Benjamin Calvin Taylor

Benjamin Calvin Taylor, age 47 of El Dorado, took his final journey home to be with his Lord in Heaven on Friday, October 19, 2012 while at his home in El Dorado. He was born on September 18, 1965 in El Dorado to Benjamin Taylor and Linda J. (Harris) Kellum. Ben was a lifelong resident of Union County. Ben graduated with honors from Parkers Chapel High School. After graduation, Ben enlisted in the Marine Corp. He was currently employed at K&M; Trucking where he was loved and respected by all he worked with. In his spare time, Ben enjoyed writing and translating the Arabic and Hebrew Bible to English.
He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Taylor; his mother, Linda J. (Harris) Kellum and step father, Harold Kellum; one sister, Lisa D. Taylor and one baby brother, John David Taylor.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Brandon Berry of El Dorado; one brother, Michael Joe Taylor and his wife Annette of El Dorado; one sister, Martha “Marty” Barnes of El Dorado; uncle, Ronny Harris of El Dorado and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews all of El Dorado. Ben will be greatly missed by many and loved by all.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dwayne Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Old Parkers Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado.
George Willington Connor

George Willington Conner, age 79 of El Dorado, passed from this life on Friday, October 12, 2012 at Oak Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center in El Dorado. He was born on December 29, 1932 in Marrianna, AR to the late Bennie Dalton and Mona Zeachel (Van) Conner.
Back in his high school years, George won the AAU state wrestling championship, which was held at Little Rock. He also coached wrestling at the El Dorado Boy’s Club in the 1950’s. George was a former active Mason and a former Order of Eastern Star Member. George was the owner and operator of Conner’s Spur Station in El Dorado for several years. After running the service station, George went to work for Amercable and worked until his retirement. George was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and was a loving husband, brother and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 59 years, Mariann (Phillips) Conner; one sister, Learline Johnson and one brother, Bennie Conner.
Those left to cherish his memory include two sisters, Dana Boehm and Peggy Shank; one brother, Noel Conner; two special cousins, Susan Whatley and Claire Whatley both of El Dorado and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Remembrance Reception is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 in the fellowship hall of St. Paul United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dale Shirey officiating.

Orville Johnson
February 7, 1919 - February 11, 2011
Orville Johnson, 92 of El Dorado, AR; died on Friday, February 11, 2011 at Courtyard Nursing and Rehabilitation following a lengthy illness.
Born on February 7, 1919 in Wesson, Arkansas; he was the son of Guy M. and Minnie Graves Johnson. Orville was a patriot serving in an Army cavalry unit at Ft. Riley, KS in the 1930s. He later served in the Navy during World War II on the cruiser USS Portland he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, American Defense Medal with a Campaign Star and Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal with 8 Campaign Stars including action at Midway, Coral Sea, Leyte, Luzon and the Solomon Islands. After the war he worked at Monsanto Chemical and retired after 22 years. He was a member of St Marks United Methodist Church. Orville was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Virginia Thomas Johnson, a brother Milum Johnson, and a sister Mildred Hall.
Survivors are sons John (Kim) Johnson of El Dorado and William Johnson of Grady, AR, a brother Donald Johnson of Springdale, AR. Grandchildren, Mary Ann Guell and Sharon Kaye Christian, and Great grandchildren Calista and Cayden Christian and Madison Guell.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, February 14, 2011 at St. Marks United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Proctor officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Bailey Funeral Home Sunday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Paul K. Martin, Jr.
June 14, 1932 - November 1, 2012
Paul K. Martin JR, age 80 of Lawson, AR passed from this life on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at his home in Lawson. Paul was born on June 14, 1932 in Junction City to the late Paul Kermit and Rubye Elizabeth (Johnson) Martin. Paul was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War Era. Paul worked for American Oil for many years and was a retired Pipefitter. He was a member of the local pipefitters union in Brownsville, TX and was a member of the Calion Masonic Lodge. In his Younger years, Paul enjoyed hunting and fishing. Over the last several years, Paul enjoyed driving his daily routine around Strong, Lawson, El Dorado and Calion, visiting with his friends and taking in the sights of that day. He was a Member of Grace Bible Baptist Church in El Dorado and was a beloved Father, Brother, Grandfather and Friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Billy Martin and Buddy Martin; three sisters, Athalene Rowell, MayDean Braddock and Judy Reagon. Also, one son in law, Walter Hoopes.
Those left to cherish his memory include one daughter, Elizabeth Hoopes of Junction City, AR; two sons, Paul K. Martin III of Mobile, AL and Stephen A. Martin of Houston, TX; two brothers, Terry Martin and his wife Peggy of El Dorado and Randy Martin and his wife Mary of El Dorado; two sisters, Polly Ross and her husband Walter of Pascagoula, MS and Diane Matherne and her husband Bari of Gulfport, MS; four grandchildren, Shelby Tice of Eugene, OR, James Hoopes of Junction City, AR, Regina Reed and her husband Brian of Mobile, AL and Adrian Martin of Mobile, AL; six great grandchildren, one special K9 friend, Queenie and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Bailey Funeral Home.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 5, 2012 at Champagnolle Cemetery near Calion with Bro. Danny Donahoe officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado.
Donald Pittman
November 11, 1946 - December 16, 2011
Donald Pittman, age 65, of El Dorado passed away on Friday, December 16, 2011 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. He was born November 11, 1946 in El Dorado.
Donald was a fireman with the El Dorado Fire Department and retired after more than 20 years of service. Following his retirement he became a heavy equipment operator for Kent Dozer Services for several years. Donald was an avid outdoorsman whose passion was feeding the deer at the deer camp and to him were more like pets.
Donald is survived by one daughter, Donna Michelle Pittman of Magnolia, Ar.; one step daughter, Robin Horton and husband, Keith of Deatsville, Alabama; his parents, John Robert and Mable Carey Pittman of Chedister, Ar.; three brothers, Raymond Pittman and wife, Diane of Bryant, Ar.; Danny Pittman and wife, Donna of Eustace, Tx.; Billy Pittman and wife, Tanya of El Dorado, Ar.; special friends, Wayne Kent and wife, Peggy of El Dorado, Ar. ; two grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Pittman, Jr. and Joe Larry Pittman.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, December 19, 2011 at Bailey Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Inmon officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home in El Dorado.
Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the John R. Williamson Hospice House.
Ruben "Curtis" Pruitt
November 8, 1935 - December 8, 2012
Ruben "Curtis" Pruitt, age 77 of El Dorado, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at his home in El Dorado. He was born on November 8, 1935 to the late Clarence A. Pruitt and Bertha May (Carter) Pruitt. Curtis was a retired construction worker, working for various construction companies throughout his career.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Pruitt, parents and grandparents.
Survivors include two sons, Rickey Bates and daughter In law, Gwen Odya of El Dorado and James Bates and daughter In law, Carrie of El Dorado; one daughter, Shonnie Henly and son In law, Marcus of Plainville, New York; one brother, James A.R. Pruitt of Winnfield, LA; seven grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service honoring the life of Curtis Pruitt is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2012 at the Bible Baptist Church in El Dorado with Bro. J.D. Weido officiating. Cremation arrangements were provided by Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado.
Vessar Faye Warlick

Graveside services celebrating the life of Vessar Faye Warlick, age 77, will be held Sunday, May 20, 2012 at 2:00 PM in Western Cemetery, Emerson, AR with Rev. Gladney Hunt officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.
Vessar Faye was born May 17, 1935 to John Andrew Brad and Bertha Mason Cheatham in Springhill, LA and passed away May 17, 2012 in Taylor, AR following a lengthy illness. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and had spent many years as a legal secretary until her retirement.
She is survived by her sisters, Carlene Halstead, Sue Grazioso; her sisters-in-law, Ella Cheatham, Norvell Cheatham and numerous nieces and nephews.
Vessar Faye was prececed in death by her parents; her husband, Ray E. Warlick; brothers, Thomas Howard Cheatham, Charles Ray Cheatham and sister, Shirley Elizabeth Cheatham.
A special thanks to the excellent staff at Summit Health and Rehab, Taylor, AR. Vessar Faye really enjoyed helping file papers and dusting during her time there.
