridan, Arkansas; one son, James Alan Anderson of Memphis, Tennessee; and one grandchild.
Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 8, 2004, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at Robinson's.
Funeral Services will be Friday, January 9, 2004, 10:00 AM, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Jimmy Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Amalia Rocconi Ruggeri
January 17, 1915 - December 04, 2001
Amalia Rocconi Ruggeri, 86 of Pine Bluff, died Tuesday at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was born January 17, 1915 in Lake Village, Arkansas to the late Peter and Julia Mazzanti Rocconi. Mrs. Ruggeri was reared and educated in Lake Village where she attended St. Mary's Catholic School.
She married Robert Ruggeri on April 23, 1936 in Lake Village before moving back to Pine Bluff. Mrs. Ruggeri enjoyed sewing and fishing. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker.
Mrs. Ruggeri was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, Alter Society of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Merry Mix-up Sewing Club.
Mrs. Ruggeri was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ruggeri, a son; Richard Ruggeri, five brothers and a sister.
She is survived by her son; Donald "Don" Ruggeri of Pine Bluff, daughter; Joann Kongenske of Pine Bluff, sister; Amalite Fratesi of Pine Bluff, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the residence of Don Ruggeri, 7800 Thousand Oaks Drive, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, 71603.
A vigil will be held 7:00 PM, Thursday at Ralph Robinson's. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Friday, December 7, 2001 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pine Bluff by Ralph Robinson and Son with Father Andrew Smith officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Dewey L. Brantley

Dewey L. Brantley, 71, a resident of Pine Bluff, died Saturday, January 3, 2004, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Born January 9, 1932, in Humphrey, AR. he was a son of Benjamin Clement and Retha Mae Shelby Brantley.
Mr. Brantley was reared and received his early education in White Hall. He was a graduate of White Hall High School. He travelled with his family much of his early life. He married Thelma Brown in Rison on July 25, 1951. Mr. Brantley worked assembling knives for wood lathes. His skills at his profession were employed by a number of furniture manufacturing companies.
Mr. Brantley was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Dewey Brantley and Perry Brantley; two brothers, Milburn and Joseph Brantley; three sisters, Bertha Coleman, Penny Ponder and Iva Mae Burk.
Survivors include; his wife, Thelma Brown Brantley of Pine Bluff; one son Ernie Michael Brantley of Prague, AR. five daughters, Virginia Holloway of Rockford, Illinois, Teresa Shikenjanski of White Hall, Denese Y. Brantley of Pine Bluff, Romona Luanne Brantley Ross of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Nancy Jo Rosa Brantley of Pine Bluff; one sister, Elzie Marie Coney of Little Rock; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday, January 8, 2003, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Brother Jimmy Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Branch Cemetery. The family will receive guests from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, January 7, 2003, at Ralph Robinson & Son.
