Louis Wesley Elza, Jr.
June 17, 1916 - October 7, 2012
Louis Wesley Elza, Jr., longtime resident of El Dorado, passed from this life on Sunday, October 7, 2012, in Fort Smith, Arkansas at the age of 96. Louis was born on June 17, 1916 at Hot Springs, Arkansas to the late Louis Wesley Elza, Sr. and Edith Mae White Elza.
Louis served his country in the Alaskan Theater and as an infantryman with the Third Army in their drive across Europe during World War II. Following the war, he continued his military service as a member of the Army National Guard, retiring at the rank of Command Sergeant Major.
A member of the First Baptist Church of El Dorado, Louis was an ordained Southern Baptist Deacon.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Odessa Gilcrease Elza, his parents, and three sisters, Geraldine Alderson, Mary Alice Chapman, and Johnnie Ruth Qualls.
He is survived by a nephew, Hugh V Alderson, Jr. and wife Jan, of Lumber Bridge, North Carolina, a niece, Jane Alderson Barnhill and husband Terry, of Greenwood, Arkansas, niece Shirley McCone of Conway, Arkansas and nephew Gary Qualls of Vilonia, Arkansas, seven great nieces and nephews, and four great-great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Arlington Cemetery at 2:00 PM on October 8, 2012 under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by Rev. Ben Early of First Baptist Church in El Dorado.
Melissa Diane Norris
January 5, 1974 - April 23, 2009
Melissa Diane Norris 35 of Sherwood, AR; died on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Lifetouchs John R. Williamson Hospice House following a brief illness.
Born on January 5, 1974 in El Dorado, AR; Melissa was the daughter of Max and Diane Joyner Murray. A homemaker, she was a member of Bethel Methodist Church. Melissa attended South Arkansas Community College and received an Associate Degree from Southern Arkansas University, and received Bachelors Degree from Saint Leo University in Florida.
Melissa was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Bill Joyner, a brother Scott Murray, and her father Max Murray.
Survivors are her husband Todd Norris and daughter Lucy Norris of Sherwood, her mother Diane Orton of El Dorado, a brother Keith Orton of Jackson, MS, and her maternal grandmother Thelma Joyner of El Dorado, her father and mother in law Rodney and Jayne Wimberly of El Dorado.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Bethel Methodist Cemetery (167 South) with Rev. Nick ONale officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Bailey Funeral Home on Friday evening from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Sallie F. Neighbors

Sallie F. Neighbors, 102, of Magnolia, died Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Magnolia City Hospital. She was born February 11, 1907 in Mayflower, Arkansas to Byron and Mary Agnes (Holder) Gross.
She was a homemaker and a member of Jackson Street Church of Christ in Magnolia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John L. Neighbors, five children, one granddaughter, Yvonne Harrison, and nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors are her grandchildren, John Sharp, raised as a son, Sharon Vale, Clarence E. Jr. Johnson, Ronny D. Johnson, Shirley Ward, Freddie Nabors, Johnny Lynn Nabors, Phillip Nabors, Calvin Sharp, Jerry Sharp, Rusty Paul Nabors, Ray Hook, Debbie Harrison, Rose Marie, twelve great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, one great great great grandchild, Ms.Duke her best friend and sister in Christ and a host of friends.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00pm Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Lovejoy officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Magnolia.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
Walter Stanley Drummond
November 5, 1946 - December 2, 2012
Walter Stanley Drummond, age 66 of Hallsville, TX, formerly of El Dorado, passed from this life on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport, LA. He was born on November 5, 1946 in El Dorado to the late Wesley Ray Drummond and Lottie Mae (Dumas) Drummond. Walter was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving his country from 1964-1967, and was a loving Father, grandfather, brother and friend, whom will be greatly missed by all.
Walter was preceded in death by his grandparents and his parents.
Those left to cherish his memory include three children, Debbie Southern of Henderson, TX, David Drummond and his wife Charity of Hallsville, TX and DeAnn Goodwin and her husband Lyle of Rusk, TX; nine grandchildren, Brittany Drummond, Brandon Whitehorn, Peyton Scott, Kamen Scott, Reagan Drummond, Dyllan Drummond, Joshua Goodwin, Jacob Goodwin and Jenna Goodwin; one great grandson, Gavin Sanroman; one brother, James Drummond of Alexandria, LA; two sisters, Brenda Duke of Ruston, LA and Elizabeth Bounds of El Dorado also, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Bailey Funeral Home.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Gerald Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Wyatt-Parnell Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado.
William Arnold Rowland
May 23, 1948 - November 25, 2012
William Arnold “Bill” Rowland, age 64 of Junction City passed from this life on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado. He was born on May, 23, 1948 in Junction City to the late Jewel Lavander and Mary Geneva (Bunch) Rowland. Bill loved being outdoors whether he was hunting or fishing and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grand babies. He was a United States Navy Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War Era and was a retired Pilgrim’s Pride, formerly Con Agra, employee. Bill was loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend whom will be greatly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jewel L. and Mary G. Rowland.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, of 45 years, Joann Rowland of Junction City; two sons, William L. Rowland of Malvern and Jesse Dwayne Rowland of Junction City; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Ray of Junction City; one sister, Evelyn Sue Griffith of Burden Kansas; three grandchildren, Amber Ray and Stephen Ray both of Junction City and Tiffany Burnett of Malvern; three great grandchildren, Maria Ray and William “Will” Ray both of Junction City and Emily Burnett of Malvern; four step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Bailey Funeral Home in El Dorado.

Noreen Kidman Lewis
September 2, 1925 - January 24, 2012
Graveside services for Mrs. Noreen Kidman Lewis, age 86, will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 28, 2012, at the Jolley Cemetery, Junction City, AR, with Bro. John Hicks officiating. Interment will follow in under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Haynesville, LA.
Mrs. Lewis was born on September 2, 1925 in England and passed away on January 24, 2012 in Elverta, CA. She was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Sand and husband Wayne of Elverta, CA; sons, Richard Lewis of OK, Gene Lewis of Rolinda, CA; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by husband, E.G. "Jack" Lewis, sons, Alfred Lee Lewis, Jack Lewis and a sister.

Mariann Conner, 79 of El Dorado, AR, died on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Oak Ridge Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
Born on December 4, 1932 in New Orleans, LA; She was the daughter of Emmett D. and Olivia Kavanaugh Phillips. A homemaker, Mariann was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. Mariann enjoyed crafts, sewing, and cooking. She was an only child and was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors are her husband George W. Conner of El Dorado, several cousins including Betty Jo Roberts of Houston TX, Mary Elizabeth Wallace of Topeka, Kansas, Claire Whatley and Susan Whatley both of El Dorado, Carol Shoup of Hot Springs, AR, Ellen Parker of Fayetteville, AR and a special friend Felicia Cheatham of El Dorado.
A Remembrance Reception will be 2:30pm, Tuesday, January 3, 2012 in the Fellowship Hall of St Paul United Methodist Church at 700 W. 8th St. in El Dorado, Ar.
