Lorraine VanBoxel April 5, 1923 - September 3, 2003

Lorraine VanBoxel 80, of Mountain Home died September 3, 2003 at Baxter Regional Medical Center. she was born April 5, 1923 in Chicago IL. to James and Mary Rief Flanagan.She married Anthony P. Van Boxel, December 21, 1946 at Chicago, Illinois. She was an office manager for Schwartz & Cooper before moving to Mountain Home in 1968 from Chicago, Illinois. Mrs. Van Boxel was involved with reopening of the Wolfe House in Norfork, Arkansas and conducted tours. She enjoyed making and selling crafts and loved and cared for the needs of others. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Survived by: She is survived by nieces Johanna (Leon) Graham, of High Springs, Florida and Mary (Carlos) Neal of Chicago, Illinois; special friend, Marguerite Bossier, and many other nieces and nephews and close friends.

Preceded in Death by: She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, September 5, 2003 at Kirby - Boaz Funeral Home.

Funeral: Funeral services for Lorraine Van Boxel, 80, of Mountain Home will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 6, 2003 at Kirby - Boaz Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Taglauer officiating.

Burial arrangements: Burial will be in Kirby’s Tucker Memorial Cemetery.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks or Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Active Bearers: Pallbearers will be Arthur Rosenkotter, Howard Shipe, Jessie Milford, Bill Schutte and Ron Schneider.

Glen VanRheeden 1940 - 2003

Glen Albert VanRheeden was born June 30, 1940 at Decatur, Illinois the son of Albert VanRheeden and Arvona Roberts. He married Norma Marie Beesley at Decatur, Illinois on Febryary 4, 1961 and had resided in the Mountain Home area since moving from Decatur in 1955.He was in real estate sales and was in the National Guard for 6 years and was a former Baxter County Deputy. Mr. VanRheeden died at his residence on July 21, 2003 at the age of 63.

Survived by: Wife, Norma; son, Rex (Debbie) VanRheeden of Pekin, Illinois; gransons J.D. and Bo VanRheeden of Pekin, Illinois; brothers Roger and Jerry VanRheeden; sisters Nancy (Gay) Rorie of Mountain Home and Jeanie (Kevin) of Mountain Home

Visitation: Tuesday, July 22, 2003 5:00 - 8:00 PM

Funeral: Funeral service at Kirby - Boaz Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at 10:00 AM with Reverend Fred Agee officiating.

Anna VanWyk January 10, 1908 - August 30, 2003

Ann VanWyk entered into eternal rest on August 30, 2003 at Mountain Home. She was 95 Years, 7 months and 20 days. Anna VanWyk was born January 10, 1908 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Sieger and Wilhelmina Denhoff DeJager. She married Richard William VanWyk on September 14, 1929 at Chicago, Illinois. She moved to Mountain Home from Chicago in 1970. She was a homemaker and a Presbyterian.

Survived by: She was survived by one son:Richard (Marie) VanWyk, Marshfield, Missouri. Four grandchildren, Seven great - grandchildren.

Preceded in Death by: She was preceded in death by her husband.

Funeral: Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday September 3, 2003 at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Carl Cook officiating.

Ruth Vedder 1922 - 2002

Ruth Kathryn Vedder was born August 12, 1922 at Springfield, Missouri the daugher of Adolph Woker and Irene Tuegel. She married Marvin Vedder and had resided in the Mountain Home area since moving from St. Louis, Missouri in 1987. She was a former secretary at Lutheran Nursing Home and active in Redeemer Lutheran Church. She died at Baxter Regional Medical Center on March 31, 2002 at the age of 79.

Survived by: 3 Sons, Reverend Lawrence (Sharon) Vedder of Twin Falls, Idaho, David Vedder of Chicago, IL & James Vedder of O'Fallon, Missouri; 2 daughters, Susan (Hank) Rausch of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Georgianne (Joe) Weathers of Clarksville, Indiana; 1 Brother, Edward Woker of St. Louis, Missouri; 1 Sister, Lucy Carter of Chesterfield, Missouri; 8 Grandchidren and Several Nieces & Nephews

Preceded in Death by: Parents, Husband

Funeral: April 3, 2002 at Redeemer Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM with Reverend Larry Vedder officiating.

Burial arrangements: St. John's Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri

LeRoy Veenstra 1906 - 2002

LeRoy Veenstra of Mountain Home was born on August 27, 1906 at Pella, Iowa to Joseph H. and Elizabeth Bergraff Veenstra. He maried LaVelma Beal on February 11, 1928 at Nevada, Iowa and was a project engineer with the Maytag company until retirement. He moved to Mountain Home in Jan. 1969 from Newton, Iowa. He passed away at Good Samaritan Village on June 11, 2002 at the age of 95 years, 9 months, and 14 days.

Survived by: Son - In - Law - Tom Gundersen of Rockford, Ill 2 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Preceded in Death by: parents, wife, 1 brother

Funeral: Funeral Services were held on June 18,2002 in Kirby - Boaz Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ken Lampe officiating.

Burial arrangements: Burial was in Mountain Home Cemetery.

Additional Notes: Charter member of the Maytag Management Club, member of Ozark Amateur Radio Club, National Woodcarvers and the North Arkansas Woodcarvers.

Anne Lillian Vigus 1916 - 2003

Anne Lillian Vigus was born on April 23, 1916 in Chicago, Il. to Joseph and Nann Allen. She and W.H. "Bill" Vigus were married September 25, 1940. As a child Anne attended Sunday School at the Plymouth Brotheren Hall and The Christian Missionary Alliance, and was a member of the Moody Memorial Church where she sang in the Choir and the Ladies Chorus. She was a charter member of the Ashburn Baptist Church of Chicago. Anne's hobby was corresponding with relatives and friends. She normally wrote in excess of 500 messages a year, not counting her long Christmas Card list, and included people all over the world. After retiring in 1975 as postmistress of the Home Town, Ill. Post office she relocated to Mountain Home, Arkansas, a place and people she dearly loved. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Mountain Home and a member of the Ruth Ladies class, where she had many friends and will be missed by all. She passed away on September 10, 2003 at her residence at the age of 87 years, 4 months, and 17 days.

Survived by: Husband: W.H. "Bill" Vigus of Mountain Home, Ar. 3 Daughters: Kathleen Ann (James) Kolstad of Posen, Ill. and twins Bettijean (John) Rangel of Lockport, Ill and Nancy Lynn (George) Gawron of Lamont, Ill. 5 grandchildren and 6 greatgrandchildren.

Preceded in Death by: parents, 1 brother Joe, and 1 grandson Frederick Laverty.

Visitation: From 5:00 til 8:00 P.M. Friday, September 12, 2003 at the Funeral Home.

Funeral: Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 13, 2003 at the Kirby - Boaz Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David Johnson officiating.

Wilbert Virgin 1921 - 2003

Wilbert Virgin was born March 19, 1921 at Vanceburg, KY to William and Bertha Virgin. He was married Anna Faye Hedrick and was a machinist. He was a resident of Gassville, AR since moving from North Hollywood, CA in October 1999. Wilbert Virgin entered into eternal rest on March 5, 2003 at Mountain Home, AR at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 16 days.

Survived by: Daughters - Judy Hammond of Gassville Teri delos Santos of Pacific, WA Sons - Larry Virgin of MI Gary Virgin of FL 9 Grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren

Preceded in Death by: Parents, wife, brother, and sister

Hugh Kenneth Waddell October 20,1918 - October 2, 2002

He was born October 20, 1918 at Florence, Kansas to Hugh Ambrose and Virgie Coleman Waddell. He married Burdette June Gilmore on September 25, 1941 at Wichita, Kansas. He was a test board inspector for South Western Bell Telephone Company. He was a resident of Mountain Home, AR since moving from Wichita, Kansas in 1980. He served in the US Navy during WWII, Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneer’s and National Rifle Association. He was a member of the 101 Presbyterian Church.

Survived by: wife - June, of Mountain Home; sons - Gary L. Waddell of Peculiar, MO and Hugh K. Waddell of Derby, Kansas; Brother - H. Keith Waddell of Franklinton, LA; Sister - Rosalie H. Sloan of St. Louis, MO; and Grandchildren - Becky Waddell of Littleton, CO, Kenny, Karissa and Cole Waddell of Derby, Kansas.

Preceded in Death by: He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister.

Funeral: Funeral Service for Hugh Kenneth Waddell, 83, will be 10:00 AM, Saturday at the 101 Presbyterian Church, with Reverend Sam Hofer officiating.

Burial arrangements: Burial will be in Maynard Bend Cemetery military Honors are by North Central Arkansas Veterans Council, Honor Guard by Ozark V.F.W. Post #3246.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to the 101 Presbyterian Church

Charles Allen Waigand January 23,1920 - October 14, 2002

He married Ingeborg Bunge on June 17, 1962 at Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was Litter Control Officer for the County of Santa Cruz, California. He was a resident of Mountain Home, Arkansas since moving from California in 1982. He served in the US Air Force for 12 years, and served in WWII and Korea. He was a member of the Christian Church.

Survived by: Wife - Ingeborg Waigand of Mountain Home, AR 2 Brothers - in the Chicago area 1 half sister in the Chicago area nephew and nieces
