Ione Cooper Farrell
December 07, 1905 - December 14, 2002

Ione Cooper Farrell, age 97, of Pine Bluff died on Saturday, December 14, 2002, at Davis Life Care Center in Pine Bluff.
She was born December 7, 1905, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of the late Edmund S. and Maude Kinsley Cooper. She received her early education in Des Moines public schools and graduated from Drake University. She was president of her chapter of Chi Omega Sorority and was elected to membership in Delta Phi Delta, national honorary art fraternity. Subsequently, she received a degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia.
While in Des Moines she taught art at the Iowa National Bible Training School and also in the Des Moines Public schools. She moved to St. Louis, Missouri, in 1926 where she was lecturer and personnel director at Famous Barr Company.
On December 12, 1931, she married Arthur Dalmer Farrell. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1973. The couple had one daughter. The family moved to Pine Bluff in 1940. Mrs. Farrell, along with two partners established Creative Writers Service, a ghostwriting firm from which she retired in 1973. She was a charter member of the Brush and Palette Guild and past president of numerous organizations including Chapter AU of PEO; Alethea Club; Sesame Club; Pine Bluff High School PTA and Pine Bluff High School Band Mothers Club. She was also a member of the American Association of University Women and served for several years as AAUW State Art Chairman. She organized the first art competition for Arkansas Public Schools and was instrumental in arranging many early art exhibitions of national importance at Arkansas A.M. & N. College (now UAPB).
She was a fine musician and enhanced numerous civic functions with piano and accordion accompaniments.
Mrs. Farrell was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she has been a Bible teacher, a member of the Berean Bible Class and Circle #10.
She is survived by her daughter Georgianna Bell, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a. m., Wednesday, December 18, 2002, at the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors, 807 Cherry Street. The Reverend W. Lee Kinney will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon, 2:00 to 4:00 p. m. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Pine Bluff.
Memorials may be sent to Chapter AU of PEO Educational Fund or to First Presbyterian Church, 717 W. 32nd Avenue, Pine Bluff, AR 71603.

Raymond Hubert Flowers
May 05, 1922 - December 16, 2002

Raymond H. Flowers, 80, of Pine Bluff died Monday, December 16, 2002 at his home. He was born May 5, 1922 to Henry V. and Martha Blondine Flowers in Shiloe, Arkansas.
Mr. Flowers was reared and educated in Heth, Arkansas where he graduated from high school. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II. After the service he farmed for a while before moving to Michigan in 1952 where he worked as a Mail Carrier. He then went to work as an electrician at General Motors before retiring in 1979.
Mr. Flowers moved back to Pine Bluff in 1984 where he married the former Janie G. Reyer on August 4, 1984 in Pine Bluff. He was a member of South Side Baptist Church in Pine Bluff. He also was a Master Mason and a life time member of the Swartz Creek Masonic Lodge # 458 in Swartz Creek Michigan.
Mr. Flowers is preceded in death by his wife, Janie G. Reyer Flowers; parents, Henry V. and Martha Blondine Flowers; brothers, Herbert W. Flowers, Hillary Flowers; sisters, Hester P. Erwin, Mildred Mitchell, and Nora Bledsoe.
Survivors include his sons, Noble H. Flowers of Elkhorn, Nebraska, Jeffrey L. Flowers of Kokomo, Indiana; daughter, Dorthy Jean Adams of Anderson, Indiana; stepdaughter, Marilyn Ilg of Pine Bluff; sisters, Vesta McHann of Sumter, South Carolina, Vanessie Anderson of Norfork, Arkansas, Fay Stockdale of Missouri; six grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are 10:00 AM, Friday, December 20, 2002 at Ralph Robinson and Son with Reverend Jim Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Cypress Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at the residence of Raymond Flowers, 2301 Crownwood, Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
The family ask that memorials be made to the American Diabetes. Association, 11500 Rodney Parham, Ste. 19-20, Little Rock, AR 72212-4134.

Eva Mae Glover Kimbrell Lane
August 12, 1914 - December 18, 2002

Eva Mae Glover Kimbrell Lane, 88, of Pine Bluff died Wednesday, December 18, 2002 at Gardner Nursing Home in Star City. She was born August 12, 1914 to Frank and Sarah Ward Glover in Randall, Arkansas.
Mrs. Kimbrell was reared and educated in both Cleveland and Jefferson county. She graduated from Harmony High School. She married John Frank Kimbrell on July 4, 1936 in Cleveland County. They owned and operated Kimbrell's Grocery Store on Highway 15 South, and was part-owner of the "Track" (car racing) located on Highway 15 South during 1955. They later owned and operated Kimbrell's Lumber Sales in Pine Bluff, where Mrs. Kimbrell continued to work after the death of her husband in 1958. She worked there for 21 years before retiring.
Mrs. Kimbrell married J. R. Lane on May 10, 1968 in Pine Bluff.
Mrs. Lane was a member of First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, where she served as Church Clerk for five years and sponsored the Bible Training Course for two years. She was a past member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church on Highway 15 where she served as Church Clerk for fifteen years, taught the Adult Sunday School Class for two years and sponsored the Young People Training Course for fifteen years. She was also a past member of Pleasant Ridge Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland County where she taught the Adult Sunday School Class for ten years.
Mrs. Lane is preceded in death by her husband, John Frank Kimbrell; son, John Francis Kimbrell; parents; Frank and Sarah Ward Glover; brothers, Maurice Glover, Frank Glover; and a granddaughter.
She is survived by her husband, J. R. Lane of Pine Bluff; brother, John Edward Glover of Pine Bluff; one grandson, John Kendrick Kimbrell and two great-granddaughters.
The family will receive friends Thursday 5 to 7 PM at Ralph Robinson and Son.
Funeral services are 1:00 PM, Friday, December 20, 2002, Chapel of Ralph Robinson with Dr. David Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
The family will at the residence of John Glover, 510 Serenity Lane, Pine Bluff.

Hazel M. Keys
December 16, 1914 - December 19, 2002

Hazel M. Keys, age 88, of Pine Bluff, passed away on Thursday afternoon at Trinity Village Medical Center.
She was born December 16, 1914, a daughter of William Wesley and Lola Vanattia McKinzie in Kingsland Arkansas. She was reared and educated at Kingsland and graduated from Kingsland High School. She married James B. Moore on June 16, 1936. He preceded her in death on December 29, 1964. She worked at Fred Vinings Jewelry until she moved to Dallas and worked for Everetts Jewelry until she retired. She married Lester Keys on January 15, 1980 in Reno, Nevada. He preceded her in death on December 18, 2001. She was a past member of the First United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff.
Mrs. Keys is survived by one sister, Helen Rhodes of Pine Bluff.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman McKinzie and Clarence McKinzie and one sister, Ruth Tichenor.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 21, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son, 807 Cherry. The Reverend M. L. Faler will officiate. Visitation will follow the service. Burial will be private at Memorial Park Cemetery, Pine Bluff.

Effie L. Beck
August 28, 1908 - December 19, 2002

Effie L. Beck, 94, of 6301 Hazel Street, Pine Bluff, died Thursday, December 19, 2002, at Arkansas Convalescent Center.
Mrs. Beck was born August 28, 1908 in Rison, Arkansas to the late Sidney H. and Ethel V. Brown Woolley. She was reared in Cleveland County, and educated in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She worked as a nurse in Jefferson County at the old Davis Hospital, and then at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She also worked for Dr. Allen R. Russell for 13 years. She was a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church and the Eastern Star Chapter 40.
Her survivors include; two step-daughters, Louise Harbert of Sherman, Texas, and Veda Bentz of Hot Springs, Arkansas; one sister, Veoma Woolley of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; six step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louie M. Beck, whom she married February 9, 1946 in Sheridan, Arkansas; one brother, Bunyan Woolley; two sisters, Inez Huber and Estelle Ward.
The family will receive friends Sunday, 2-4 PM, at Robinson's.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, December 23, 2002, 11:00 a. m., Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Howard Loetscher officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Gladys Lowthorp
June 02, 1910 - December 25, 2002

Mrs. Gladys Lowthorp of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, died Wednesday, December 25, 2002, at her home.
Mrs. Lowthorp was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late George and Margaret Buckley Lupton. She graduated from McAlester High School in McAlester, Oklahoma. She was a photographer in Ft. Smith, Malvern, and Hot Springs from which she retired after 40 years. She resided in Hot Springs until the year 2000, when she moved to Pine Bluff to be with her daughter. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hot Springs. She was also a member of the Hot Springs Duplicate Bridge Club.
Her survivors include; one daughter and her husband, Jayne and Jerry Cole of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; step-son, Mark Lowthorp of Clinton, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Richard Cole and wife Alesia, and Kim Cole; one great-grandchild, Dalton Cole.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank Gorin Lowthorp, and two sisters.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at 3200 South Elm Street, Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
There will be Memorial Service Saturday, 10:30 AM, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson with the Reverend Reinhold Schmidt officiating. Burial will be private.
The family has requested that memorials take the form of contributions to the Humane Society of Garland County, P.O. Box 1484, Hot Springs, Arkansas, 71902, or the First United Methodist Church of Hot Springs, 1100 Central Avenue, Hot Springs, Arkansas 71901.

Caleb Colten Dodd
October 17, 2001 - December 23, 2002

Caleb Colten Aaron Dodd, 14 months, a resident of Pine Bluff, died Monday, December 23, 2002, in a Little Rock hospital.
Born October 17, 2001, in Little Rock, he was a son of George and Malinda Dodd of Pine Bluff.
He is survived by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, December 30, 2002, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son in Pine Bluff with the Reverend Ralph Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at Ralph Robinson & Son from 2-4:00 PM Sunday, December 29, 2002. Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Children's Hospital 800 Marshall St. Little Rock, Ar. 72202-3591.

Dorothy Cutrell
December 28, 1918 - December 29, 2002

Dorothy Cutrell, age 84, of Pine Bluff, died Sunday, December 29, 2002, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. Mrs. Cutrell was born December 28, 1918, in Ashley County, a daughter of the late Jack E. and Irene Jackson Roberts.
Mrs. Cutrell was reared and educated in Ashley County, graduating from Portland High School.
Mrs. Cutrell moved to Pine Bluff in 1936. She later began working at the Vogue Shop and worked there for twenty years retiring as Manager and Buyer in 1985.
Mrs. Cutrell was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rube Cutrell, whom she married on January 13, 1940, in Pine Bluff.
Mrs. Cutrell is survived by a neice, Mrs. Carolyn Russell of Monroe, Louisiana; a great- nephew, Adam Russell, also of Monroe.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 30, 2002, at 2:00 P M in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with the Reverend Angela Halford officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Robinson's Monday evening from 6 to 8 P M.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, 7200 Desiard, Monroe, Louisiana 71203.
