Archie Ray Childers

Archie Ray Childers, 52, of Sheridan, died Monday, August 30, 2004, at his home. He was born June 3, 1952, at Pine Bluff, to the late Ray and Violet Wood Childers.
He was reared and educated in Sheridan, where he graduated from Sheridan High School. He also attended Arkansas A & M College (University of Arkansas at Monticello).
Mr. Childers served in the United States Navy. He was an airplane mechanic. After his 
military service he became an iron worker and a welder.
He was a Christian and enjoyed raising horses.
Mr. Childers was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lou Childers.
Survivors include a son, Arch Cole Ray Childers of Sheridan; daughters, Violet Jean Childers of Sheridan, Janessa Arelene Theriot of Hot Springs, Lynn Diane Ross of Richmond, Virginia; three sisters, Sherry Kay Reppond, Anna Sue Clark, Clover Nell Hale all of Sheridan; and one grandchild.
Graveside services were 4:30 PM, Friday, September 3, 2004, in Grapevine Cemetery
by Ralph Robinson and Son, with Reverend Jim Baker officiating.
Hazel Mae King
February 24, 1913 - September 03, 2004
Hazel Mae Simpson King, 91, a resident of Pine Bluff, died Friday, September 3, 2004, at Trinity Village Medical Center.
Born February 24, 1913, in Star City, she was a daughter of Luther H. and Clara Mae Atkinson Simpson.
Mrs. King was reared and received her early education at Watson Chapel. She was a 1930 graduate of Pine Bluff High School. She married William H. King in 1931, in Pine Bluff. Mrs. King was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff. She was a charter member of the Alethia Club and a member of the Wesley Friendship Sunday School Class. Mrs. King was a member of the United Methodist Women who accorded her the Special Membership designation.
Mrs. King was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Survivors include; her daughter, Priscilla Bateman of Pine Bluff; one son, Billy King of Phoenix, Arizona; one sister, Julia Means of Pine Bluff; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, September 6, 2004, in Graceland Cemetery
with the Reverend Charles Settle officiating and under the direction of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. The family will receive visitors from 2:00-4:00 PM Sunday, September 5, 2004, at Ralph Robinson & Son. Tommy Sam Kilcrease, Sr.
January 24, 1930 - September 03, 2004
Tommy Sam Kilcrease Sr., age 74, of White Hall, died at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Friday, September 3, 2004. He was born January 24, 1930, in Hartman, Arkansas, a son of the late John Walter and Ola Clark Kilcrease.
Mr. Kilcrease was reared and received his education in Rohwer, graduating from Desha Central High School.
Mr. Kilcrease was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and a veteran of the
Korean War, having served in the U S Army. He was an avid hunter
He was a self employed contractor and had worked in various endeavors, including land development, the grocery business and the newspaper industry.
Mr. Kilcrease was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Margie Lee Spriggs Kilcrease, who he married January 23, 1959.
Mr. Kilcrease is survived by three sons, Tommy Sam Kilcrease, Jr., Greg Kilcrease and Rodney Hogan, all of Pine Bluff; two brothers, Gorman K. Kilcrease of Houston, Texas and James Kilcrease of Spokane, Washington; two sisters, Joan Bordeaux of Monticello, Arkansas and Sue Cantrell of Spokane, Washington; six grandchildren, Heath Kilcrease of McGehee and Gaylon Kilcrease of Hot Springs, Rodney Hogan, Jr., Tonya Hogan, Derric and Nathan Kennemer; all of White Hall; two great grandchildren, Emily Kilcrease and Brooke Dupwe, both of McGehee .
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2004, at 2:00 P M in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverend Bill Hilburn officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson's Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

John B. Bell
August 15, 1919 - September 09, 2004
John B. Bell, 85, of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, September 9, 2004 at Trinity Village Medical Center in Pine Bluff.
Mr. Bell was born August 15, 1919 in Fouke, Arkansas, a son of William Jefferson Bell and Alice Cabaniss Bell. John was reared and received his early education in Fouke, where he worked as a farmer.
John Bell married Nellie Ruth Easley on November 6, 1938 in Garland City, Arkansas. Mr. Bell worked for the Brown & Root Pickle Plant, as a city bus driver for the Texarkana Bus Company, at the Lone Star Arsenal in 1941 and as a conductor at the Red River Arsenal in Texarkana, Texas. He worked for the St. Louis-Southwestern Railroad in Pine Bluff, Arkansas in 1943.
He served in the US Navy as a Seaman 2nd Class in World War II from March 1944 to June 1945. While serving on the USS Takanis Bay aircraft carrier, Mr. Bell earned the American Theater and Asiatic Pacific Ribbon. After serving in the Navy, he returned home and back to his job at the railroad as brakeman and conductor, moving from Texarkana, Arkansas to the Cotton Belt Railroad in Pine Bluff in 1953. Mr. Bell worked for the railroad for 39 years, retiring in 1981.
Mr. Bell was a member of the Jacob Brump Lodge #160 F&AM, the UTU and a life member of the DAV. He attended Second Baptist Church. Mr. Bell's favorite hobby was gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Betty Jean Bell; two brothers, Marvin Bell and Jim Bell; and a half-brother, Riley Bell.
Mr. Bell is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Nellie Ruth Easley Bell of Pine Bluff; two sons and daughters-in-law, Luther & Cherry Bell of Panama City Beach, Florida, formerly of Texarkana, Texas and Dr. Bill & Becky Bell of Mena, Arkansas; daughter, Barbara Kropp of Sheridan, Arkansas; sister, Mary Alice Bell Zimdars of Dardanelle, Arkansas; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday, September 13, 2004 at 10:00 AM at the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with the Reverend Harold Mitchell and Reverend Jimmy Watson officiating. Burial will follow at Sylverino Cemetery
in Fouke, Arkansas at 4:00 PM. The family will receive friends at Robinson's Sunday afternoon from 2-4 PM.

Jewell Mae Jernigan

Jewell Mae Dancer Jernigan, 82, a resident of Pine Bluff, died Sunday, September 12, 2004, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Born August 30, 1922, in Stantonville, Tennessee, she was a daughter of W. H. and Rosa Gatley Dancer.
Mrs. Jernigan was reared and received her early education in Adamsville, Tennessee. She lived for a time in Alamo, Tennessee, in Bells, Tennessee, and Dyersburg, Tennessee. She married Nebut Jackson (N. J.) Jernigan in Corinth, Missisippi, on December 1, 1941.She moved to Pine Bluff in 1955. She was owner of the Jernigan Greenery in Pine Bluff. Mrs. Jernigan was a member of Central Baptist Church. She loved fishing, painting flowers, and growing orchids, which were her specialty.
Mrs. Jernigan was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Survivors include her son Dr. Larry Jernigan of Heber Springs; her daughter, Tonda Dean of Star City; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 15, 2004, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverend Gary Akers officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, September 14, 2004, at Ralph Robinson & Son.
Evelyn Law

Evelyn Law, 74, a resident of Pine Bluff, died Tuesday, September 14, 2004, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Born February 5, 1930, in Conway, she was a daughter of William Fred and Versia Lackie Doss.
Mrs. Law was reared and received her early education in Scott and Watson Chapel. She moved to Pine Bluff in 1942. Mrs. Law married Wendell W. Law on December 9, 1944, in Pine Bluff. She worked as a maid and housekeeper for the Admiral Benbow Inn. Mrs. Law liked fishing and camping. She was a member of the Robin Street Baptist Church.
Mrs. Law was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Jessee W. Law; one grandson, Thomas Allen Law; one great-granddaughter, Haley Addison and one brother.
Survivors include three sons, Jerry Wayne Law, Raymond D. Law, and David C. Law, all of Pine Bluff; one brother, Eddie Doss of Clinton, Arkansas; one sister, Lucille Grice of Pine Bluff; eleven grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be in Good Faith Cemetery
at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 18, 2004, with Reverend John Ward officaiting. Burial will follow by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, September 17, 2004, at Ralph robinson & Son.
Millie Butler Luck
January 27, 1911 - September 16, 2004
Millie Butler Luck, age 93, of Pine Bluff, died at her residence, Thursday, September 16, 2004. Mrs. Luck was born January 27, 1911, in Pine Bluff, a daughter of the late Walter and Willa Camp Butler.
Mrs. Luck was a lifelong resident of Pine Bluff. She was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School in 1929.
Mrs. Luck was a member of First United Methodist Church of Pine Bluff, member and past president of the Telephone Pioneers of America, past president of the Business and Professional Women and a member of the Hospital Auxiliary since 1971.
She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for forty-seven years, retiring in 1976 as Manager of Operator Services.
Mrs. Luck was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Benjamin Luck, who died November 14, 1965; two brothers, Lewis Butler and Joe Butler; two sisters, Lillian Roberts and Frances Lee.
Mrs. Luck is survived by her nieces, Brenda Smith, Leslie Woodmansee, Kay Thibault and Bobbie Kurrus and her nephews, Matt McGehee, Mike Lee and Jim Cannon.
Funeral services are Saturday, September 18, 2004, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverend Nancy Rainwater officiating. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour preceding service time.

Danny Wayne ( Dan ) Brubaker
July 05, 1943 - September 17, 2004
Danny Wayne (Dan) Brubaker, 61, of Redfield, Arkansas went to be with the Lord in Pine Bluff on Friday, September 17, 2004. A son of the late Charles Pratt Brubaker and Hazel Brown Brubaker, he was born July 5, 1943 in Arkansas City, Kansas, was reared and graduated from high school in Salina, Kansas, and attended Marymount College there. He spent 30 years in banking in Kansas and also had 30 years experience refereeing high school football and basketball in Kansas and Arkansas. He was with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) for five years. He moved to Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and worked for Simmons First National Bank, during which time he met his wife. He resided in the greater Pine Bluff area since 1998, and he and his wife moved to Redfield in February, 2002. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Pine Bluff and the Pine Bluff Optimist Club.
Dan is survived by his wife, Barbara Peters Brubaker, Redfield; sons, Donald C. Brubaker, Van Nuys, CA; Douglas D. Brubaker, Ft. Worth, TX; daughter, Andrea R. Dame, Chickasha, OK; stepson, Gary Ford Gamble, Irwin, PA; stepdaughter, Gina M. Gretz, Bartlett, TN; sister, Mary Lou Johnson, Lavernia, TX; brother, Max Brubaker, Wichita, KS; and three granddaughters.
Visitation is from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Monday at Ralph Robinson & Son, 807 Cherry Street, Pine Bluff. The family will be at home at 210 Honeysuckle Hills Drive, Redfield. Services are at 10:30 AM Tuesday, September 21, 2004 in Robinson's Chapel with Reverend Dave King officiating and 3:00 PM Wednesday at graveside in Roselawn Memorial Park in Salina.

Bernard L Funderburg
October 10, 1931 - September 21, 2004
Bernard L. Funderburg, 72, a resident of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at his home.
Born October 17, 1931, in Monticello, he was a son of Oda M. and Etoil Funderburk Funderburg.
Mr. Funderburg was reared and received his early education in Monticello. He married Marie Price in Monticello, on August 14, 1951. He was a pipefitter for the United Association of Pipefitters Local 155 of Little Rock. He worked as a pipefitter for forty-five years and was awarded a forty year pin by the United Association of Pipefitters. Mr. Funderburg was a member of the Oak Park Church of the Nazarene in Pine Bluff. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Mr. Funderburg was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Marie Funderburg of Pine Bluff; two daughters, Dianne Livingston of Greenbrier, Arkansas, and Judy Longino of Summerville, Georgia; one son, Roger Funderburg of Pine Bluff; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Friday, September 24, 2004, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with the Reverend Gary Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery
in Monticello, Arkansas. The visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, September 23, 2004, at Ralph Robinson & Son.
