Clayton C. Glenn

JONESBORO -- Clayton C. Glenn, 76, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, April 11, in St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and are entrusted to Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Lou Ada Kendrick

JONESBORO -- Lou Ada Kendrick, 81, of Jonesboro died Tuesday in St. Bernard's Medical Center. Born in the Hancock community, she lived most of her life in the Bay and Jonesboro areas. She worked for General Electric from 1960 until 1984 and was of the Church of Christ belief.

Survivors include a son, Charles Roy Kendrick of Ash Flat; two daughters, Myra Morris of Sumner, Miss., and Clydene Nelson of Jonesboro; two sisters, Stella Wilson of Abingdon, Ill., and Clara Hearron of Longview, Texas; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Kendrick; and her parents, John P. and Myrtle McKinley Colbert.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with John B. Wilson officiating.

No visitation is planned.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to charity of donor's choice.

Charles M. 'Chuck' Ryan

JONESBORO -- Charles M. "Chuck" Ryan, 71, of Jonesboro died Monday afternoon in NEA Medical Center.

Born in Booneville, Miss., Mr. Ryan lived in Helena before moving to Jonesboro in 1991.

He was retired from the Army and was a member of First Baptist Church in Jonesboro where he was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School class and was active in the Church Care Center.

Mr. Ryan was a member of the Helena Masonic Lodge and was a sports enthusiast. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and supported all sports teams in Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.P. and Mary Ryan; and by a brother, Harold Ryan.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ryan of the home; two sons, Charles Michael Ryan of Biloxi, Miss., and Mark Anthony Ryan of Slidell, La.; four stepdaughters, Charlotte Smith and Renee Kegley, both of Corning, and Brenna Boone and Tammy Fitts, both of Jonesboro; four brothers, Edwin Ryan of Woodville, Miss., and Ronnie Ryan and Lynn Ryan, all of Lepanto; a sister, Wanda Smith of Chicago; 15 grandchildren, Donnie Ryan, Michelle Ryan, Shavon Ryan, Chase Ryan, Courtney Courtney, Michael Smith, Christy Smith, Zach Prater, Ty Prater, Joseph Boone, Madaline Boone, Abigail Boone, Matthew Fitts, Aaron Fitts and Frances Fitts; and a great-grandson, Clay Smith.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Emerson Memorial Chapel at Jonesboro, with Bruce Tippit and Kathy Holler officiating. Burial will be private.

Honorary pallbearers include members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and his morning coffee friends.

Visitation will be from 4-7 tonight at Emerson Funeral Home.

Gordon Ray Slusser

WALNUT RIDGE -- Gordon Ray Slusser, 69, of Walnut Ridge died Tuesday, April 11, 2006, in St. Bernard's Medical Center at Jonesboro.

Mr. Slusser was a retired farmer and a member of Free Street Church of Christ. He was born Feb. 18, 1937, at Ozark, the son of the late Troy and Annie Peppers Slusser.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Slusser and David Slusser, both of Walnut Ridge; a daughter, Debra Eshleman of Millersville, Pa.; four brothers, Bob Slusser of Walnut Ridge, Troy Slusser of Rockfalls, Ill., Larry Slusser of Cabot and Mike Slusser of Marshall, Texas; a sister, Mirl Mennenga of Prophetstown, Ill.; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and many other friends and relatives.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Higginbotham Funeral Home at Walnut Ridge, with burial to follow in Lawrence Memorial Park at Walnut Ridge.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are nephews and grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

Theresa Geneva Smith

HARDY -- Theresa Geneva Failey Smith was born Sept. 26, 1919, at Hardy, the daughter of Charles and Lula Failey, and departed this life on April 11, 2006, in Jonesboro at the age of 86 years, six months and 16 days.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 70 years, James H. Jim Smith; two sons and their wives, Wayne and Norma Smith, and Hubert and Caroline Smith, all of Cedar Hill, Texas; and three daughters and their husbands, Nadine and Jon Bussard of Mountain Home, Judy and Stan Whitson of Fairhope, Ala., and Jeanie and Billy Wilson of Caulfield, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Groves and Shirley Sharp, both of Hardy; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and a son-in-law.

She was a homemaker and longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in the New Hope Baptist Church at Wirth with Troy Harvey officiating.

Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight in Heath Oak Chapel at Hardy. Burial will be in McCollough Cemetery at Wirth.

Gaylord R. Steffen

GLENCOE -- Gaylord R. Steffen, 83, of Glencoe died Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at Ash Flat.

Survivors include his wife, Anita Friedholdt Steffen of Glencoe, and sister, Birdine Tucker of Davenport, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lena Hillestad Steffen; father, Robert O. Steffen; and one daughter.

Memorial services are at 11 a.m. Thursday in Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church at Horseshoe Bend with the Rev. David Tess officiating.

Memorials may be sent to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church of Horseshoe Bend.

Heath Oak Hill Chapel of Hardy has charge of arrangements.

Billie Ray Willcoxon

WALNUT RIDGE -- Billie Willcoxon, 82, of Walnut Ridge, a veteran and formerly of Mena, died Monday.

Survivors are his wife, Ethel Willcoxon; sons, Carl and wife Mary Willcoxon, Robert and wife Sabra Willcoxon and David Willcoxon; daughters, Victoria and husband Lee Bollinger, and Merrilyn and husband Wesley Smith; sister, Peggy Finnegan; mother of his children, Roberta Willcoxon; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are 11 a.m. Thursday in Pinecrest Memorial Park at Mena. Interment is under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home at Mena.

Family visitation is from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Fredrica Williams

JONESBORO -- Mrs. Fredrica Williams, 86, of Jonesboro died Sunday, April 9, at Ridgecrest Nursing Center.

Born at Bowman, she lived in the Jonesboro area most of her life. She retired from General Electric as a motor tester after 30 years. She was a member of the Jonesboro West congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Survivors include her daughter, Nettie Honnoll of Jonesboro; sons, Ronnie Williams of Greers Ferry and Jerry Williams of Jonesboro; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward "Ed" Williams; daughter, Joann Williams; parents, Louis Theodore and Mae Garrett Stotts; three brothers; and two sisters.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Magnolia Chapel of Gregg Funeral Home at Jonesboro with Rick Hansen officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery at Brookland.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Rick Williams, Phillip Williams, Jimmie Lucy, Rob Walker, Jeff Lucy and Johnny Lucy.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

J.D. Wood

NEWPORT -- J.D. Wood, 70, of Newport died Friday.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Essie Duren Wood; his wife, Sarah Jane Wood; and one brother; Roy Wood.

He is survived by one son, Delos Wood and wife Sherry; two daughters, Karen Glover and husband Bobby, and Kathy Stoner and husband Bobby; two brothers, Charles Wood and Lowell Wood; one sister, Shirley Baker; and five grandchildren, Jared Wood, Jordan and Sarah Allen, and Haley and Sydney Stoner.

Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today and 12:30 till service time on Thursday.
